Unfortunately yes. and the new status report gives us - apart from parts of the new renderer .... yet another gun *rolleye* There are more different guns than player slots on a server available. There is no real challenge apart from killing fellow survivors And yet what we get is guns, guns and even more guns. It seems as though the leading devs are not satisfied until each and every Arma gun is copied into standalone. Who needs survival. Survival? Well, if Call of Duty, Doom and BattleField are survival games, DayZ is one as well. Instead of zombies, you see walking ammo departments and find out, that an average person in Chernarus has approximately 1 can of food, 1 can of drink and 7 guns for a living.... I'm pretty much done with hoping for a good survival game. On the positive side, having no hopes can only make for a good surprise. But the most likely result of this game is a waste of potential. I agree, 0.55 was the best until the devs decided that loot was too scarce. For once I was really short on food and I felt really lucky to find some random gun in a car trunk. It was actually the only time ever that anything in DayZ ever felt like a challenge apart from PvP.

My beef is more that it seems more and more it's about "the same weapons" as in Arma DayZ coming in, the same playstyle is desired, other elements like skill system just seem to be crippled because they dare not introduce something that was not in the mod. The mod seems to be more and more like a development prison. Taking the mod as a base and evolve the game from there, yes - great idea. To get more and more into a copycat idea with a new engine? not that great imho.
-
That's one of the most dumb decisions ever taken. DayZ SA should be DayZ evolved, not Arma DayZ copy, but it is why I have pretty much given up on the future of the game.
-
Well, what else is there to do, as long as neither zombies nor illness nor starvation are threats to you? Walking simulator? Chernarus features more guns than cans of food, so what do you expect by design choices as that?

What is your honest opinion on the future of DayZ
Noctoras replied to karlkurtz32's topic in General Discussion
pretty bleak. It seems the future work will mostly be around the engine. i.e. apart from a crippled skill system I do not expect a lot. Leaves us with - a non working survival system - an unused medical system - zombies which simply are no threat The game as it stands is a PvP shooter, for which the map sitze is just too big. The survival element as a whole could be abolsihed. It's only taking time and geared players have too much food, drinks and everything anyway. As for realism, the inhabitants of Chernarus probably eat weapons. At leas I tend to find more weapons than food items around Chernarus. Quite frankly, I don't hold my hopes high anymore, the current state of game is too broken. In addition to that, devs seem to be scared to add new elements, instead in many aspects they just copy stuff from DayZ Arma. -
Finding a vehicle in DAYZ is so hard.... (HOW HARD IS IT?}
Noctoras replied to H4ppY C4mp3R's topic in New Player Discussion
Q: How about the limit of vehicles per server? If they are persistent for 45 days and the number per server is limited to a few, then it is pretty much pointless to look for vehicles a day or so after a server wipe, since most vehicles are in remote storages. Well, unless you are willing to search the whole map like a search and rescue team that is. -
Not in this case - end of major development in 2016 basically means the end of many game related costs, from dev. time to admin overhead. From cash flow to net profit, B.I. can only profit from drawing it to a close as soon as possible. The majority of revenues has been made, that's for sure, so what would be the economic point of continuing development into neverland? The disadvantage of early access is that you basically remove an incentive to carry on. This is not B.I. specific, but a market thingy.
-
Confirmed by B.I. just before Christmas, so you better believe it. I am totally with you in thinking this will leave a broken game apart from weapons and transport system (medical system, skill system, injuries, melee fighting ... there basically are still lots of "cinstruction sites")
-
health system still is a joke to be honest, you do have a point there. I am all for adding medical items, treatments and conditions instead of gun number 231, but currently health is ... overrated. Nothing to see here. I have not heard about improvements either, though. Renderer, helis, base building were the hot topics lately. The broken health and melee elements seem to stay broken :( That might be due to your aforementioned timeline: 1.0 is still planned for 2016, so they might just have dropped some stuff from the agenda, I don't know. However, I would not hold my breath for a decent medical or melee system.
-
I am sometimes puzzled by the provocative way you bring matters across, but you are pretty much spot on - although we might draw different ideas from that. Because there is little other challenge, I would love to see the survival part and an individual skills part expanded (not the 20% better at a skill everyone has) - basically challenges and ideas apart from PvP, because for a mere PvP shooter, the map is a waste of space, the time till combat too long. I would love to see PvP to be reduced to an element amongst many.
-
I respectfully disagree. I dislike this all over KOS myself, but currently it is the only challenge. - Food is so easy to come by, no need for even trees, bushes, deer or fish ... I could stash food cans to neverland. Same for drinking. - Guns and ammo are still way too prevalent. Everyone has a gun with matching ammo after 20-30 minutes. Most have more than only one and then there is the duper community. - Add to that melee still being not implemented in a meaningful way, so maybe this is one of the reasons guns in chernarus are about as rare as smart phones in your town. - zombies aka infected are no challenge either. If in doubt just run for a minute. They are slower, they are loud and they give up soon. Or shoot em, alwas works and as for ammo quantities, see above. - I cannot remember the last time I was sick. And the medical system is way too basic to be a challenge as well. Eat raw flesh? Take a charcoal. Full stop. I never ever have suffered an infected wound. So where is the challenge I play for? I absolutely understand him going for the kills, I do as well from time to time. And other people act the same way, so you better shoot first most of the time. Yes, I'd love it to be different and have more of a challenge than just shoot n run, but the current state of the game allows for little more than that. Just my opinion.

I dont like the heli crashsite system and think it's flawed
Noctoras replied to Me1andMe2's topic in General Discussion
It all depends. In the last couple of weeks I reported three servers in total via feedback tracker. Two had normal names (=SK=Stubenkrieger for instance) and these were not even assigned from what I could see. So this reporting seems to have been kind of pointless, I agree. One was called "BattlEye Testserver Don't join". Obviously the name did the job, since the issue was assigned and the server provider notified by B.I. However, a "normal" name should not make a behaviour against rules acceptable. I still would love too see a reporting button in the server list. In order to avoid "hate/revenge reporting", action could be taken once a server has been reported four times for instance. -

I did find two AUGs even - but what is it worth, if the magazines don't spawn. Feel free to take mine :P -
I used the old UI - it happened bout 5 times to me since 0.59 is on stable branch.
-
I also experienced this during 0.59 for the first time ... likelihood seems to rise, if I switch servers without restarting the game.

Make sure to report public servers that kick for no reason
Noctoras replied to aurien's topic in General Discussion
Now we have a specifically funny case of these "special" admins. In order to loot with his mates, the admin claims the server would be a BattlEye testserver lol. Of course upon joining, it's clan people ( ^^ battleye clan for the world ) ... now obviously I got kicked - and yes, I joined on purpose - let's just see how this reporting via feedback tracker works.... (btw how do I manage to spoiler images?) -

Noctoras replied to Me1andMe2's topic in General Discussion
The idea is great, there should be no "heli routes". Then again, imagine the graphic mess if the heli spawns inmidst of a town or the frustration when the wrecks shows up on the ocean. So randomness has its limit ... but the randomness idea is good. -
From what I took, it affects civilian as well as mil loot - but one way or another, Balota, North East just aren't places for gear anymore.
-
1. prisons are glitchy, thus loot was removed on purpose 2. there are new loot zones, kind of forcing people towards NWAF where most loot is (don't really like that)
-
guess that's down to "loot zones", which I am not a friend of either, forcing everyone towards NWAF.

Just reported =SK= Stubenkrieger server via feedback tracker, doing my part for the first time ever - and a push to the thread won't hurt either :) -
That ... bear in mind that - most who do NOT like it will not follow it on these boards - threads negative towards DayZ have a higher likelihood to meet the graveyard, this might be down to peronal rants and flames and the way this board is moderated. However, taking this forum as a reference on like / dislike is not quite correct. Neither is steam, though, since many people do comment after only having played single digit hour. All in all .... relax :)

You deserve a lot of respect for still having hope for survival elements, when the game has been developing into a staight big-map-shooter lately. I doubt there will be more of these elements, but be prepared for some new guns ...

First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
Noctoras replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It makes perfect sense, though, if you aim to make a wide map first person shooter out of DayZ and basically this is the direction DayZ has been heading for quite some time now. I don't like it, since I am a fan of the open world sandbox concept, but I have embraced reality for what it is - I have got my money's worth from the game already :) That said, expect more guns, more incentives for a constant PvP fragfest and more KOS in the future - the game might not be for everyone (it won't be for me as a fan of sandbox games). And arguably, 1st person perspective is the better choice for a classic shooter.
