Killed by Hacker, share your experience.
Liandri (DayZ) replied to Liandri (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the heads up, I wont dwell on the technicality of said hack. You understood my concern Kirov, I mostly play lonewolf and my playstyle is very slow and methodical with my characters living for weeks and months so dying like this tend to make me lose motivation for the game. Dying is a part of the Dayz title but hacking is not. So I want to unravel whatever this is a rampart issue or an isolated incident. Edit: @Avix, Blue waffle is private shard yet open if I rememer correctly, I used to play some there but I never encountered hacking. This last incident was on a public russian server which is quite ironic. On a different note, can admins spot incidents in the server log? -
Hello there survivors. I just got killed by a hacker. I were well hidden overlooking a field when my character suddenly unequipped my rifle and kept doing so when I tried to get a hold of it and my sidearm. Like a blast from the past of the early dayz I realised I was in grave danger, I tried to crawl/sprint away but got dredged back to the same location. This confirmed my suspicion and I lunged for the ESC key but alas I was too late. One shot to the head from an invisible enemy at point blank range... Outside of duping/glitching buildings I thought this kind of direct assault were extinct and it's the first time I've been targeted in about 18 months. So, have any of you still or recent experienced these kinds of attacks? And what can one do in way of reporting said issue?

Heh, a certain wild-factor is important to keep it interesting. If I wanted to play a game without any risk that is outside of my control I'd play chess. All one can do is to minimize the risk of that happening and there is a lot one can do.

The intricate decision making. You set out with a goal and every interaction you have is like a game of cards. You are dealt a hand the moment you notice another player and now you have to play it to the best of your ability to satisfy your goal (whatever it may be). No situation is the same and every time you fail to reach your goal you can determinate your errors and return wiser. Like others have said, PvP is survival. Whether you seek it or not, death is always around the corner in DayZ and you will have to plan and play accordingly.

Why going north is way better than camping at the coast and having a deathmatch all the time

Great video! Both entertaining and thoughtful. I salute you for beeing so trusting when handling other players, gentle but cautious, a great judge of character perhaps? Inspired by this video I've been roaming the northwestern part of the map for some time now and had some extraordinary encounters. All my past adventures inland has been revolving around group PvP at NWAF and the military bases. A thrill for sure but with superior loot being the only driving factor. I now travel light and lone with my Blaze and marksmanship as sole comfort for the same reasons you mention but with a more sinister purpose. -
Agreed! Full ghillie or clown masks useually conways a singular purpose ^^

I've got mixed feelings about this as your flanking/counter snipe kills were done very proffessionally with fast and well aimed headshots or clean tilt-in and ironsight kills. But next comes 5 kills were you third person sprays 20 bullets at 15-30m in their general direction ^^ Entertaining nontheless!

I agree, at distance all clothing will appear darker and leave a siluette and so the key to passive camouflage is to erase contrast and silhouette. The summer hunting jacket makes a good example as its light to give a smaller contrast and its broken pattern (around the edges) breaks your silhouette and this will help you not to "pop" from your surroundings. Turning this to the ghillie colours would mean that the tan version will always blend in better on most ground textures than the darker versions and will hence be the better option for multi-purpose camouflage in most surroundings or when moving. What makes the darker one appeal more is that while light on light will work good at many different surfaces it will never beat the contrast and siluette erasing of dark on dark camouflage like woodland ghillie in a fir tree. Bushes will also be rendered darker than they are at a distance so the "woodland" can work surprisingly well in say a red/orange bush even if it's painfully obvious up-close. When it comes to grass both of them will be very low key in their respective grass/field when in close proximety but at a distance the green will be an obvious dark dot as BCbasher mentioned. Also, most players wont even see grass when looking through sights or at a distance greater than 100-150m anyway so this can be fatal. So going for the woodland you have to be alot more conscious about your surroundings and backdrop but if you are you will have the superior static camouflage in my opinion. Keep us updated on the rendering test results.

Hello there, I can confirm that spraying ghillie works after doing so yesterday on stable. Spraying from tan to woodland requires 40% of a green spraycan for hood or wrap and 75% for the top piece. If you then add the same ammount of the black spraycans you will end up with the mossy (dark) colour. Once sprayed you cant go back and adding more paint will have no effect other than draining the cans. Good luck!

What you describe is what makes PvP in DayZ so exhilerating to me. Stress will always be a factor but excitement will gradually come to replace the haunting panic. Practicing PvP is very rewarding, the adrenaline rush you get while aiming down your sights with bullets impacting around you is what makes come back for more. Good luck! -
I would guess it's nighttime with maximum brightness and graphic settings tuned to match. Either for convenience or hardcore PvP.

About upcoming stamina system, player speed reduction, vehicles and other premature game changes

While I agree with you gameplay-wise I think that this is what we have to expect from an alpha game. If they had to wait to get to step four before moving onto step five the process of making it to release would take too long. They have to cut in the curves so to say. That and to deploy large changes by bulk to get the best development reserch and results (0.55 etc), if they were to take it from point to point slowly developing the game we would be left with a better alpha but in the stat it was in last summer and no realistic release in sight. Parallell projects in development overlapping rather than being strictly linear is what Im getting at but... don't ask me after I've lost a two week character due to exiting a truck. -
As do I, too bad we probably never will be able to bear witness to if our noxious little act bears fruit ^^

I agree completely, it seems to be a universal way of display to others that you have bad intentions. Which is a good thing, I've had some hillarious encounters with them. Gas mask? I'd say it's there with the face-tied bandanas in the borderland. It does not spell it out right away as the clownmasks do.

Never trust other players, you may assist them but don't trust them. Just assume that everoyone tries to kill or betray you, it's not about secluding yourself, just being aware of this will make you live longer than if not. For example, if I meet a freshspawn who asks me for food I will assume that: He is a bandit player who just died in Elektro and spawned. His friends are on their way (sprinting) as he tells them on skype that "I just met this decked player! I'll try to ask for food and stall for time, hurry!" I will perhaps give him a can and make clear that if he follows me I'll kill him. Then depart in separate ways.
