    I survived another hypothermia with 1200 energy. Since that I'm carefully searching for a raincoat but no luck so far. Since I don't want to risk any encounters with the infected I get some training with the bow. I think I found only 3 cans of food, so apples and chicken are very important. I did not notice any unusual crashes or other performance issues (but I think I was alone on DE-2).

    Back to DayZ and experimental. The weather is brutal on exp. I just died three times to the environment. The first time I not doing bad when I arrived in novod. I was getting cold but planed on just running to the next village - but then I heard a pack of wolves. So I decided to make a fire inside a house in novod. But it seems that the fire place in the houses is not working, outside the infected did fight against the wolves and inside I tried to get a fire going - by the time I had the fire burning I was hypothermic and died. But it would have been RIP anyhow because the wolves did camp my house and I had no working gun. The north is really "wolf country". Respawn, it's raining constantly, I did not find a raincoat (or food), get cold + hungry and die. But I found a barrel in Belaya Polana and stored the few items I found there. After the next try further south I got another northern spawn. Luckily it stopped raining for a short period and I was able to grab my stuff from the barrel and build a fireplace next to an apple tree. The rain started once more but I was picking apples and did not get wet next to the tree. From time to time I cut another branch and put it in the fire. After some time was Energized/hydrated/Hot :-D

    That was a pleasant surprise when I saw my screenshot used in the dev team tweet :) @emuthreat and @starvingart you are both in the screenshot Played on a 1pp server for some time. The general performance did not improve compared to the last iterations - I'd say it even got worse. The infected had an "force grappling hook" and did pull me back through walls and made the fights very unpleasant. I discovered a small military outpost near the Berezino Hospital and one near the crossroads between Berezino/Gorka/Polana/Dubrovka. That's a nice addition: found a uk vest and a tactical shirt and boots. Is the location based loot already working? Before going in the forest west of Vyshnaya Dubrovka I heard a barking while looting the last house. Some wolves started to attack the infected. I did watch the attack from the house. Some infected did aggro on me and did stand in front of the window while the wolves continued to attack them. Luckily I had enough 9mm rounds and started to take out the wolves - but then the server did crash again (happened twice within 1 hour).

    You can find good gear relatively fast if you leave to "most traveled paths". That does not mean you have to go to the center of the map or the far north. It's relatively simple: if you enter a town and the first houses you check have no loot (or just useless stuff) don't waste your time and go to the next town. The coast is often picked clean that's true but there are many towns you can reach in 10 min from the coast that have everything you need to get started. Yes it can happen that you don't find a gun for a long time: but that's also part of the game and you can craft a bow (with the new changes it's great to use) and still defend yourself. Starving is also easy to prevent: pick some apples. Yes it's kind of boring but keeps you alive. If you are to lazy to do that it's your own fault. I think many streamers (who used to stream dayz but left it now) expect to be DayZ more or less deterministic: Every time you play it you have a certain set of gear after X minutes and have Y interesting player interactions within the next minutes. If this does not happen the game is broken and the devs are wrong. This mindset does completely miss what DayZ is: a survival game. Survival means: adapt to the situation and environment. If you don't want to do that then (vanilla) DayZ is probably not the right game for you.

    I just got killed by an infected with a single hit (Energy 4990, Blood 4300). Before that I stepped in a bear trap and got a sprained ankle and used a splint afterwards. But my character did not stop moaning (I did not find enough food and so I did not manage to get the healing indicator). After looting some more towns the moaning did not stop and the next infected that did hit me killed me instantly. So I think it's safe to say that the splint mechanic was also changed compared to .60. Do we have a general idea how the damage model now works?

    Everybody has to buy a color calibration device and have it attached to the screen while playing. The device measures the actual visibility on the screen and the engine then adjusts brightness/contrasts/colors so nobody has an unfair advantage :-D

    My new monitor that I got earlier this year displays the nights much brighter compared to my old one (same gamma/brightness settings). So I don't think that it's possible to prevent some players from seeing more than others (because even the hardware itself can make such a large difference). But I agree that that gamma boost nvg is kind of lame.

    I notice exactly the same thing. The hospital + tec building are chest holster heaven, the large deer stands in the north only have range finders. Some time ago I created a ticket here https://feedback.bistudio.com/T120751 if you have more intel maybe you can add it there. I also observed the teleporting of dropped items back to the spawn point (also true for barrels). I think I noticed another problem with the sync of infected. If you approach an over watch position in an area with infected I noticed that sometimes you can see infected that are bouncing/warping around until they start to behave normally. Today I even saw it from relative close range: a deer was stuck in a village and some infected did chase the deer but the movement was really choppy and suddenly all infected that did chase the deer did aggro on me (I was still far away). That was kind of strange since I had suddenly a large amount of infected chasing me although there where no along the path I entered the city. I suspect that they did spawn behind me. I created a ticket for that as well https://feedback.bistudio.com/T121449 Generally I really enjoy the initial "gear up" phase. You can find enough items to get started but not enough to get bored soon. Here are two screenshots of the evening/a rainy night. The screenshot from the night is a bit dark but in game it was a really fitting and believable atmosphere.

    I just had my first encounter with wolves: in the middle of the forest north west of Nagorone I heard howling coming closer and closer. Luckily I knew the location of a nearby deer stand and sprinted there. I climbed up the ladder and already saw a large pack coming my way. Without the deer stand it would have been RIP. If you ask me that's much better than any weapons they added/will add to the game.

    I think that was changed at some point after .56 or something like that most of the trees give you bark that can be used to craft a hand drill kit. I don't think that's an issue that's only happening with wolves: Maybe your "core bone stat" was low. Wobo has multiple videos on this topic.

    Did not try it for some time but I think with a knife you can cut an armband back to an rag. For a hand drill kit simply combine bark and wooden sticks. What do you mean with "stacking items for slots"?

    I just played on DE2 and somebody took a shot at me while I was looting the houses just south of Mogilevka. I tried to push him since I had a shotgun but the encounter felt like .60 and before: The desync was real. He hit me while I was standing behind a corner, I shot and hit him with the shotgun from 2m but he did not drop, then he took another shot while his model was not aiming at me and I was dead. I think he only had a crossbow. Maybe we kill traded maybe not. So I heard that the shotgun got a buff but I did not really notice it in this situation. While I usually don't complain about such stuff: for .61 the goal is to improve server performance but I feel like the patch from today was maybe a step back (or no improvement). Even after I re spawned the movement was jerky and I got stuck in nearly in every building.

    Yeah you are right. Hicks said in the first post that they are searching for server performance issues/status not updating/stuttering while aiming and all of that was the case so I created a ticket.

    There is a ticket on the subject (maybe you did report it?): https://feedback.bistudio.com/T121192 @Hicks_206 (DayZ) I guess you will see it in the logs but the server performance on "THE TEST" server was not good for the last 30 minutes or so. Everything was really choppy and I got stuck on nearly every door. Additionally my status indicators did not update. The status windows still said hydrated/energized but I did not regenerate any blood. I ate many cans and nothing changed. Relogging did not change anything. A related question: should I post something like that to the tracker or is the forum good enough?

    I did not notice any difference between the regular exp servers yesterday and the "THE TEST 1" server today. I don't know if this was already reported (it's really hard to search the new issue tracker) but I noticed that the weapon sway was really large and that the gun does to usual "elliptic movement" but then jumps back to another position every few seconds. (I did use a splint, did not move for a long time but this did not change anything). Did somebody else notice this? Can the feedback tracker get some form of version field? Or at least print the created date on the search result page. I don't like this tracker at all. Every time I visit the site I have to add the Dayz Tag to the search options and it takes so much longer to check if a bug is already reported. Imho the old mantis bug tracker was more intuitive to use.
