    turning flashlights on/off

Not for headlamp, that does need to be turned on in inv. But the flashlight should easily be able to be turned on with the middle mouse/scroll button. Unless they changed it in experimental or something. I swear I've found a few. But I'm also particularly lucky. ...and play the game most of the time while drinking a few beers. Maybe I've been licking potatos all along, and stupidly mashing the innards into random slots in electronic gadgets.

So we can't drink from water wells?

But, working pumps that haven't been maintained after the Apocalypse? Hey, it's an interesting idea at least. Maybe something for a potential mod. And my opinion is that Kamy's pump defiantly needs to be working. Because even with all the conflict that happens there now, it's just such a small quaint likable town. I dunno, something about it makes me think the pumps would work there.

    Bikes Confirmed = New Goal

Why? I really wanted to ride a bike when it comes out, it'll be portable [just stuff it in a bush outside of a town] and relatively quite. And now I'm afraid to. Seriously though, this part killed me.

    Obtain higher FPS in DayZ

Si-SIR, I quite disagree with this! Alpha is usually a time to shove features in, to make sure basic mechanics are working, and to stomp out major bugs if possible. Performance and other bug-work is usually reserved for beta or late alpha. I don't believe this is a time where playability is typically supposed to be the fundamental, and in fact, I think in several cases, they have gone out of their way to ensure playability for the alpha players. [it sucks when they turn off zombies/persistence, or certain features are delayed. But this is usually to preserve playability] inb4 someone makes a crazy defensive rant, just because someone isn't happy with how alpha is working out

    Obtain higher FPS in DayZ

Eh, I'm used to having task manager ready and speed clicking DayZ to high priority. For some reason, I just feel more secure in changing it before the game starts, as opposed to tabbing out and changing it ...really makes no sense when I think about it now. :\ I'll check back if I discover a way to make it launch at high priority. It seems like something you should deffiantly be able to do. [bTW, for people that use the -winxp launch parameter, that will make the game crash when you alt-tab. I used it early on, and it did help FPS a bit. But I got sick of accidentally alt tabbing/not being able to, and got rid of it. I believe it may be an obsolete command now, or isn't that effective anymore, because I've barely noticed a difference in FPS having it on or off recently] I'm confused about the last part: By killing task manager, that doesn't mean it'll reverse the priority change I've made by any chance, does it? Or do you mean it just closes the task manager window?

    Obtain higher FPS in DayZ

I tried this yesterday, and it actually worked pretty good. Now, that's for me and my shitty laptop with a crappy AMD APU and 4G ram. I had to unpark, delete bloatware, turn off unnecessary processes and graphic effects, turn everything all the way down, mess with config files, low scene complexity and 1000 view distance, etc. a bunch of other things, just to get it to sometimes average out at 30FPS. Turning off processes and setting priority helped a lot, but I must have missed a lot of things, not to mention the other tweaks it does for you, because I got 5 to 10 FPS more in general, and it was way more stable than usual. I only remember one random severe FPS drop moment, (that only lasted for a few seconds) in the several hours I played with it [Not counting the obvious ones like the new school and lower now-very-dense Berezino area]. I happily was able to turn textures and object detail up a bit, it's so much better now. I didn't use the built in FPS counter, because I didn't trust the program when I first tried it. I used the Steam FPS counter to get an approximation. My FPS test: I'm going to ask my brother, who has a very good expensive gaming Asus laptop and has little trouble running the game and getting decent FPS, if he'd be willing to try out the Razor program for comparison. I doubt it'll help him, I think it just straightened out MY bad settings I may have done with my laptop or processes or something. Thanks for recommending this OP, because it is helping me. When it's not giving me more frames, it's at least making it more stable, for the most part. .

    Obtain higher FPS in DayZ

Saay, that's a nice voice ya got there. I'm sick of having to turn off all my process every time I want to play, or have to restart for some reason. But my laptop benefits greatly when this is done. Just the fact that it'll do this for me, and probably know more stuff that can be turned off, I'm defiantly going to give this a try right now. Do you know if it can also set DayZ Standalone to always play at high priority? I usually turn Steam on low, and DayZ on high (Realtime is unstable for me sometimes). I have to race through the task menu and set it to high before the game starts, as I'm not sure how to make it run on high by default.
  8. Foward: And now I am a happy monkey. Thank you DayZ devs.

So we can't drink from water wells?

I'd like wells (pumps, whatever) to be far less common. They should be an infinite source of pure water, but they should be rarer to make areas where wells exist hotspots. A group could hold a village that has the only well in walking distance of NWAF, for example.I agree that pumps could or should be rarer. And possibly run out of water. Water is far too common across the map. Those little ponds and water holes are everywhere. Why not put some zombie corpses in some of them an contaminate the water. Something the purification tablets couldn't fix.Yes, to all of this. There are plenty of ponds, and there is a risk using them, albeit small. (You apparently only can get sick when low on health/blood. I personally don't ever use tablets, and have been 100% fine drinking from ponds.) I like the ideas here. It makes for an interesting goal for clans/groups at worst, and another form of player interaction/trade at best. ["Hey HEY, I got fresh water from Kamy! FRESH WATER FROM KAMY! Legit! Just want a round of mosin ammo! Pure FRESH Kamy water!"] Either that, or make the ponds more dangerous. Which I don't like, because that might make it too tough to get water in worse case scenarios. When all the pumps are locked down, and everyone is getting sick just trying to hydrate. ...and yet, that might truly be apocalyptic. :D

    The mysterious hidden Vault

Huh, there is an interesting tidbit in the trivia section: This sign is supposedly the exact center of the Chernarus landmass (NOT the center of the map, which includes the water off the eastern and southern coasts). This is to serve as a marker to divide the landmass into four quadrants for development purposes. If this is true, maybe that's what caused the strange geometric shape in the first place.

want akm plus ammo? Hurry - no trap

Oh I'am aware, believe me. I've gone through literally a dozen characters wielding AKM and AKs since .57. I currently have five different private hives of fully geared guys, as well as my public.
  13. That sucks OP, sounds like an epic time. It only takes one opportunist to ruin something great for someone, unfortunately. Though, in my very most recent play on Blue Waffle #3 server, I actually found some fun people, and had a great, if simple, time in Berenzino with people I've met (admittedly, outside of Beranzino technically)
  14. The last person I met that carried two guns, met me and my older, brother both geared up, on a backwoods dirt path. He was able to explain the PM73 RAK that he was carrying was empty, and that he meant no harm, and was just carrying it until he found ammo. Luckily, we all decided to be civil, and it turned into an interesting, and literal, 10 minute conversation instead of a firefight. Me and my brother are primarily friendly players [him more so than me], and he always carries two guns on him. I feel that it is unnecessary, and does more harm than good to drag an extra arm on you all the time. But he is a certifiable perfectionist, and a loot loving fool, and can't bear to get rid of any guns he can carry. He is super friendly, and has just started playing. Me in my 495 hours, I fear for him running around with his cherish guns all the time like that when he plays alone, without me to back him up and explain things to worried players.

    NEW BOW!

I believe the ideal is balance. You can make one, but it won't be as good as finding a rare factory-made one. [e.g. the improvised silencer] But I also believe you in making an RL actual decent quality imp bow. The improvised bow in the game really needs some work.

want akm plus ammo? Hurry - no trap

I tried using the bow before. I practiced with it for awhile, I was taking out zombies with relative ease. Was escorting a player around, who suspiciously wasn't talking on his mic or texting. He tried to axe me when I turned my back in a house, and I thought it was going to be the perfect time to exercise my bow skills. I couldn't hit him for shit. Not one shot out of almost two stacks of arrows ever hit him. Players move way too fast and jerky, especially if you get lower FPS than normal, like me. The Imp bow is neat, but you need to practice for a long long time before seriously using it. Carry a backup sub-machine gun or pistol while training.

    Where are the animals?

For best luck, I'd head to the middle of the map, into the "wilderness". I don't know if this map is accurate, but in my experience, it gives you a decent idea of where to look. In my experience lately, it's like this: If you're looking for animals, you won't find them. If you aren't looking for animals, they'll be coming out of your ass.
  18. Awww. :C He mentioned in the begin that he's on experimental, where the persistence will be turned back on first. Whenever I've left a note, I'd leave it at the nexus of where people will circulate through a building. e.g. Police Station: Not on the front steps, people rarely mill on them. Put it right in the middle of the main room, the one with the circular stairs. One day, I was passing through Staroye heading west, along the typical route to Stary and ect. I was looting the whole town (I was pretty much at bambi, and was getting things for a friend as well), and felt a little guilty for leaving all the doors open and taking most of the goods, so I took what little was left, including a ton of food, some guns, and some backpacks, and left them in the police station at the aforementioned spot. I left a note along the lines of "Hi person behind me, as you read this, I am in the next town over. I left the extra V36 out-front, and left any loot worth taking here for you. See you again!" I continued to loot and leave similar notes on my way up. I'd loot and only grab what I needed, take anything worth looting the the police station, and write a similar note, but with a more desperate paranoid story each time. The last one I wrote, I believe I was in Kabino or Grishno. I said that I had found a gun, and I was scared and done writing messages, and told them to pray that we never met, in case I shot them in fear [Military loot is everywhere near there]. Don't know if anyone got around to reading them, but it was fun. I hope to see something like that happen myself.

DayZ "You are Dead" Sheet Music

For some reason, the site with the midi version doesn't play on the browser. [though you can download it, and maybe it's my Chrome browser being a snobby ass] Mp3 version took a minute to start playing, but that might just be my computer/internet. It's a really nice song. But the way it sounds right now, for me, doesn't fit dayz. It's a little too angelic sounding. A violin or piano, and a slower pace. I feel that would fit Dayz better. This type of music (the sound, not the construction or whatever) says "DayZ" to me. If someone else picks up the PDF and tries a new version, my personal recommendation is to aim for that sound. Forgot to add: I like your signature. Cool mottos. Know I've heard the light from the tunnel one somewhere, but what about the above ones?

    Freak Out

Holy hell that looks annoying! There are times when I play for too long, and a similar thing happens until I have reset the game, but this looks more intense. They mentioned something about this in the status report, but unfortunately in relation to .59: "In addition to these issues, bugs related to severe player position desyncronization are currently being investigated, and flagged as a must fix for 0.59."

    Dayz Poetry

[sorry, this is longer than I expected, but is based on a true DayZ story] It is only fair and just, to never kill a member of the speaking teams, for trust. But darkness upon me once fell, and little did trust to quell the rage. (The reason upon this page I will tell.) A day I arose to the chittering of young, chittering of friends fallen in Berenzino they sung. “Follow us, and and lend your aid,” They squawked as they rested a 1911 in my hand, “For if truth be told of thee, we desire no other, to join us in this escapade.” Down, down we strove, three strong, into the midst of Berenzino we dove. And before long, we came upon the train station. Several of hostile intent awaited inside, they that have caused us emasculation. 1911 in hand, as prepared as can be. My fellow with M4 fell upon the left door, and was brought down low. Down I took the right door, twice was my trigger pulled thrice, and hard they fell to the floor below. My fellow’s M4 arm I took as my own. I rejoiced aloud, for those who would harm us were all but sowed into the ground. Upon me did three youth return. As I stood as ward, they stood around. Not a care in the world as they looted the bodies. Was it only I, who yearned for higher ground? Enter in a new face. Without challenge, she came into the place. Speaking in teams, I her identity demanded. Without warning, her hands fell upon my head. Into darkness I landed. Arose I again, for the youth have responded. Tho she was low, I was still despondent, for they have returned to their misering. For fresh loot only, were they desiring. Another from the teams that spoke, came upon us. The one whose arm I held, by a hail of gunshot was broke. Ignorance and deafness have wrote for our own to lie breathless. “Hark!” I cried, “For several of us stand yet! Aid me you fools, for they will return I bet! You to the door, you to the other, and my third younger brother, throw the spoils under. We may avail ourselves of the loot, but if it lies upon the bodies for too long, it will go kaput!” “Truth!” Was the hurrah, but nothing had changed. Greedy hands sifted through the remains, as if they were deranged. I took it upon myself, to save the wealth. and then returned to position, darker growing my disposition. Through a door suddenly screamed the fires of hell. All three of the youth at once were struck by the tirade, and quickly fell. Return I, my own venom, then behind a desk I dove. My own ammo spent was only a tenth of what I owned. I flew to the door, but there was none to be seen. To the corner I did flee. Round, round I went, and where again the building was bent, I came upon the avenger. Lent him I did, a clip-full of bullets. I, the sole revenger. He returned in kind, before his demise. Thus was I broken and slept in shadows once again. Yet I felt ease of mind, and waited to arise. But upon my dying ears, I swear did hear, the chittering of youth. Upon the speaking of teams, they spoke I tell in truth, of ignorance, as to what has been afoot. Lashing hate tore, spat, fire unabated inside. My end I chose myself, I did not debate it. Time had passed. Arose I again. To another team I once again was speaking. My ears did hear, I did fear, a youth from the time gone bad. Lashing hate tore, spat, fire unabated, ashes spewed and broiled, my soul snuffed cold, my plan steered bold. In the tongue of of a snake did I tell him to meet me. Upon the road did I intend to defeat he. Silencing the teams that spoke, to the road I went. My gun I did stroke gleefully. We came upon each other, we spoke as brothers. But then I did suddenly lash out, a few loud flashes, and he laid before me smothered. “Woa unto thee!” I moaned, “For thy company I was betrothed! But as you have failed me in thy youthful belligerence, my trust has become ignorant! Woa unto thee, the youth of tomorrow! For you no more will I follow!”
