DayZ is the greatest game ever made
ColdAtrophy replied to ColdAtrophy's topic in General Discussion
I will say this about the game though. I'm getting bored with this 0.54/0.55 loot distribution hybrid, no CLE stuff. I know the initial implementation of the new distribution wasn't finished in that item tagging wasn't done on anything but the weapons, but I found myself really exploring the map again the way that I did as a new spawn and noob to the game in my first 100 hours or so. I still like to explore, but it does kind of suck knowing that, after a certain point, the only way to progress your character is to hit the same 15 or so locations each day. I have made a route that hits many of the police stations, more than half of the cop cars, and most of the military spawns. It's beginning to get a bit boring knowing that 85% of the locations on the map have nothing I need. I'm worried that the full implementation of the CLE in .56 (or .57, who knows when it will show back up) will bring us back to exactly this kind of distribution with the only major change being that the devs will have better/easier control. If anyone can chime in with any more information on the what the central loot economy might look like the next time we see it, that would be cool. -
DayZ is the greatest game ever made

I have to admit, despite the general negativity, that I do find this game, even in its current state, to be phenomenal. I absolutely love it. I see the flaws, to be sure, but I have been waiting about 10 years for games to finally begin to do what this game aims to do. To me, immersion is EVERYTHING and this game provides that at a level that I can't say I've ever seen before. I've also never genuinely had even the barest whisper of fear with regard to dying in a video game until this one. Say what you will about the current alpha state, but I don't think anyone can honestly deny that this game is in many ways a groundbreaking endeavor. -
The real trick is retaining your morality when you are faced by the worst, even when it would be advantageous to lower yourself to their level. I don't care that others have let the apocalypse turn them into animals. I only care that I am still a good man.

In this context though, the guy is lamenting the loss of the LRS for the Mosin because he dislikes the PU scope. According to the status report for April 29th, the Mosin will only accept the PU for now. The new Hunting Scope will not fit the Mosin.

I wasn't trolling. I was drunk. However, if you read the qualifier in the OP, then you will see that I am actually referring to the potential that the game has. -
If those are your only two options, then I'd say you should get the 25/5. If you do a ton of downloading, then maybe do the 50/1. Unless you are hosting a server on your own machine, gaming doesn't usually use much bandwidth. You should be fine either way. I can't believe that Charter cable internet has now surpassed Verizon FiOS, When FiOS first came out, it was some of the highest bandwidth you could get. I now get 60/4 from Charter. I pay $50/month and I usually actually speedtest higher than the bandwidth I'm paying for.

Good thing DayZ devs are in it to win the popularity vote, the AAA crowd. -
I just rented this server Friday. It has been up for 5 days. Camps untouched for going on 4 weeks now on two private servers and two public. Think like the hunter.
-
I knew about this one. However, the jerry can keeps despawning even from within a backpack or tent for me.
-
I could not agree more.
-
To be perfectly honest, even I have been forced to do a bit of server hopping and I think the practice is the bane of the public hive. But after playing for over a week and not finding anything but civilian weapons and an AKS-74U with no mags, I was forced to go to another one. Eventually, I just decided to rent my own server so at least I can still play while I'm waiting for 0.56. I tried to go back and play BF4 again but I just can't do it anymore.
-
Right and what I'm telling you is that DayZ uses 150-500 Kilobits per second. He gets 1500 kilobits per second. He's fine as far as DayZ is concerned.
-
I don't expect a response here, but any idea when we might see 0.56 hit experimental? I understand if you can't say.
-
I like your ideas. Who knows? Perhaps they will add some more things of that nature once they get the new inventory matrix into stable. I could see them holding off on more storage related items until after CLE, the new inventory matrix, and persistence are all in the game. Cart before the horse and all that.

I'm gonna try some rabbit snares again. I made 3 and then forgot about them.
-
Dude. So much knowledge packed into that post that I think my head is gonna explode. Just off the top of my skimming it: I didn't know that you could plant a potato. I didn't know you could make a canteen from a rabbit pelt. I didn't know rain would water your crops, although it makes logical sense. :beans: :beans: :beans: :beans: :beans:

My favorite part is the last verse starting with "Democrats!". -

Agreed on all counts. You touched one thing that I find to be especially important. This game is a massive milestone. Nothing of this kind has ever been done before. -
Praise RNGesus. Thanks SMoss for posting this. I found a lot of old stuff when I started playing this game three months ago and it wasn't always easy to tell what was meant for the mod and what was meant for the SA. :beans: :beans: :beans: :beans: EDIT: Can you clarify this? "VSync disabled if you don't have a 120Hz monitor." Wouldn't it be harder for a system to maintain Vsync at 120hz than 60?

I still don't get it. Is this another one of those stupid planking type things? EDIT: I read some more and I think I get it now. Didn't realize that was a thing. Also, for a mod, that was kinda dickish of you to post it that way. -

What the hell is slavsquat? -
Your calculations are wrong. 1.53 mbps = ~1500kbps DayZ uses from 150 - 500 kbps. These are all bits not bytes.

For what it's worth, I actually think it's perfect right where it is. As I said above, I turned on HDR and have my gamma and brightness set to default. I can see just fine at night and I don't have to keep messing with settings. I'm wondering if people are just not aware of the impact HDR has on visibility.
