    Developer Appreciation

I didn't read all the replies in this thread, so it has possibly been mentioned before. But I just saw the GIF of the guy entering the bus animations. And I gotta say, that shit is top notch. While I do not agree on quite a few of the choices the dev team has made, and I do think they're being slow, I gotta say that models and animations are the best I've ever seen.

    HELP A NOOB OUT?!

It all comes down to training really. You are new to the game. The people you are playing "against" might have 1.000 hours in this game. Give it time. You'll learn to be more tactical and stealthy. On another note. Get off the coast as soon as humanly possible. Nothing good happens on the coast. Last thing. Patience. Probably the most important thing in DayZ. It'll keep you alive.
  3. I was wondering how many programmers/resources are being used on improving third person mode? Rather than finishing the core game?
  4. Let me clarify. I meant the camera mode. It cannot be helped, and I do believe it's stupid to waste any more time on it.
  5. Actually, I don't mind third person. I want people to be able to play the game their way. If that includes third person, lasers or robot attack ponies, I say, knock yourself out. I'll play my way, you play your way. Nothing will be lost for either of us. Edit: I was really just curious as to how many resources goes to third person.
  6. I don't believe I did anything to claim it was a fact. I simply stated my opinion.
  7. Poor fellow.. Who knew game development was that dangerous! Edit: I was just curious. That's all.
  8. I voted I'd absolutely love it if they removed third person, as it's just retarded. It's such an inferior camera view. We all know why it's terrible, so I don't need to go into detail. With that said though, I'm torn. I want more people to be forced into trying first person, so they can finally see that it's so much better. But at the same time I think people should be able to play DayZ the way they want. And if the way their want to play it is incredibly stupid, that's up to them. Edit: On a side note. Hicks, you want a hardcore game, and you don't care how many people leave as long as it's your vision. So why not just remove third person? You know it's shit. We know it's shit. Now grow a pair and remove it.

    Let's talk performance.

Let's assume I buy a new computer tomorrow. It'll probably be around $1.700. Now let's talk about DayZ at launch. That's in a few years. By that time my PC won't be the newest thing out there, but in my opinion it'll be reasonable. Will DayZ ever run at 60+ FPS anywhere, even in cities? With no desync either.

    Let's talk performance.

Giving the price is enough for most people to get a general idea of how good the PC is. No need to post any specs. And yet again. Saying a "two year old PC" is also a perfectly fine way to explain how good, or bad my current PC is, without having to bring up specific specs. Saving everyone time. And you know absolutely nothing about me. If I have programs running in the background or not. Which I don't. Like I said. I have probably been gaming since before you were born. Obviously you're an immature child, who rages and lower yourself to semi personal attacks and silly assumptions. So I will just ignore you. So me and the other people who are interested in a proper discussion can continue.

    Let's talk performance.

The price of $1.700 was a quick guess. But in reality it's only $1.400 for the computer I looked at, when translated into US dollars. Shit is expensive in Denmark. But let me start to dismantle your pathetic rant. 1. I have done every single guide and config change you possibly can to boost the performance of DayZ. 2. I'm on a two year old PC, so buying a new one does into do a lot towards better performance. 3. "Take some time to learn before you come to play in our world".. I was probably in this world of PC gaming before you were born son. 4. I am a proud member of the PC Master Race. So please. I'd never even consider touching a console. 5. All I'm asking is if the game will be able to run at 60 FPS when it's released on a $1.700 machine.
  12. I think it would be nice if server admins could have the option to turn off the dexterity feature. Just like they have the option between private hives and publics, and first person and third, I think it would be great if admins could decide for themselves if they wanted their server to use the dexterity feature. Is there any possibility of this?
  13. Here's a perfect example of how retarded the dexterity system is. 5 people unable to kill a guy at point blank range. Please do tell me how the dexterity has any basis in reality.
  14. It doesn't tell you how many wouldn't have bought it either. This is all speculation, and pointless to discuss. And I understand why the developers has added the dexterity mechanic perfectly. In theory it's a good mechanic, especially in the cases you just pointed out. But then we have other cases where it's just makes for terrible game play. You've all seen the videos online, like the one I posted above. One guy with an axe, killing entire squads, because they can't hit him point blank. That's what I do not want.
  15. It's easy to speculate if the game has sold more or less copies because of third person. All I can say is that 99% of the player base plays it. And dexterity doesn't make the game harder, nor more unforgiving. It's just a clunky, silly mechanic.
  16. Because you'll sell more games? The whole point of making games is to sell them. And making games more available means more sales. Imgaine how much lower would the sales of DayZ be if they didn't have third person. Anyway. I'm trying to have a proper discussion with people in this thread, and since you're just being rude and childish now, I'll just ignore you.
  17. Obviously they're like me. They think that it's just a single mechanic which should be optional. So let's call that 3% of the full game that is DayZ. Why should they change game when they probably love the last 97% of the game? I'm gonna try one more time. Why do you care if people play differently than you? You'll have your vanilla server. Now let others have their servers. Should we remove third person as well, because it's a filthy easy mode and I can barely find any first person servers? No, we should not.
  18. So what if people turn every server into a non-dexterity server? That's up to them. That's like saying there shouldn't be third person, because practically every server will be third person. As it is now. I personally play first person exclusively, and I don't give a shit if people prefer to play third person. Why do you care if people choose to play on non-dexterity servers? Why wouldn't you want people to play the game their way? Even if it's not the way you want to play? So what if people turn every server into a non-dexterity "easy" server? That's up to them. That's like saying there shouldn't be third person, because practically every server will be third person. As it is now. I personally play first person exclusively, and I don't give a shit if people prefer to play third person. Why do you care if people choose to play on non-dexterity "easy" servers? Why wouldn't you want people to play the game their way? Even if it's not the way you want to play?
  19. Why would I change to another game if it's only 3% of the actual game I do not like? Why wouldn't we give as many toggles as possible for server admins? Let the people decide what they want themselves. Devs can go with their vision for the game, while leaving a toggle for people who doesn't share that vision. That's better for everyone. The people can play the game exactly their way, and the devs gets more sales, since it'll make the game more accessible because the features which otherwise might have stopped people from buying can be turned off.
  20. That's exactly my point. You should be able to play the game anyway you see fit. If it's with dinosaurs and cruise missiles, that's up to you. If you can afford a server, it should be entirely up to you how that server runs. And my problem with it is that it makes gun play just plain bad. You must've seen videos online of people killing entire squads with nothing but an axe. The squad desperately try and aim but is unable to because at all time their weapon is dragging behind their cursor. I'll give you an example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1I4cJhMGqhc I disagree. I have absolutely no problem hitting anything in BF4, and their running speed and lack of stamina is the same. It's like I explained above. I agree completely that the mod at times were nothing like the original mod, and that it was almost silly. But that doesn't matter. It's not up to us. If some people wants to play on a server that has invisibility cloaks, teleporting and godzilla, that's their choice. People should be allowed to play the game their way.
  21. I do like playing DayZ. But I do not like this one certain mechanic in DayZ. So should I choose another game because of this? I don't think so. But again I ask you. Why do you care if people play the game differently than you?
  22. But I do like playing DayZ. Why do you care if some servers play the game differently than you? Why wouldn't you want the game to branch out like it does now with third and first person? Why shouldn't people play the game like they prefer to play?
  23. You "don't care at all" huh? Seems like you're the single person in this thread who cares the most about not letting people play without dexterity. Dexterity isn't the sway the weapon makes when you're out of breath etc. It's the mechanic which makes your character unable to turn with his weapon as fast as the cursor can. Making the weapon drag behind the cursor.
  24. I can see what you mean. I only play first person, and I think people who play third person are silly. With that said, I don't care if they do. It's their way of playing, and that's up to them. I don't want to tell them to play a whole different game. That's their way of playing, and nothing wrong with that. So you guys shouldn't care if people play the game without dexterity. It doesn't hurt anyone if they set and up play the game differently than you. If you don't like it, don't play on their server.
