Do you need a tool to remove wheels from a car? I'm trying to remove a wheel from an Offroad and put it on my more fixed up one, but I don't know how to remove it.

    Fortifying villages?

I just watched the RTX 2015 video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnodPC2VPgI (Super hyped) After seeing the base building, I got curious. What if a player or a group set up a wall around a village? Or at least a small series of buildings. Would zombies and loot still spawn? Could a really powerful group make a wall around Elektro and turn it into a huge safe haven? Or will there be a limit?

    A well timed trap.

So, I just started a new game in DayZ on a new server. I spawned outside of Cherno, got some basic gear, a Trumpet Rifle, basic stuff. Then I come across this small building with a front porch. It's absolutely filled to the brim with Military vests, boots, AKMs, pistols and the like. I figured it must have been a glitched spawn so I take what I can and set off, feeling confident with my new M9, AKM, Military vest and dismantled Trumpet in my Drybag. The next building I search, I find a Mine. Not an armed one, just one sitting on the floor. After inspecting it to see if it really was armed, I took it with me. But then I hatched an idea. A wonderful, AWFUL idea. I trot on back to the glitched loot spawn and make sure to stand right in the middle of the pile before planting the mine underneath an AKM and running away. Later on, I go to check the fire station, fall off some of the stairs climbing the tower and sprain my ankle somehow. After stopping to check the wiki on how to make a splint, I set off for the nearby forest to find some sticks, rags already in hand. As I climb the hill toward the trees, I hear a very distant explosion back from the town. Hilarity ensued.

    "My stomach grumbled violently"

This is good advice and all, but I mean I literally CANNOT find anything. I search the buildings that spawn food and ignore the others, but still I don't find a single can no matter how long I search.

Well, I would but I constantly starve to death before I can even figure out where I am.

I understand the health system, I've played DayZ for a while. It's just the pure inability to find anything. I search every building I come across and there's never any food or water in them. I would likely starve before I find a truck, anyway. The only way I can get water is to be lucky enough to spawn near a well, but I still die of starvation later. I've also tried changing servers, but I never find a single bit of food on any of them.

I'm pretty sure you meant it as a joke, but incase you're actually serious, no. I search everywhere, buildings, sheds, ect. I even explored the whole of Elektro and didn't find anything once.

    "My stomach grumbled violently"

Guys, I need to know if I'm doing something wrong here. I've played DayZ for a long time, mostly the mod version. When I start the game, I go about as normal, but I can never find food or water. None of it. I would just walk around wearing cool clothes and having good melee weapons, but not a single bit of food anywhere. I search houses, apartment buildings, even a supermarket and I never find a single can of anything. I literally go on sprees of spawning, finding good gear and starving to death because there's no food anywhere. Am I doing something wrong here or is the food spawn rate just ridiculously low? I'm actually hearing about people wanting there to be LESS food so I think I might be doing something wrong.

    Most wanted feature?

LESS food? I'm dying of starvation every time I play, what the hell are you talking about?

Something brief that needs some addressing.

That might be it, actually. I honestly didn't think private and public meant anything :P
  11. 'Ello. I've been playing DayZ for a while and I've noticed a very serious problem. Some servers have persistence disabled, which means you start with a fresh character on them. The problem I've found is that, if I have a well progressed character (That has a gun, large backpack, ect), it is deleted upon joining a non-persistence server and I start with a fresh one. This means I have unwillingly lost a lot of characters to this. Some servers even say that they have persistence on, but upon joining, I start with a fresh character and it is too late to get my old one back. I'm sure this problem has been talked about before, but I find it to be a very serious one and I can only safely play on one server because of it. I would recommend an "Are you sure?" prompt upon joining a server with persistence disabled.

    DayZ Mod Hotfix 1.8.4.1

Does DayZ Commander not work anymore? I can never get Steam to work.

    DayZ Mod Hotfix 1.8.4.1

I started up DayZ Commander to download the update, but I couldn't find it on the list. It says 1.8.3 is the latest version but on the servers list, every server is on 1.8.4

    Overpowered Zamboozles

Well, I might just be bad at the game but I'm talking 10-15 hits (To the head) and by then I'm almost dead. It feels like it shouldn't be this hard to kill them. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong when I DO have to fight.

    Overpowered Zamboozles

Eyup. I'm an average DayZ player, but I only recently got SA. A big change I noticed is that zombies are much harder, if not damn near impossible to kill. I'll have gone round the map scavenging with little to no zombie trouble, I'll be wielding a trusty Crowbar and wearing my swaggy tank helmet, red woolly coat and army pants when I get spotted by a zombie. With the issues I'm having, this means game over for me as I can never lose zombies without getting more on my tail and combat is out of the question. When I have no other option, however, I'll raise my crowbar to defend myself and start swinging at his head when he gets close enough, but then here is where the issue arises. I swing and swing over and over again at the bugger's noggin and I'll get a hit every time, but it takes far too long for him to finally keel over and by then, my stuff is ruined and I have enough blood in me to fill a sippy cup. Back on the mod version, if I found an axe, I could handle myself easily with zombies. Get them inside a building and they're already dead, or, if you're in a field, just get lucky on that closeline click. It was one hit on the head and they're gone for good, which seems accurate. Now it feels like I'm wailing on a building with a Golf Club. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or that's just how the zombies are.
