  1. I spawned near Cherno a few days ago and worked my up north. Very few z's (i's ?)  so now I'm  used to not looking for nor worrying about them. Last night I was somewhere around Sinistok when 2 of them surprised me. No not surprised.. they scared the living daylights out of me!

My guy took a couple of hit's before I recovered. I ran into one of those storage units so I can lock them in but they just stood there,, one ran away. I ran out again gathered them up and back in the storage unit. Same thing. The z's could not follow me into the storage unit.

  2. I picked this lively bunch up on the outskirts of Novaya. They were hitching a ride back home to Tisy after attending a family wedding. It was an open bar and the vodka was flowing freely if you ask me! The language was very interesting! They were so drunk it sounded more like growling than talking... Animals these peasants. But who am I to judge....

  3. I was driving around in my truck and stopped in front of the police station in Lopatino, got out and looted get back in and drove on towards Vavilova where I saw some players.

The server was about to reset so I got of the road and parked the truck in the woods and got out.

Server reset and I spawn back into Lopatino on the street right in front of the Police station. I ran back to the truck but was KoS'd the moment I entered the woods where I left the truck .

My question is... Is it a bug (re-spawning) so far from where I logged?

  4. I'm unable to find a compass since .57. I have everything else I can dream of... MP5 with RV1, CR527 with Hunting scope and even a CAN Opener! But I cannot find a compass!

    Is it just me?

  5. Which you can do in first person. The sound is also going to be worked on so that it more perfectly correlates to the location it came from. Also, you can't hear something standing still 600 meters from the fence you are behind, but you can see it in 3rd person... so...

Lies, in 1PP you can glance over your shoulders to see the zeds just fine. Makes different backpacks more worthwhile too since some of them hold more, but block LoS over your shoulder.

You contradict yourself in that statement. The backpack I like prevent me from seeing a z right behind me.

    No need calling people liers.

  6. I Have just upgraded my rig from an old Opteron setup with DDR ram and a R9-280X vidcard. So I needed mobo, proc and RAM.

Price was my biggest deciding factor. I started looking about 2 months ago until a good deal showed up and then jumped on it.

I like AMD because the motherboards is way cheaper than Intel. I went with the FX 8350 because it will do what I want it todo with power to spare and play a good game. If I want I can overclock higher but I don't need that for now.

This is the deal I got at newegg: The 8GB RAM stick was FREE!! (a sweet deal indeed!!)

  7. Move inland as quick as possible. Look at and study the map. Print it out or have an old laptop next to you with the map open.

But get away from the coastal cities and spawn points as quick as possible. Do not run on the roads.

Approach towns from the fields, woods after observing the environment from a distance for awhile. Do not run in the middle of the road into the town.

The smaller inland towns will get you looted up fairly well. Look for apple trees and berries if you get hungry.

Once your looted up you can start looking for AK's and M4. There are lots of small arms in the towns, just keep looking.

Also read up in the wiki on what weapons uses what ammo, how to fix broken legs and disease. Knowledge is survival.... :-D

Make rags, and split them right after you spawn. It will save your life.

Piano house and police stations have weapons. Some houses will spawn guns in the bedrooms. (my experience) stay away from airfields and military barracks until you feel comfortable and are ready for PvP.

Remember you will die a LOT before you get the hang of it. It is just part of the game. Embrace that fact and learn from the experiences.

    Enjoy.

  8. I do not have a huge problem with 3pp because it adds a dimension that is lost in the game compared to IRL.

If you hide behind a wall irl you can sense what is going on where you can't see,  by using hearing. Noises or lack of noises. You can judge distance and direction using noise. The 3pp camera adds a little of that perspective back to balance the game out imho.

I've been running from z's and if you do not use 3pp you cannot see them behind you. IRL you will be able to hear, without looking, if and how far something is behind you. Even how many.

  9. The AK family is easier to clean and needs less maintenance than the M4. The AK family uses a gas piston system instead if the braindead gas impingement system the M4 uses that causes overheating, failures and gets dirty. And oil! you needs LOTS of oil for the M4. ;-)

I strongly recommend the AKM. Pair that with the SKS and you will be fine.

Also get used to using iron sites, all the other gimmicky stuff breaks and then you are sol.

Edit: added the wink to show I was semi kidding.

  10. I had an interesting day. I was watching Therunningmanz stream and noticed he and his friends were on a server where I had a character so I logged in. I found them and followed them but quite a long way behind. They got into a gunfight in Elektro so I had to run all the way from Cherno to get there and try to help them. I didn't make it in time and didn't dare take on their murderers alone so instead I snuck in and left some loot for TRMZ in a shed, lol. I then logged out. They then went back to elektro and got killed by the same guys again. I watched the stream but was then playing another game so I didn't have time to hop in. Too bad.

I also had an incident with my 3pp stable character. I came upon a lootsplosion at Veresnik military base and was happy looting when Dayz crashed. i tried logging in again a few times but it seemed as the lootsplosion crashed the game. I then had to try five different stable servers before I could find oen with no lootsplosion and get the hell out of that place. So, if you need something, its at Veresnik. But unfortunately, the game wont let you get it.

No need to go into the military base at Vershnik, the deer stand on the hill has everything you need. :-) The loot is laying knee deep in front of the barracks. But don't go in, the z's will get you while you lag.

  11. Last time I found Vybor lootbombed, it crashed my computer when I got within 20 feet of the jail building.

As fun as it is filling two dozen backpacks with clothing to find a few mags or PSO scopes, I'd really prefer to see it fixed, and so would my CPU.

Good to know. I thought the server was hokey. I got out of the truck at the gate of the Vereshnik military base  and ran to the jail building. Everything went into slomo and the screen froze with the z visible top left corner. I then spawned in Solnichniy. Apple picked my way to Dolina where I got semi-decently geared. Back on the hill by Vereshnik I found a completely stocked deer stand. 4 to 5 mountain packs, SKS's, shotguns, ammo and much more.

Went down to go look for the truck and my frame rate dropped like a rock the closer I got to the jail. I was not even in the compound yet. (the truck was gone).

Approaching the baracks from the north I was able to see back packs and rifles outside the barracks. For fear of loosing my now well equipped character I left to go look for food in Pushtoshka.

I would love to see the inside of that jail!

The server was IL 2-16 if I remember correctly.
