:D :D are you serious? -
every person primarily interested in loot and shoot / KOS / PvP will have that :D

well, first off by now you should know that this game attracts a certain kind of character. Be glad they are busy ruling the game, because thus they are out of real life management or ruling positions ;) jokes aside, what did you expect from an update focusing mainly on even more weapons combined with even more loot ? Gearing up -> 10 mins -> boredom but lots of guns -> consequence? So no, it's not a fault of the KOSers, killing is perfectly legit - it's the game direction favoring this kind of gameplay. As my last posts outline, I do not like scrapping the sandbox idea either, but the devs seem to want it this way, so we have to take it like that ;)

too much mil loot. (and generally loot over abundant - 8 cans of food in one house s just way over the top) ... been literally drowning in guns. But yeah, that's only my play preference. I do realise that for the KOS crew, this update sure is quite good, since effectively it's not a survival game (saw ! 2 ! zombies in 30 minutes, found food for a whole school class), but a quick-gear shooter clone. So depending on your playstyle, the update might be the thing for you.
-
Thanks, I did. I evern understand it mostly, even though English is not my first language. But which part of "It's only my preference" in my post was so difficult to understand for you? Or do you just like to drop into a conversation, add nothing to it input-wise but your opinion on other people and leave? Well, if it makes you happy, I guess I'm cool with that.
-
Thing is, it is just reducing possible playstyles even further. This is like posting a sign "deathmatch, please this way". It's moving away from sandbox. But this doesn't make it a better first person shooter either. Therefore the map is toohuge and player count too little. The map is basically asking for a sandbox game, zoningwill make it from a 95% deathmatch game to a 99% deathmatch game. Add to that longer and longer range scopes and you see where we are heading. It's only my preference, but I don't like it - I'm cool with other people liking it.
-
realistic as in zombies being magically attracted to a submachine gun? Don't know about realism, I'm not a friend of this whole zone concept - I'm convinced it doesn't make the game more attractive for a majority of people.
-
don't really like it either. It's like a sign Team Deathmatch arena and I think it further tends to limit playstyles, just like the introduction of longer and longer range scopes do. Until everyone is on his sniping hill, having the 40x scope looking two villages away. I am aware this is a matter of personal preference. I actually did enjoy the "broken" 0.55 with loot in random places. People walked the map and not just way X (NWAF, Vybor ...), and rareness of items makes for more interaction than everyone having guns and beein bored. So it was quite an interesting build for me, before returning to legacy loot. The zombies being a threat either furthermore fostered a very PvP centred orientation in the game. I would wish for a lot more incentives for interaction other than shooting only. Teamplay meaning more than more guns and ammo in hand. Just a very personal point of view. Well, as a first, it's not really more difficult to lay low with a mosin+lrs and kill someone who will make the mistake to stand around than to farm stuff. It's both easy. But nevermind. For the second part I strongly disagree. People have always built communities because you need different skills to survive and each person has a different skill set. They keep doing so as well. Someone being able to stitch you up or reopair your vehicle is of morevalue to your post apocalyptic guy than killing him and having a can of beans. I definitely think we are seeing a lot less interaction than we could imagine in a hypothetic post apocalyptic world.
-
much of a sandbox with 98.5% of all "interaction" is bullets. But yeah, we do need a long range scope now. I'd propose the devs introduce a hyper range scope, so your efficient range can go up to 5 kilometers. why not just hang out in one town and snipe people two towns away. Definitley enhancing game experience :D In all seriousness, this game has a real long way to go, if it ever becomes sandbox. most of the additions currently are just asking for more loot and shoot. The downside is, that mapsize and gear time will not make the game a decent first person shooter on the long run, thus people looking for sandbox will leave first and people looking for PvP will leave thereafter, once the remaining people are all just boring themselves to dead with some hunting scope on a hill. You could still cater for PvP by significantly enhancng player load per server, but then we're getting to the engine trouble. So DayZ currently is indeed in a tough spot and I doubt adding new weapons and scopes currently is helping a lot. Focus should be on making the sandbox game a sandbox, with incentives for a wider variety of activities than gear and snipe or loot and shoot only. Pretty much this. The game's current design make the most important choice for 98% of the people, where to shoot from and which weapon to shoot with. In ARK you can tame animals and use them for various purposes. So for how many purposes will you use a long range scope for? And let's not kid ourselves, we are all basically just looking for weapons, the rest is .... "gap filling stuff". Then dinos have different characteristics, from threats (zombies are no threat, thus reducing it even more to PvP here) to crucuail support and so on... In ARK teamwork serves some purpose. In DayZ "teamwork" is just having more guns to fight, little else (apart from the odd saline bag which you only need after....? PVP, KOS, exactly ;) ) . I hope DayZ will make progress towards sand box, but I doubt it.

INFERNO IN CHERNO! New server open for public PVP

is that an invitation for a 1vs10 ? B) -

What is it that drives you to play DayZ a lot?
Noctoras replied to doctorbadsign's topic in New Player Discussion
Likewise. Nothing happens until you get sick of rteading careful, the first and only event then maybe being some sniper waiting for you in whatever town you just enter. So yeah, it's a hop on hop off for me too, still lacking a good storyline. -

the normal DayZ crew for you ... This should be read more than once. Very good post, sir -
Players were very vocal in their longing for the familiar DayZ spawn points, Chernogorsk and Elektrozavodsk especially. ==> I saw many games fail. Many of them for the very reason that they listened to the cries of the community. To be honest, going down this road usually never ends well. It only kills progress, so yeah, I will not applaud on this, as listening to too many voices too often is definitely equal to wasting opportunities for improvements. People are often vocal against change, and even computers or the internet have first been met with reluctance. Good that they did NOT listen. This is more a general comment, not related to this specific case. That said, thanks for the report, glad to hear things are going well

*sighs* I hope not, zombie respawns have been abolished for good reason. Getting constant zombie spawns again would be a huge step back :S
-
Yep, to me high rise buildings are the epitome of game buggers. - Don't look to good an all the same - Repetitive rooms with identical design - Little loot - Only suitable for sniping, often as bambi camping and ruining other people's gaming experience (just like or worse than zombie one-hits) Sure, the city needs them for "style", making them accessible on the other hand is redundant.

.55 loot, I'll just leave it at this.

True. My proposal would actually be to skip status reports when it comes to "what is worked on" or "what will be introfuced in the future" or "which items are new in the patch". I mean, just imagine the community searching for the Easter eggs in the new patch. They'd be all happy to find out which new items they can find across the map. It would relieve the devs of pressure and at the same time give the community something to look forward to ... like "look what I just found". The new game mechanics when introduced should be explained in a short way in order to facilitate bug finding and the like. But when it comes to new items.... why not skip that. We would have to deal without regular status report, but then again there would be no release pressure and we would not be waiting in the corner at week's end.
-
I agree, but don't blame the devs, they need to get stuff fixed and I am free to and most likely will skip the PvP stable part with no zeds. Will definitely come back once PvE has a stronger role, though From what I gathered, it's more about performance, CLE, inventory, so the basics of the game. Which is a good step in my opinion.
-
ah, but this would be sort of great. Clean a town and it only gets zombie re-bombed once server restarts. Looted towns will hold little zombies, more loot means more zombies. I seriously hope this feature stays if it is implemented as you describe.
-
Please not. Weapon overflow will only lead (understandably so) to even more KOS, since everyone has gear and - even after the return of zeds - will have little use for it. This is only asking for shoot-shoot-shoot deathmatch.
