The problem with the game. My views

If these soft skills are, as announced, only reaching as far as someone being able to perform an action faster, I don't see it getting anywhere. Who needs to chop a tree in 5 seconds instead of 10?
  2. 1. they are getting somewhat slower, much bugfixing - I doubt DayZ is further than comparable games at present. 2. Zombies have been removed from the game for the time being due to performance issues (-> see 1.) 3. ? 4. Force feeding will not work. It is all about KOS (kill on sight) these days. Either your screen goes black saying you are dead or you make someone else's screen go black saying he is dead. Other aspects of the game are negligible and redundant at present. Current updates (refering to point 1.) focus on expanding the gun number from 40 to 42 and add new vehicles so you can get to your shooting hotspot quicker. New content currently is rather few and far between. Welcome to Chernarus.

The problem with the game. My views

Doesn't quite catch me from what I read. I do appreciate PvP elements. I do appreciate PvE. I basically long for a real sandbox game, haven't yet found one, though. I would prefer a "real" setting, which is putting me off ARK and the likes. Basically, I would love a DayZ, where PvE is a challenge, human interaction is meaningful and PvP only is an element amongst others, characters are different (skill wise) and I can lead a "life" the way I want. I know, many people prefer it to be different, but hey, I can keep on dreamin, can I not? B)

Same here, maybe another game will become a good survival game one day.

The problem with the game. My views

Illustrated the problem - there is nothing to do in the game apart from waiting for someone to shoot. That said, there are decent games, where I can get to that point a lot quicker. From a survival game, let alone a sandbox game, I DO expect more ;)

I'm not sharing the position of the OP, but you're the type of guy calling "you don't know how to drive it", if you see a road full of potholes - improving the tarmac might well be an option, but hey, let's just mob the OP. Well then ...

Well, it seems the devs are die-hard on implementing more PvP, having all mil loot centered in one are ist exactly doing that. I don't like it either.

The problem with the game. My views

I doubt it - many people have looked for and found other games instead, remaining is the PvP only crowd. Due to map size and time you need to find players for PvP some of these will be put off sooner or later as well. When my exam is done I'm also going to see whether I continue with DayZ or another game. My best game buddy is mainly PvP but even he thinks it gets kind of boring. We Let's just wait and see, there is nothing we can do about it anyway. If it's mostly vehicles/transport clothin and guns as work in progress, then it just is that way. I'm in no way pissed, I bought into an experimental not knowing exactly where it goes. If I think it's not my thing, I'll have to look for another game sooner or later, that's just life. That said, 3 months in, ARK still has more than 35,000 avg players, more than DayZ ever had on average. Not saying ARK is better and currently I can't play any game due to time constraints, but ARK at least has tried to make interaction a bit more meaningful, although from what I gather it still is a long way to go. DayZ's reaction was adding more guns - not so cool and combined with abundant food, no threats and guns popping up like smarties, it killed anything apart from KOS. I might ask two questions: - What do you gain from player interaction other than a bullet? What reward could it potentially bring, if you have everything three times over? - If you decide not to KOS/PvP, what can you do once geared? Horticulture when your backpack is already bursting from canned food? Hunting when being stuffed is a bigger threat than being hungry? What this game still lacks is content, content, content. New vehicles, new guns are not adding content, they are basically expanding the KOS model.

Kicking from Vilayer server IS ALLOWED.

If one person only reports a server, leave it alone ... if five people report it, have a closer look. That's not perfect, but it's maybe a 95% thing. The current procedure is a 5% thing, so we are not getting anywhere. Join/kick servers ARE an epidemic. Actually I even prefer those, who have it in name - many just do it without having it in name, so it's more likely 5 to 10 times as many servers ... it's easy to do your maths then - and easy to see how "well" the reporting system has worked to date.

The problem with the game. My views

I guess it is too late to reverse back into a sandbox game. Most people who like interaction have left, since guns were everywhere and everyone was understandably just shooting around for a lack of other threats and nothing else to do on the map. I guess that's the inherent design flaw of adding gun after gun after gun - all the while leaving the rest of the game to itself. Now the game might slowly get harder, but that's too little, too late for a larger playerbase apart from the PvP crew. These days are over.

It's hazardous and hard work being a farmer in DayZ

DayZ player interaction at its finest
  12. depends - DayZ's best card would have been to add real content BEYOND the PVP stuff, which Arma covers pretty well. Basically a combination of PVP and char development, a real sandbox. As the game stands, there is nothing to do apart from? Exactly: Run around and look for someone to shoot. So I can understand where posts like this come from, DayZ should feel different from Arma + Mod, it should in some way ADD real content, not only guns. But this is only my take on that.

Kicking from Vilayer server IS ALLOWED.

exactly - an option like that should be in the server list window - in order to avoid misclicking, you should have to add at least a short reason (like join=kick server) and then this should land on the desk of B.I. - if a couple of different people is reporting the same server, action should be taken. Leaving it to the server owners is recruiting a wolf to guard the lambs

    Status Report - 23 Sept 2015

Correct, there is nothing to do out there - my preference would be adding content instead of new guns or more ammo, though. Granted, the suggestions "I want this gun, I want that gun" are not helpful to the introduction of different content either. Your second point is also very valid. Make the rest of the game more exciting, giving us more than mere running or driving around to shoot something would be a bonus. A more refined melee system would also work towards making smartie gun distribution redundant.

Kicking from Vilayer server IS ALLOWED.

This has been the frustrating, pointless way before. There was no point in reporting a server the way the mods enforced it here. Server providers don't easily part with money either, to use your terms for this. There is now an option via feedback tracker, SMoss said that B.I. is looking into this then. So I'd strongly discourage adressing the server provider, but use the feedback tracker.

    Status Report - 23 Sept 2015

I wholeheartedly agree. Melee needs to be worked on - it only makes sense if guns are not lying around like smarties, though :.-) I mean, if you can hit a zombie with an AK or a lugwrench or sword, what will you choose? ;) I also think the game itself would benefit from more content, not only the PvE side of things. How about ... just imagine you can find a book on weapon technology and build a "home made RPG" or mortar with a grenade and a tube or so; people who have not read the book or been teached the skill by you can only use the grenade for what it is and throw it. This kind of skills could also be farming or medical skills for instance. Lots of possibilites, lots of content possible. I could also think about uses of electricity for instance when it comes to content elements apart from spray and pray. Base line is, though, that content will never be of significance as long as guns are like smarties, thus I'd love to see this element cut down and new content introduced. This will not take away the PvP aspect, but who on earth uses horticulture, if I could throw you to death with all the canned food I find ...

    Status Report - 23 Sept 2015

Depends on your view of the game. Survival simulator (currently far from it), sandbox (nope, weapon store with shooting range) or oversized PvP shooter (current state). If the latter is what you're after, you're right and ammo should be plentiful. For all other means, the amount of canned food, weapons and alike NEED to be scarce.

    Status Report - 23 Sept 2015

+ I really appreciate progress on the new renderer + I like the more realistic flair on something - all I read is weapons, weapons, vehicles, weapons and weapons. Nothing about content apart from shoot, spray, pray. Looking forward to 0.59, though, should finally have time to play again from mid next month on :)

Well, the idea did not materialise in 11 months, so .... but yes, this would indeed be a more than helpful feature.

Kicking from Vilayer server IS ALLOWED.

yes and no ... I am okay with this kind of business model, as long as I can do it with an advance payment and it stops automatically when I don't play anymore. I definitely refrain from all kind of "12 months contracts" or "requires a written note 4 weeks in advance of service termination". SMoss has said, they take care of it, if reported via feedback tracker, so let's try it this way. I agree that there are still incredible amounts of join/kick servers by name or by fact around.

    pre .59 hype

Text offers so many possibilities. Communication by leaving notes, stories to be told by former residents. You could even make a skill system by learning new skills from books ... if only someone who read a book on medicine could correctly use antibiotics for instance. So I love the idea of expanding on paper work. And it makes me sad when the focus is on VSS Vintorez ;)

    pre .59 hype

for me it would be: stop this focus on "new cars, new air transport, new guns" - I long for new gameplay elements. The game is slowly dying its way, since there is nothing to do but PvP - and for PvP the map is simply too big and the player count too little. Give us a challenge apart from PvP please. Zombies for one, more of a sandbox/survival game as well. People will not come back (or just for a few moments), if there are 41 instead of 39 guns available or if there is a new vehicle. What this game needs is content. Not this continuous "I want this gun, I want that gun, I add a new coat". Sorry for picking your posts and nothing in your post is wrong, the new gun just crossed my eyes and thus I used this post for quote, since I think the current focus on the development side is a bit ... narrow ;)

POLL: DayZ and BI experience so far

I respectfully disagree. Those, who were disppointed most likely don't follow these boards anymore. Edit: sorry, I misread what you have written or read too quickly, my bad, of course you're right in what you say ;)

POLL: DayZ and BI experience so far

So far B.I. cared too little about content apart from guns. An oversized PvP shooter is not what I understand when talking about sandbox and new weapons as work in progress are not exactly the great win these days either. Those who want to PvP quite often will look for a more intense feeling, myself included. If I want a real immersive PvP experience I do NOT gear up for half an hour and look for another lone player somewhere for another half an hour ... now that zombies are gone, this problem has become even more prevalent. Then you have all the canned food, weapons and weapons everywhere. There is simply no challenge once geared and gearing is too quick and easy for a "brutal  " survival simulator. I have called it a WalMart simulator before and stll think it is kind of accurate. However, this is a work in progress, so taking cheap shots and complaining is not the way to go either, we have to wait and see. In the suggestion forum I started a topic on individual player / char skills gained by teaching or reading books. I think stuff like this, if not everyone has the ability to do everything would be a great addition to the game. And just generally, more content, less weapons, less canned food. I mean, we all want a challenge, DayZ doesn't give you a survival challenge at present, apart from bugged hypothermia at times or the odd PvP elements. So for now I think a lack of content is the big bummer here - people don't come back because you have 39 instead of 37 different guns. People do come back, if there are new challenges, new tasks, new discoveries to be made. So my call for now would be to be less weapon centric, more content oriented.
