When I had some friends come to Dayz and join up in a group "when there was zombies" I ended up getting shot more then when I was solo. Sneaking around carefully and jamming in and out of towns fast and getting back into cover was replaced with standing in town in the middle of the road talking about where to go. We ended up getting shot at a lot more then I was used too. We ended up spraying bullets at each other as one of us ran in a circle to avoid a zombie, lol.

Hmm being in California, I pick servers that are low ping like under 100, when I tried to mess around on UK servers with 150+ ping, I had the very same thing. Click on a can and wait 10 seconds for the animation to start. After about 20 minutes, I felt so unsafe with such a lag that I came back to a closer server.

I once again couldn't pick up some ammo last night and ended up getting it by moving away from it out of arms reach and it still showed on my ground search screen and when I was at the point where another inch would have it drop from search window, I tried to drag it to inventory and it made it. So I am adding that to the list of things to try when I can't pick something up. I guess it is a visual/location failure.

One thing that I love about the rain is how awesome it is to find a raincoat. Even if it is blue and sticks out like a sore thumb. I am running around in the pouring rain and cozy and warm and checking all kinds of buildings and others are huddled/jammed against a tree waiting for it to stop raining, damp or worse and cold and getting worse and watching their fireplace say "Can't light that here it is unsafe" It would be safer for you to freeze to death, I'm helping you by not letting you light me :-) Or the you can't light the fire because the rain put it out. I haven't had any fires vanish on me, but I guess that would suck too. Now the most awesome thing to find is just like in real in the same situation, a real nice jacket. The weather is a killer. I found a ak101, no mags, so I opted for the sks with three 10 round clips and a worn pu scope. Then I found a gorka jacket and ruined my sewing kit to get it to worn status. Now I can lay prone in the rain and crawl along the ridge with my binoculars, scouting for game and having a snack without worrying about freezing to death. I took my jacket/pants/gloves/boots setup to Canada about 300 miles north of Toronto in the winter to visit a friend and a local died in their car because they didn't have a candle to keep the air from freezing their blood in their lungs. I went for a walk down this country road at 25 below and she thought I was a dead man. Went and had a beer and bought some smokes in town and walked back. Good gear is the difference between life and death. FYI I found the jacket at tent city out west. Feel free to go collect my blue raincoat :-)

So we headed out to Elektro together on a little family vacation, meanwhile picking up a soldier on the way. I noticed that a couple of them couldn't stay up on the bridge but clipped through... I had to stay pretty close or they'd lose interest in me. They really do move slowly. Jogging was outrunning them. Eventually I had them trained pretty well and had them choreograph dancing to Thriller by Michael Jackson. For some reason they really like that song... We eventually made it to Elektro and did some behavior studies in the town square. I could once again get them to stand still in the road while close to them but if I moved a couple steps to the right or tried running into the police station, they'd follow. Another odd thing was when i hid outside of the wall around the red house next to police station, they'd go inside the the wall and try to hit me through it. Also, you can't lock them in buildings yet. I tried at the fire station. Then things went haywire as a player came along wondering what the heck I was doing. He decided to attack me with his hoe so I led him into my pack of kids, yelling "GET HIM KIDS" to which I eventually knocked him out with a sharpened stick. Then his 4 buddies came to avenge him and I knocked all of them out except one who ran away and I let the "kids" finish them off while they were on the ground. It was the most fun I've had in DayZ in a long time. DON"T MESS WITH ME AND MY "KIDS"! lol. P.S. I really have to get some video recording set up. It was quite the interaction with those 5 guys at the end. Wild ) The reasons I upgraded my video card to a gtx 960 was of course the wildly fast video performance and shadowplay, which lets me turn on in game recording which looks very nice and also the record the last so many minutes button, in case something happens and I want it on film, it's like a DVR. I suppose to get a screenshot with shadowplay, I could just watch the video and pause it and do a screenshot there.

On 1pp South Central 0-2 I was in a town and there was a barrel in a shed, I cruised for about 15 minutes Northwest and ran into that veresnik military base, so I think it was Vishnoye.

I never saw anyone last night, so I never saw the new gun bug. I wonder if you were walking with your rifle on your back, if your character would draw his rifle when someone was near? On another note, go to suggestions and give your thoughts on my Gun Range idea. :-D

It's been ages since I have driven a truck, but I hop out of the truck a lot during my travels, because it seems if I crash for any reason while in the truck, it puts me back to where I was last standing on the ground, which could be a long way if I drive across the whole map without getting out. Last time I crashed and had to run back to where the truck was when I crashed and there she was, parked like some drunk had driven it.

Last time there were zombies, a couple weeks ago for a couple days, they were acting pretty cool, I fired a shotgun and a couple came over to my position like normal and engaged me. But a little while later I only had 3 rounds left and I came around a corner into a zombie that was between a house and a shack and I had to shoot at close range and then I thought, better run, so I ran down the road about a block and spun around and 2 zombies ran to where I was and then started looking for me from there and I crouched down behind a fence and they didn't just automatically come to where I was. I did some testing and found the same thing at nwairfield in the tents. I ran near that truck to the nw corner of the tents and fired off 3 shots from a mp5 and then ran to the wall and slipped into the bushes and 4 zombies came out of the tents and came to the truck and then started creeping around looking for me.

How about a nice gun range with some different sized targets that maybe knock down and then reset after a bit. It would be great to have clear ground with no plants etc so we could go prone, 50 100 200 300 yards or the equivalent in meters. At the 300 yard section, there could be 3 sizes of targets. I suppose there is no way to make it a safe zone somehow. Once you get wild about the idea, you could have some "PULL" zombies that run out of a cattle shoot :-D

I spawned in Elektro and I can't leave! There is food everywhere and of course water, so why would I leave? Normally I check every house and then move on hoping to find something somewhere, but Elektro is overflowing with food. I found two shotguns and ammo, a 9 mm pistol with a damaged silencer and 2 mags, then a blaze with 2 speed loaders and about 60 rounds of .308. A rain coat which I just carry for when it rains. I'm carrying the pistol in my hands and suddenly I can't open a door or gate or drop the pistol. I relax for a minute and try the F2 but no animation and I am thinking I am crashed but still in the game. I log out and when I try to come back in I see 0 people and figure the server crashed or reset without a message and my pistol is gone and I am rewound about 20 seconds in a house I was just in. Look everywhere, no pistol. Drats! I meet this weird ugly old woman and she tells me to find her some things and tells me to go into the woods!

Every bottle/canteen I pickup first gets emptied and then placed into inventory for use later and if there is a mix up I just empty everything at the water pump and refill everything. I am still very amazed that I have never been shot while at a water pump. Might be the long quiet moments scanning for players and watching from a hill near the pump and also some luck. I'm pretty sure a couple times I had a player aiming at me with a rifle giggling and just not firing cause they felt sorry for me, cause a couple times I think I actually heard the giggling.

Last night I found a box of mosin/svd ammo and I couldn't pick it up. I tried all my moves all around it, prone, crouch, twist and shout and nothing and yes, I was not leaving without that ammo. I turned around and saw a can of food about 2 feet away under a chair and I grabbed that and ate it and turned back around and tried one more time before I was ready to scream and it plopped into my inventory. Possible the can of food was somehow blocking it 2 feet away or somehow tied to blocking it from being picked up. PS go to suggestions and check out my latest idea. :-D So to sum up, can't pick something up, try moving other stuff around the area. Stuff stuck in your hands or hands bugged, hit F2 a couple times to clear it.

Hunting scope on a trumpet?

Popped on tonight for a couple. Been playing something very old. Started on the coast, had a backpack and canteens and a shotgun with ammo pretty fast. Canned food was available and no zombies makes it a quiet stroll thru town. Jittery graphics, even with the gtx 960. Climbed up into a house and shut the door and imagined I brought some boards and nails and a hammer.

Have you tried logging out and back? Also, never have anything in your hands when you try to get on a ladder? Sorry your having problems. Ah new ui ..eek for now.
-
Have you considered Thurman that your camp is so vast, with buildings and vehicles and gear that it might be considered a town? Thurmanville might be getting picked up by some "for towns" despawn rules. :-D

I type because I am pretty sure typing goes further then mic. "Hello NW Airfield Tents!!" "I sure would like to stroll through here and look for gear!" "Is anyone around that objects?"

The house with the stairs up the side is where I have seen 2 mosin's so far. Past that I am never sure if where I find them is not where someone glitch dropped it and couldn't see it to pick it up or just plain dumped it by accident etc.
-
Ya I haven't had a mosin with ammo for awhile, but do now and I have a 1911 with 4 mags, which is rare for me.

LOL so your a blacksmith/sorcerer making nails using magic? Cool.

I found those yellow hay looking shrubs and terrain work well for worm digging.

Yes for a few weeks now.

Hmm that is odd, I started on the beach on a 1pp server with 100 ping. Everything is fine. Made a stone knife, ate some berries, got to a pump, found some clothes and a couple rifles and ammo, cans of food. Smooth graphics, no infected anywhere, lots of rain. No problems jumping fences. Yes some players kos, I think typing goes further then talking, so I usually type and say hi and see if they run or hang out and type back.

Yes a black m65 yesterday. It was in the log cabin looking house with the wool coats.
