Its not dayz without them! Im secretly hoping for a huey with door guns and pickup/humvee with a hmg. So long as thermals and tanks dont make it in! But yes, I do hope a mechanic is added in to really help hide your base, maybe just awesome camo netting that can fashion the same textures as the ground its placed on? That said, I only care about one thing! BS deaths due to the game engine wigging out. Just played some arma 3 exile for a while, and I lost 17 helicopters to glitches and bugs. Tow rope randomly shot into the air an destroyed the chopper, landing on base helipads and the chopper just glitches and explodes, heli fell off helipad during restart, flying over rocks on tanoa causes the game to drop from 70 fps down to 1-2 fps and I crash, random disconnects even though I have excellent connection, you name it. Didnt get to destroy one of my heli's myself! I stopped playing arma 3 and tanoa already because of horrible optimisation in places and glitches. Im fairly patient, but losing 17 helis just wore me out! So I think it needs to be priority number 1, to ensure the engine dosent pull the rug out from under ya like in A3. I could only imagine how disheartning spending hours or days fixing up a heli, only to have it bug out, or fall of your helipad during a restart! I would cry...

Anyone had any luck finding fal mags or .308 ammo? Musve looted mishkino tents about 50 times! And ive been to ~20 heli crashes, but still no luck. Just wondering if theyre in..

Yeah for sure! Ive spent most my time submerged in some ol creek, slithering from water hole to water hole! I Put on a ghille hood recently and im still suprised my shadow wasnt burnt into the pavement from spontaniously combusting. I think a "cool off" animation near a watersource, tap, or using a bottle would really help!

Literally standing face to face with someone just pumping rounds at each other at NWAF when the "no message" appears, this will be interesting.... The suspense is killing me!

Haha thanks, I dont think ill get that lucky again for a very long time! Usually when ive tried to follow people, I either lose them or get spotted after two or three towns! Gotta say though, as I was cooking up fred after the fight, admiring my new backpack, I started thinking... How many times have we all been in someones scope on the verge of being shot, or followed for a period of time, waiting for an opporunity to stike.. Only to accidentally lose them or been allowed to live without any idea! Made myself overly paranoid with the thought, and im now currently occupiying a bush on the fringe of Krasnoe...

Wow, had the most amazing experience ive had in 1000hours to date this evening! Spawned in at solnichiny, trying to gear up, the usge... Real slim pickin's, couldnt find a shirt for ages, so strolled up to dolina and thought i'd have some better luck there. Just as I came into the town, I spotted another player literally 5 feet from me( Im gonna call this guy Fred for the sake of the story), and by some Christmas miracle, this bloke did not spot me! Fred looked fairly geared for a freshie, double carrying, blue mountain backpack and a carnival mask, so I backed off, and watched him loot the police station. Didnt really feel like talking today as im waiting on a new mic, because the last few people I talked to couldnt hear me and said I sounded like an incoherent robot, so basically want to avoid the awkward non-conversation that keeps happening as people think im trolling them with a sound board. Anyway I decided to follow this bloke, with only pants and a scoped winchester I found in Dolina. Tbh, I basically decided I was going to kill this guy on the spot and take his backpack when the opportunity arose, something I never usually do. So I followed this guy west, as he cut over to shakovka and then guglovo, and I tried to constantly sneak into houses ahead and behind him, looking for a weapon or some ammo! I had collected a small armament of weapons and ammo, none of which could even load a singe round, so I thought this might be a lost cause. I watched him head into Novy Sobor and it looked like he was bee-lining for the police station, so I thought id skip Novy and quickly loot Stary Mil barracks, get a gun, and then, finalllly kill this guy!! Yet again, iven now managed to add to the vast colection of non-useful weapons and ammo, finding nothing of value at the barracks... And as I was thinking about waiting in a corner and punching him as he walked in, I heard footsteps outside. There was 2 completely random people running around! So i made a break for the tree line instead, and sure enough, just as I reach the trees and turn back, over the horizon here comes my friend! Shots start going off and old mate Fred has actually managed to spot and kill these two people before they had a clue what happened! Fred gets ulta-sooper geared and heads for Kabinino, probably on his way to NWAF. Tried looting the bodies after he left but it was all ruined... Anyway, I caught up with fred at Kabinino, and sure enough Fred had 2 friends, who now gave him a red armband... Things were looking grim, and even though I still have no ammo, the odds of me killing this bloke are not shaping up well... Follow Fred & friends and manage to loot along the west of the airfield as they loot along the east, keeping an eye on them. At the end of the runway, I stopped uphill overlooking the tents, and watched with blind envy as they cleared the place, taking note of what they were wearing (Fred had switched his mask for a black balyclava and gorka gear, but still had that blue mountain backpack I wanted)... After some time, the happy trio skipped off towards Novaya Petrovka, dripping with gear. So I pegged it into the barracks and found absolutely nothing bar a broken PU scope and a damp apple. I ate the apple. Server restarts just as I finished looting nothing, and I get back in quickly within a few mins... Well....The DayZ god's have parted the heavens and witnessed my struggle, and lying in front of me, is a worn M4 with complementary mag and supressor! Loot the rest of the area and have ~40 rounds for this thing, and every attatchment possible...I had completely given up on fred, but the M4 helped curb my bitterness, so I decided to head over to Zaprudnoe lake to the EastNE. DIdnt realise but Im almost dying of starvation, so I set up camp and got straight to punching chickens with no time to waste. Found a tripod and pot earlier, so I enjoyed some boiled chicken and got my health status back! Came up with a plan to pass through Novaya down to Sinistok and then check out Tisy on the way back. Its been over an hour since I last saw Fred and ive all but given up on finding this guy... So, as im walking into Novaya, I start looting some of the houses on the right side of the road. Literally a few feet away behind the church, a full scale war has broken out!! I can hear some bloke screaming dont shoot! Dont shoot! SKS, ak101 and I think Mp5 shots ring out and slaughter this one guy! So I mustered up the courage and snuk round back, real sneaky like... They basically killed this dude, unprovoked, so I decided id try take a few of them out valiantly! The first guy is looting the body, so I shot him in the ass, and then the chest, and then once more in the ass... for good measure! Then managed to peek over the ledge real quick, and got the biggest hail mary of a headshot on the second guy! He ate the dirt so quick he didnt even have time to raise his weapon! I run down to his body... feeling quite anxious, I cant see this last guy!!! Well... I look up, and there in front of me, is Fred, wearing my backpack! Face to face, both of us out in the open, we start strafing, hipfiring & spraying into the air, like trained commando's! Hes managed to hit me twice with the SKS, and ive done roughly the same! My gun jams with a few bullets left, and Fred has run out of ammo too! I initiate a tactical retreat, and fall back to the wall from where I came, desperately trying to reload the gun... And now, Fred is chasing me, hot on my heels, with a giant f**king broadsword!! I managed to unjam the gun, and halt his valiant, yet futile charge, with a wall of bullets! Then I finished him off with my glock, with the crazed smile of a mentally unhinged serial killer on my face! I finalllly got that backpack!

Barn stairs... They just casually bide their time, patiently waiting in the dark, plotting, scheming.... They KNOW when you have good loot...

Ok thanks, that's what I was afraid of! Ill keep trying then... If anyone has had their sound drop out permanently and knows a fix or has any ideas, itd be greatly appreciated! Pretty sure its not my drivers (as ive reinstalled between 2 different versions), updated motherboard sound drivers & disabled steam volume from windows (heard that could've been a cause), not really sure where else to look... Windows 10 64 bit/ gtx 980 ti sli/ cpu:5960x/ motherboard: MSI x99a sli plus/ 32GB ddr4 ram

Can anyone let me know if their sounds dropping out or not? Ive been having issues with Dark Souls 3 and DayZ .60, but my other games run fine! Im at a loss on how to fix it. Ill try rolling it down the stairs a few more times I guess...

Is the sound permanently dropping out for anyone else? Wondering if its the game or my drivers...

Wow, just approached 2 american's at tisy and said hi, when I had the drop on them and couldve killed them easy, as they were both talking, facing away and not moving, right out in the open. Server went down right after I said hey and approached them with my gun down, just in time for me to hear my 'hello' met with "HEY HEY WHOA WHOA!! put your weapon down! IM NOT GONNA SAY IT AGAIN put your gun on the..." and when joining back into the server they mustve just coward shot me. This stuff happening in experimental, unprovoked, when everyone's checking out the new stuff and finding bugs is BS. Moral of the story: Kill everyone... Being friendly always gets you killed, especially by neckbeards screaming like a highway cop off their med's!

Hahaha every time I come here I swear you guys are always chillin/lost out in the ocean! If I didnt know better id swear you found another map out there and just haven't told anyone.... Suspicious...

Seems a bit more random, some houses have nothing, some have a little more than the usual. Also clothes sometimes have loot in them, and I also found a P1 pistol in a house with a pristine suppressor on it!... Threw the p1 at a loud chicken. I think m4's and aug's are spawning at military tents, but I had no luck.

I think he was referring to Early Access in his post, and not the beady eyed, fascist, child kicking corporation that is EA! But he is coming across as a bit of a seadog... ill give him that.

I completely understand what hicks is saying, and it does shed some light on certain decisions that are made, and I do appreciate all his communication with the community even if its not always what we want to hear. (Also having had an opportunity to play for one out of ~20 hours, I think this is an amazing patch and the devs should be proud.) But having bought the game and been a part of this community for a good while (although less vocal on the forums), this is the first time ive really felt completely left out, felt a low blow. I understand all the bugs, missed deadlines that are hard to predict, server crashes and wipes, pace of development, whatever. Honestly none of that stuff has really bothered me, because I always felt like I was part of the bigger picture. Ive played on countless experimental branches, and filed.. I dont even know how many bug reports! But I always assumed that I would be allowed into the experimental branch, where I have the most fun and can contribute something to the game. I always thought that if BI only did one thing for the community, it would be to just allow everyone to play and stay involved with them on this journey, as no other game has allowed the community and developers seem so close, and that your feedback is actually worth a damn, and most likely gets heard and considered. So yeah, for me, even if putting up a few more experimental servers gimped them just a little bit, or slowed development by a day or two, or cost a few more bucks, I think its absolutely necessary to keep the community that has been here backing the game with feedback/ interesting discussions/ ideas and bug reports, involved and welcome as part of the long marathon to 1.0. I dont see how it would be that difficult to get the required amount of servers online, and if it required shutting off and wiping some empty .59 servers a week or two ahead of schedule, i'm sure if anyone that had a stash there, would more than understand. Im not trying to be salty to the devs or hicks or anyone, and from what ive seen the work they've done looks f**king awesome, and if these are the sort of patches we can expect in the future, this will be one hell of a game. But for the first time I feel like a spare tire, and no longer involved with the game or part of the experience.

Where does that one crafty Oz server keep whoring off to?
-
Why haven't they just released more servers to the public by now, I dont understand, is there something i'm overlooking here? If they only need data from a few servers, just take data from those few servers. Or if its a matter of needing the servers to stay full, then just open up the right amount of servers. Why is this a thing right now? Thought they'd be on top of this already. Is it that detrimental to just allow the rest of us to play or something... If it is, even an answer will do.

[Opinion] The Value of Base Building?
Salty seadog replied to [DGN] Johnny's topic in General Discussion
I dont really see too much benefit from building a base, yet. I think having a few small barrels/ stashes spread around will be more than enough to collect netting/ weapons/ survival gear. Might be useful for storing your heli or car, but If your base gets spotted, no matter how long it takes for people to break in, they will get in. Ill still try build one though, and I like the direction theyre going with it, but im fairly hesitant ill leave anything of worth inside one. Might just build one in an obnoxious spot like the hospital roof in elektro, see how that pans out! -
Might go bandage my fingers or eat something then, before I drop dead from from clicking join for the last 7 hours or so..
-
Yep, just got in for the first time today too, for about 5 minutes! Feeling lightly salted... That said, the new renderer looks great! Its shaping up nicely...
-
Fairly unimpressed with the fact that there isnt even enough servers for people to play on. Especially since this patch has been G'd up for so long! Anyone could have told you that there would be a large influx of players coming back to DayZ to try the new renderer. I can fully deal with alpha bugs, broken mechanics and constantly missed deadlines, but only allowing a very select few to play because you wont host some more servers, feels really cheap.
-
Tried to join a server for about an hour here in Australia. No luck. Can you guys throw up a few more servers for the rest of us? saw a server go from empty to full in like 5 seconds!
-
Yep, been trying join one for bout an hour now.... Fairly anticlimactic. Back to dark souls for some more punishment I guess. Anyway how's the FPS, does it live up to the hype? Do the pictures move now?

I haven't played a lot recently, but im hoping that will change in this patch. I need the framerate to at least consistently stay over 30 in all areas on a high end machine. I just... I just cant take the 8 frames a second struggle... So keen they mentioned increased performance in this build. I need zombies to spawn everywhere, and be a constant threat (deal serious damage, cause infection, break legs). In another recent thread someone pointed out that zombies only move within ~400m of a player. To me, thats practically no different than the mod, both games allow you to scout for zombies/ zombie behavior to determine if players are near by. Only in standalone, you have drastically less zombies/ zombie spawns. Survival to get harder & spreading players around the map, so that there is no 'one' area that's better for killing freshies. I just find it hard to play when I dont need to kill zombies/ use crafting knowledge at all/ sneak around, kill or greet players around the full map. Just stockpile guns and PvP in cherno seems to be the go atm..
