Kicking from Vilayer server IS ALLOWED.

I hope this changes as SMoss announced by reporting via the feedback tracker. The problem is that BI says they are not responsible, report to the server provider. The server provider has no interest to loose a paying customer. So unless B.I. takes the heat to the server owners, nothing will happen. People were understandably pissed, when told by forum mods that it will not be discussed here, people should complain to the providers - basically leaving them with no space at all to voice their issues. Now that B.I. seems to take the issue somwehat more serious, I hope things get better.

    Desolate Game? Where is everyone?

    Desolate Game? Where is everyone?

that, there is hardly anything to do apart from boom boom ;) I didn't log in for a while and when I did, it was for chatting and relaxing in-game.

    increase Map size

Although I am not sure the devs are aware of it (current work in progress is amongst other stuff.... new guns *yawns*), you are definitely right. I doubt DayZ will be a sandbox game, it could easily become an oversized, slow shooter game. But since I dunno whats in the pipeline, I will wait and hope ;)

with regards to melee, quite the opposite. they are useless now, since guns in DayZ are easier to find than chocolate in a supermarket. So I'd rather see less guns, more melee and a geared player should also decide how to pick his fights. I.e. melee weapons should have a certain damage and getting an axe onto your head would knock you out as well, geared or not. I agree, though, if you refer to simple fists, they are overpowered now. As for Zs, I wholeheartedly agree,

True - WoBo sounds like a good idea (the only dedicated youtuber coming to my mind for the survival part), Tatanko would also be a great addition, ThurmanMerman is also a dedicated tester and could give some input for sure. BcBasher is probably one of the most hardcore hermits out there from what I read on the boards.

I think many of us like this challenge - however, early 0.55 coincided with a drop in player numbers, so maybe they are somewhat scared to start over with an environment as challenging as that. I remember when, after many hours, I finally had a gun with a magazine to go with it. It was an SKS and it felt like christmas and easter on a day. Have been killed by a zombie when drinking from a pond - I would have died had I not drunk, I have died by a zombie by drinking. It was a great experience and it felt like survival. After early 0.55 the environment was only for sightseeing, but no challenge at all. Horticulture or huntin were not needed, guns were like smarties - but I am hopeful, since the devs said that the game will be tougher again with time.

    Char Skills / Player Skills

Hi, another suggestion. I will keep it short so noone needs to read a novel: - Currently one of the biggest flaws is KOS. Not a fault of the players, but the result of too many guns and ammo and little to no other challenge. Thus, player interaction is pretty much non existant. - Devs have announced that there will be a limited char development. Players will only be able to perform some actions faster, no real char differences possible. - Now new features like work benches, electricity as well as existing aspects like medicine would open possibilities, where a char could learn skills one way or another. Individual skills not everyone can do by default. Possibilites could be by reading, by teaching and maybe by spawning with 1 or 2 random character skills. - Players would hunt for "skills", not only for ammo. People would have incentives to team up, to talk again instead of going on a KOS rampage until bored. - Then make guns a little rarer and zombies a tad more frequent and I'd be happy

I second this notion ... asking streamers for PvE improvements is like asking Saudi Arabia for opinions on women rights ...

    Cases

nothing bad about your ideas, but I would love for the development time to go into elements other than new toys, weapons or kits right now. I think we do have quite a choice already, but nothing to do apart from carrying around weapons and shooting out of boredom and dumb lethargy. So I'd rather see them investing their time in game content instead of items for existing aspects of the game at present.

    Char Skills / Player Skills

No, it's not an ant-KOS-Wunderwaffe. But maybe if you can gain more from a player than a weapon, e.g. he can teach you a skill, you have maybe reasons to talk or team up instead of shoot and be done with it. I don't even think it is necessary that you keep your skills upon perma death. Actually I am rather against it, since you'd soon be stuffed with all knowledge available. Gaining skills would be just another sandbox goal for a char - and could be a real helpful one at that, if devs would integrate individual skills for players. The way it currently is planned, that you will only be able to perform an action faster is rather a waste in my opinion. People who roam a map the size of chernarus for hours just to find someone to kill on sight won't really care if they need 30 or 40 seconds to chop a tree. Hermits won't care either, since they have all the time in the world. Character skills are cool, but I think they need to be individual, i.e. you can have, learn from a book or get teached a skill that other players do not have,

This is what gives many of us here a big headache. It could easily sway DayZ into the wrong direction - making it fancy for streams and kills, but less functional as a sandbox. There is so many different guns in the game now, but too little apart from shooting. I honestly do not think that any PvP elements should in the focus of development these days - PvP is the only thing that works smoothly so far, with the natural consequences.

yep ... only shoot and run is good for videos, but not for gameplay

thanks for this information (albeit it currently is a PvP shooter ;) )
  17. Noctoras

    Char Skills / Player Skills

True, although I love additions, which make it something different than a mere KOS frag fest - for me the map is too huge to have a fun PvP party and there is too little elements to gameplay other than shoot and run. But you're right, I don't hold my hopes up high either.

    Status Report - 09 Sept

emuthread has posted in the other thread on the subject "I'm pretty sure that the Community Combat Scrum is an organizational tool being implemented to further streamline the game as an open-world PVP shooter, based on the name, and the nature of the streamers listed. At a glance, it seems like pandering to what the prevalent playstyle has devolved into with SA in its current incomplete state. It seems somewhat unnecessary, as PVP is pretty much the acknowledged dominant playstyle to date. I noticed that Hicks also mentioned plans to organize a Survivalist Scrum. This sounds about as pointless as the current two-party system of US politics; especially when the the chosen terminology is "evangelists." So naturally I'm on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what these terms actually mean, both semantically, and in terms of long-term gameplay development concerns. For now, it looks like we have just enough information to speculate wildly on what it might mean." And I so hope this does not hold true. That said, KOS has become the all prevalent playstyle anyway, so there is little that can be damaged anymore *shrugs* ....

Community concerns (latest Status Report & +)

hm, pretty much a no-news-report. As for the people mentioned to be included in development .... don't have time to check it all, but I so hope this is not going to be your "give me more weapons to shoot around" type of player again. Else the future of DayZ might look rather grim :| Hoping for the best, prepared for the worst

    When?

it will take a while the devs said, apparently parts of the new engine will be implemented. However, I cannot see how they want to get to 1.0, if each build takes 6 weeks between the stable versions, unless they drastically cut on content, which I think might happen. Even if we only take one month between stable versions, we would see 40 months till 1.0, which is more than 3 years to come. The obvious solution is to not implement content, which was planned but not yet announced. Thus noone could complain about lack of content ;) I cannot blame the devs for this and I won't. We just have to see what we get and how the game will look like in the end. It's a dynamic process after all.

DayZ Standalone 0.59 Update - What To Expect

I rather wonder when this build will ht exp, let alone stable ... the timetable of things to come is rather ambitious ;)

    Player personal skills and attributes

I'd love different skills, not only skills which everyone has and which only lead to doing X Y Z 10% faster. (see https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/228704-char-skills-player-skills/, maybe merge?) - this would increase player cooperation and thus interaction aside from PvP. Learning could work by books you find and by teaching (the latter so that PvP isnt only modyfied to "kill for books")

    Char Skills / Player Skills

Thank you for explaining to me, what I already wrote above - I have read what is currently in planning. :P Seriously, if an item is planned, why not suggest modyfing said item somewhat. It's still up to the dev, if they implement stuff or not - no reason not to suggest it.
  25. I am suggesting yes, for the sake of realism. When apocalypse comes upon me, my last actions will not be removing a glow plug from a truck and putting it inside some barn. I either take the truck to flee or I light a cigarette or whatever. So I think most trucks should spawn WITH glowplug and battery, but said items should also spawn separately. I could make my truck difficult to steal by removing the glow plug, however people in posession of a glow plug can put it in and there goes the truck. I also think guns should be much much rarer than now, only few people on a server should be in posession of guns with ammo - however, I think some of the spawning weapons could also spawn with a bullet or next to a bullet. Having few guns would make guns special and give melee weapons a meaning. It would also curb the over abundant KOS mentality. Another item, which should be more rare is canned food. There should be a point to fishing, farming, hunting. Right now it is only a devorative element. Just some thoughts.
