Yes ... in a way I think "helicopter routes" should not exist, so my suggestion is either to make it more spawnpoints all across the map or really to make it random. I see the point of NWAF being an "endgame" location ... and it makes sense that mil loot is most prevalent at a big military installtion. Which doesn't imply that mil loot shouldn't spawn anywhere else, but you get what I mean. When it comes to heli crashes, why should they have preset locations. They could also have crashed somewhere else around the map. Personally I would prefer this to these preset heli crash routes. One could argue both ways, though.

Nope, the current narrow focus on gun related stuff is a mistake in my book. The game itself would have great potential, if survival elements were developed with the same itensity as weapon sounds, weapon sway, gun attachment, gun damage system, shooting from vehicles ... and so on. For the time being, yes, the game is broken for me ... so I look what I can get from the game in the meantime. I am by no means a fan of PvP, but I cannot play survival at the moment, since the game lacks these elements. And yes, of course I paid for it ... actually bought my brother a copy too, so in fact I paid twice even - but that's not the actual point. And yes, it's fine if you think the direction the game is heading is good. I do respect different opinions, but and I don't expect you to think the way I do. I just do expect you to take it as my opinion and that's about it.

Was this to add content or to prove, that you post the coolest comments on the block? ....

Well, random locations for heli crashes are a good idea. There is no reason why they should exclusively be in the North West.
-
Why should I, if I still can get some fun out of this game in its present form? Because you say so? Well ... okay, since you're the super cool internet guy, okay.
-
Point is, it should not only be a PvP shooter, CoD or Battlefield are handling this better. Food shortage, medical trouble, zombie attacks, wild animals PLUS players .... that's the stuff survival is made of. Not just waiting, if someone is lying in the next house waiting to snipe you. If that's all the game is about, the map is too huge, the medical system redundant, the zombies pointless and the game basically a mistake. If it ever becomes a survival game, private sheds will have their merits for me as well. Right now, this is no survival game, when weapons are more abundant than food and readily canned food is available in supermarket quantities.

Different argument. Not everyone has days of spare time at hand to search for equipment just to be killed by someone he doesn't even see. So some people might just look for the quick gear and action stuff. Since there is no survival element in the game, I have actually come to do so myself lately. I want to have some fun, but can't sink hour after hour into the game. I cannot play survival, so what option do you have? That said, on private hive, as soon as an update comes out, clans hunt for the vehicles. If you only find time on the fourth day after a new update, forget about vehicles and some other quality stuff. So yeah, I do understand your point, if time is not an issue. If time is precious, private servers can be bothersome.

Yes, it is, as long as said people could also go for another project which yields much money again. Sole motivation? probably not. Working for little to nothing? (most revenues have already been generated) ... also a bummer. It's just human, it's their job and from their share they have to feed families. So I really would not play the idealist card here. It's an industry, not a monastery or Mother Theresa ;)

True, the incentive system when it comes to eary access games is a real problem. This goes for any software company. You earn 95% of the money with still half a game - investing the same amount of time again for the remaining 5% isn't really viable from a business point of view. But that's not the fault of the software company, but the fault of the customers. Actually a game with lots of DLC content can do better there, since there is still motivation for development. The early access model itself is ... questionable at least. You make good points, thanks

basically I posted a redundasnt post - since I cannot delete it, I just fill the space with these beautiful words of mine.

Obvious solutions is to cut down on content. I don't think this game will be a real survival game ever. Someone is cultivating his weapon fetish and thus the topics are gun sounds, weapon sway, ammo spawns, more guns, more efficient reloading, shooting from vehicles, helicopters and so on .... The major problem that I see is that the game still lacks a real survival content. The only aspect I still expect is an increase in the number of zombies. I have given up on real different char skills, on medical stuff and more, which could give a new impulse to the game. But I have come to take it for what it is. A shooter on a map, which has grown too big.

Weapon sway, weapons sounds, more guns, weapon attachments, random weapon load, damage system ... No, I cannot claim that I am impressed or happy with the priorities the game is setting currently. No new survival content, just some more weapon fetishism. Damage system would be somewhat interesting, if melee weapons were really used, buit with guns as abundant as food .... well. Basically the report doesn't hold any news (renderer is nice, but we know that it's in the works) but the highest amount of community videos ever (I think youtube is sufficient, would not need this as part of the status report). I know some people will disagree with me, but hey, after all the praise in previous posts in this thread, I feel okay adding my beef ;)

[Opinion] The Value of Base Building?
Noctoras replied to [DGN] Johnny's topic in General Discussion
You might want to think about playing grocery simulator 2013. Should feel almost like DayZ and maybe it even saves you the 5 minutes to your gun with matching ammo. Could prove very immersive, I always feel like in a supermarket when in WalMart or Tesco's, too. And yes, it does make much more sense that apparently Chernorussians have guns for breakfast, since the number of weapons is almost equal to the number of food items found in houses. Very immersive ... just as immersive as shoot, kill, die, rinse, repeat ... True. Many kiddies and CoD lovers didn't like it, since the game for once had survival elements. But of the people posting on this forum currently, more people loved it than despised it. And many want the game to be a challenge apart from PvP as well. In this thread alone you find more people advoacting more survival than disliking it. -
Nope, that's a think mostly relevant to PvP. what most people long for is a fight for survival apart from PvP, i.e. a challenge besides other players. 1st person doesnt cut it there, it's not a first step, but a PvP enhancement. I have no problem with making it even 1st person only, but it's not an answer to making the game scarier or more threatening.

Whilst I think there are more reasons for legit criticism (this is the part we discussed in the shooter or survival thread) I agree with you on the subconscious adding of weeks or months. I cannot recall an update coming in time or earlier, when they projected, announced or estimated something. If I was them I would just stop from posting any date estimates. @igor: I hope they have something more to add than just the next weapon, to be honest ;)

Why you shouldnt be excited about 0.60 coming soon
Noctoras replied to hemmo's topic in General Discussion
this really hasn't been cool for almost a decade already. Have nothing to say, post a facepalm ... great achievment, congrats. -
Brilliant case of a major facepalm. Hardly useful infected, no threatening illness, hardly any survival mechanics, little usable items, a pointless melee system, but shitloads of ammo and different guns So what does a game without essential elements need? For sure scopes, sights, holsters .... .. aaaaaaaaaaarg Sorry, I already have calmed down now. But I'd love to see elements relevant to the game first instead of an expansion to the walking arsenals you guys are anyway.
-
True, but ever since early 0.55 my char is packed with food, drink, ammo and weapons in no time and rather feels like in a giant supermarket. This is not survival.
-
Don't really care for more weapons, would love more zeds and more survival content first. That's my beef with this neverending addition of weapons, not the introduction of weapons themselves. The average Chernorussian probably eats a weapon and drinks bullets for survival. (i.e. the addition of yet another bunch of weapon appears pretty pointless, if there are so many useful things one could implement first) I agree with more emphasis on the melee weapon system, though.
-
Errr .... not me and I guess noone else in this thread. It's not about the content which is implemented, but the content the game lacks currently. Which is why I for my part leave the rest unanswered.
-
I guess we will just have to wait, hope and see. It's just the fact that the potential of this game was outstanding. If we had a decent melee fighting system not everyone would need 3 guns all the time. There is also so much potential wasted with the zeds. The illness system also has a lot of potential, which is barely touched, same goes for other survival aspects. I hope your hopes come true and enough of the community stays with the game to make survival mods of this game a success. For the vanilla game I have given up hope. (the announcements of a helicopter and even more guns were things still to copy and paste from arma, yet nothing that makes this game a good survival experience). Thanks for keeping our hopes up, ColdAtrophy!
-
I appreciate that, yet I am afraid that given the already shrinking number of active players, that by the time modding comes in the community might splinter in really small sub groups and the game actually die. And adding 10 new guns will not really bring players back. I am not sure that free modding will mean better times ahead :(
-
I have little hope there. Hicks seems to be a die hard gun nerd and I recall something like "not having a gun is boring" (second hand info). I might be mistaken, but I really wouldn't hold my hopes high when it comes to survival mechanics, items and gameplay content. That said, no hopes leaves a lot of room for a positive surprise :D
-
More zombies, more survival, more FPS. NOT more guns and ammo...
-
Well, yes. It was the only time ever canned food was not sufficient. With 0.55 hotfix, it went back to SuperMarket Simulator Z. Btw. 0.55 was also the last time ever I saw melee fighting in a normal environment. Never seen since, everyone is a walking armory again *yawn*
