Just a huge tent, right in the middle of the road. Love it. It is the privileged life.

[sorry, this is longer than I expected, but is based on a true DayZ story] It is only fair and just, to never kill a member of the speaking teams, for trust. But darkness upon me once fell, and little did trust to quell the rage. (The reason upon this page I will tell.) A day I arose to the chittering of young, chittering of friends fallen in Berenzino they sung. “Follow us, and and lend your aid,” They squawked as they rested a 1911 in my hand, “For if truth be told of thee, we desire no other, to join us in this escapade.” Down, down we strove, three strong, into the midst of Berenzino we dove. And before long, we came upon the train station. Several of hostile intent awaited inside, they that have caused us emasculation. 1911 in hand, as prepared as can be. My fellow with M4 fell upon the left door, and was brought down low. Down I took the right door, twice was my trigger pulled thrice, and hard they fell to the floor below. My fellow’s M4 arm I took as my own. I rejoiced aloud, for those who would harm us were all but sowed into the ground. Upon me did three youth return. As I stood as ward, they stood around. Not a care in the world as they looted the bodies. Was it only I, who yearned for higher ground? Enter in a new face. Without challenge, she came into the place. Speaking in teams, I her identity demanded. Without warning, her hands fell upon my head. Into darkness I landed. Arose I again, for the youth have responded. Tho she was low, I was still despondent, for they have returned to their misering. For fresh loot only, were they desiring. Another from the teams that spoke, came upon us. The one whose arm I held, by a hail of gunshot was broke. Ignorance and deafness have wrote for our own to lie breathless. “Hark!” I cried, “For several of us stand yet! Aid me you fools, for they will return I bet! You to the door, you to the other, and my third younger brother, throw the spoils under. We may avail ourselves of the loot, but if it lies upon the bodies for too long, it will go kaput!” “Truth!” Was the hurrah, but nothing had changed. Greedy hands sifted through the remains, as if they were deranged. I took it upon myself, to save the wealth. and then returned to position, darker growing my disposition. Through a door suddenly screamed the fires of hell. All three of the youth at once were struck by the tirade, and quickly fell. Return I, my own venom, then behind a desk I dove. My own ammo spent was only a tenth of what I owned. I flew to the door, but there was none to be seen. To the corner I did flee. Round, round I went, and where again the building was bent, I came upon the avenger. Lent him I did, a clip-full of bullets. I, the sole revenger. He returned in kind, before his demise. Thus was I broken and slept in shadows once again. Yet I felt ease of mind, and waited to arise. But upon my dying ears, I swear did hear, the chittering of youth. Upon the speaking of teams, they spoke I tell in truth, of ignorance, as to what has been afoot. Lashing hate tore, spat, fire unabated inside. My end I chose myself, I did not debate it. Time had passed. Arose I again. To another team I once again was speaking. My ears did hear, I did fear, a youth from the time gone bad. Lashing hate tore, spat, fire unabated, ashes spewed and broiled, my soul snuffed cold, my plan steered bold. In the tongue of of a snake did I tell him to meet me. Upon the road did I intend to defeat he. Silencing the teams that spoke, to the road I went. My gun I did stroke gleefully. We came upon each other, we spoke as brothers. But then I did suddenly lash out, a few loud flashes, and he laid before me smothered. “Woa unto thee!” I moaned, “For thy company I was betrothed! But as you have failed me in thy youthful belligerence, my trust has become ignorant! Woa unto thee, the youth of tomorrow! For you no more will I follow!”

Maybe I'm lucky, maybe it's the servers I play on, but I'm actually having quite a few friendly interactions. I was playing a few days ago with my brother, played for about 5 hours, ran into a number of friendly players. We were geared up at one point, met another geared player in the middle of the woods on a dirt path outside Dolina, and instead of shooting each other up, we had a friendly conversation for literally ten minutes. This was on the [uS] Blue Waffle #3 server. It was 50-50 friendly players that day, good time. Other servers that I've experienced the most interaction in is: /r/ DayZUndergeround [schizophrenic community, different attitude at different time of day/ on different days] [=UN=] DayZ private hive #1/#2 [not exactly the friendliest, but almost always has a lot of players on, and there is a lot of fun to be had] My advice is to stick with private servers. Not being able to server jump cuts down noticeably on PVP. People you run into want to co-operate more often, when they have to rely on the same server for loot. [NOTE: Sometimes with private hives, like =UN= #1 and #2, you can actually carry your characters over from one to the other. If it gets filled on one, jump to the other]

Can you sneak/make no sound when walking?
deadjuice replied to marcusostl's topic in General Discussion
This is the best method I know of. Not really a viable method of sneaking around a whole house, but if you're in a room and need to silently get into a better position in the same room, it's a good idea. I did this a few times when I think I'm alone in a town, but then see or hear someone outside. Hump my way behind a couch, gun up, catch the guy coming in, and initiate a "Hey hey, it's okay, I'm friendly" declaration. With me at the advantage. -
I've only rage quit DayZ SA twice, and one of those times was when I just died and lost a great character, but I had managed to get some nice stuff for my next spawn in a remote city. I'm running down the sidewalk, actually feeling good about myself. I see a two-foot high ledge in a plaza, and gleefully sprint off it [Note: not even jumping]. I'm dead when I hit the ground. A two foot high ledge.

Even when persistence was on, people have always placed tents in front of that shed in Kamy. Always in the same spot in the middle of the road.

I play on a potato. After tooling around with stuff, I get 40+ outside of towns, and 25 inside major cities. When .57 hit, the game felt a bit smoother, my FPS was a bit better. But there are several towns now that kill my FPS. Beranzino used to have little effect on me, and now it's a stuttering mess. Same with Electro, I don't hang out in Electro for long since the patch. Cherno, of all places, works WAAY better than these towns. I've found myself almost getting 30 FPS here. Novo isn't much better than before, maybe a little more stable. And those new school houses are a nightmare for FPS, jesus.

I don't get how it's a trap, ore a good deed. I'm confused as to even the point of it. Very confused.

Emergence in DayZ; What is it? Is it good? KOS'ing?
deadjuice replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
Go for it man. I wish you had even more support, I seriously think your "Essay" talks, are going somewhere good in explaining things on a level that talks to games that aren't just DayZ, but also the games like it, and have brought out a number of questions and answers that need to be for this game to develop. Your trucker PS is fucking great. I can't even begin to decipher it. I'd guess it means: "I got two aggressive geared players in this town [Prig = particular town that you passed?]; warn your friends, and drive around it!" -
A unfortunate note I need to add now: Based on the developer's twitters, elements like tent persistence and zombies being reintroduced in their proper state (respawning properly), most likely wont happen until .58. It's a shame, and has a strong effect on the game at the moment, Obviously, PvP is dominant right now without the zombies. I personally don't mind, because there is fun to be had with that. PvP. PvP, but in a game with hunger, thirst, blood levels, and broken bones. Once the game is gold, I will happily play some servers that are PvP focused, as long as they keep the tenants of the game intact. But I have just gotten my brother into the game, after expounding on him for awhile about the survival elements. [i brought him a copy Btw, instead of talking him into getting it himself] He's enjoying it a LOT, he's already clocked 157 hours into it, [he sated from the .55 patch, btw] and I got it for him very late last month. And he's very good at games, he's gotten into several firefights, and usually comes out on top. He's gotten owned by KoSers, and then hunted them down and rektd them, for the most part. But, he really is a nice guy, and from what he tells me, he YEARNS for the immersive wonderful typical social interactions accosiated with DayZ. He's luckily had several in the meantime, but in general, .57 is the worst time for it right now. It's a damn shame.

I just got my brother into the game, and now tents aren't persistent (heck, civ ones weren't even working right last patch). Can't wait till it comes back. We both want to be immersed into the survival experience, and have somewhere to stash our lovely loot, and also have a time saving recouper for when we die. Thanks for the manual, I'm going to read it, and I'm sure my other brother will absolutely love it.

And a thousand posts. Nice timing.

I understand the fear of not paying attention to slots and accidentally dropping something like a MP5K or AKSU, because you shoved some peaches in the way. Whenever I find a high capacity vest, I put my submachine gun into it, and put that last in order in my inventory. It fills the vest completely, and I rarely have to worry about accidentally clicking loot into it.

The truck is very valuable. A truck can save players hours of running. They can be stored at camps for group missions. There are several reasons why someone would kill for a truck. Even if you don't want a truck, or dislike using them, you still realize the importance of them to other players, including the ones driving them. I play with my brother a lot. He is very friendly, and like to interact with other players. But he also likes getting into firefights, and hunting down bandits and snipers. So me and him spend half our time wandering the west for optimal gear for our playstyle, and the other half on the coast with people. During the initial first half, having a vehicle to get around is key to quickly hitting important areas and saving play time. But, at least on the servers we normally play on, trucks are hard to find, as someone has always gotten to them first. So, whenever we see one while wandering the west (we would never do it to someone having a Sunday drive on the coast), we make it a mission to stalk them down, ambush them, and appropriate it. Partly for the fun of the mission, and partly because we really need it.

I'm surprised no one actually knows what's going on with them. When, .57 hit, several things happened to the Infected: There are a few more total Infected on the map now [up from 1100 to 1240], and they have been redistributed from more smaller remote locations to more popular bigger towns and cities/areas. But, currently, they do not respawn when killed. At least not until a server restart, sometimes even not then. This is temporary. When asked on Twitter on the disappearance of the Infected, and when they'd be back, I believe it was Eugene that replied "Sooner than you think". I believe there might be a hotfix planned for .57, maybe it will turn on persistence again and Infected respawning, but I can't be for sure on that. While they have admitted that the Infected's bad code does affect FPS, the choice to not have Infected respawn has little to do with the increased performance. The increased .57 performance was gained via tweaking in several different areas of the game, including engine and architectural.

Emergence in DayZ; What is it? Is it good? KOS'ing?
deadjuice replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
That was an awesome article, Flimflam. This is an great discussion going on here, thank you guys for starting this. Some of the most interesting and well thought out stuff I've read on the forums yet. I have very little to say, as there is already so many good ideas going around. I really really hope the developers are reading all this. One of my most favorite ideas here is for increased range of walkies, so that they can be used as a [better] form of global chat. It's such a sensitive fragile situation to try and communicate with other players face to face in a game like this, even when everyone is unarmed. There are very very few scenarios, where opposing groups of players run into each other, start communicating as human survivors to other human survivors in a dangerous world like this, and not have it go south from there, due to paranoia or opportunism. If walkies where used a lot more, it could help with this. You can be on the edge of town, and send a callout for X town, stating my intentions and appearance, and hopefully getting into contact with the local survivors. Emergent trucker slang. -
People in my groups used to be bewildered or annoyed when I chose to stick with the double rifle over something like a mosin. [Note: they used to take the same rounds several patches ago] Bolt action is great and all, but something about the blaze just feels really good. It's usually the first rifle I pick up, and it's usually the one I take to the grave with me. I haven't tried the new Winchester. I have one on one of my current guys, and haven't even fired it yet. The iron sight looks beautiful, and five rounds like the mosin is nice. But bolt action with no scope is not something I like having. It's gonna have to feel real swell for me to keep it.

Created a character, and seriously, as some feedback, you need to make the character traits copy-pastable or something I know you can't just make the Command-console responses be copy-past-able. But maybe you could make the program shit out a word file, or a note file, or something. Nationality: Kiwi. What in the fuck does that mean!? [one serious thing I think you should add, and I know it wouldn't be easy, but it would be awesome, would be a short description of the various traits] I kind of figured out, from a quick 10 minute google reference study, is that Kiwi is a very thick Australian accent? I'm just gonna run with it, even thought I ignored the New Zealand aspect of it (I think). Gender/Name: Male/George. Okay. Color: Green. Gear: Civilian. Okay, I can role with this. Actually sounds like fun to stick to it. Weapon: Handgun. That is something I was aiming to do anyway, pure handgun character. Honest. Addiction: Control. Ok, interesting. Not my strong suit, but I think I can work it. Phobia: People. Hard when considering the addiction, but I also think I can work it as well. Trusting: Gullible. Could be fun. It's very contradictory, but can be very interesting to develop. Strategy/Courage/Optimism: Normal. Okay, so standard human being. And somehow, I closed the window accidentally before reading the other ones, Dammit. Will work with what I have have,

I've come up with character using my imagination, that are more interesting than a personality generator can achieve (Safety Danny, coming late 2015, watch it here). That's no fault of the generator, it's very neat. I think this generator can be very useful for people trying to mix up the typical "Get geared up and find trouble/interaction" cycle everyone suffers through. I find myself doing the normal loot shit, and due to experience, trying to be nice to bambie players while not trusting them in the slightest, while trying as hard as I can, to not KoS someone, just because they ave a gun and a sweet bandanna mask. you can;t trust everyone, but you can have fun with your playtime as well. I feel some players would stop wasting time deciding if they want to and so gun, and so and so clothing, if they just had a particular experience to follow and act out. It could be healthy for some player to fuck with from time to time. I'ma go use your generator, take the first result, and make a play-style out of it. just for shit and giggle. I'll report later tonight how it worked out. In the future, I'll actually try and film it, I just need to get resources together. It will look like shit (my laptop is crap), it will probably be retarded (I'm not the best actor), but I'll do my damnest to work with what the generator gives me. it could lead to a good youtube series in the right hands.

Thank you anyway. I was busy with stuff when you replied, and couldn't get back to this to read it. (Either way, I searched those tents with my brother during .55, and never found them, guess they are just rare/grabbed up.) I'll reply again if I find the new spot for them. :D

DayZ Vehicles (first implementation)
deadjuice replied to eugenharton's topic in News & Announcements
I.. wasn't trying to revive an old thread. Was just stating a fact. ...Sorry, I guess? :C -
About bugs like this: the same day I had the problem mentioned above, my brother had a status glitch, where it said he was hot. His water didn't drain any faster, and his clothing's heat index was lower than mine, and I wasn't hot. We were also uphill, and normally, it's colder at higher elevations. For some reason, that's exactly when it happened: when we went to a higher elevation, he got the status. Defiantly a bug. Edit: Sorry, don't know how that relates to your experience exactly, but I feel it's a definant bug dealing with status effect stuff.
