Internal debug. Maybe tomorrow we get it. They must be rolling out sleeping bags at this point.

Let us say together the BIS prayer: Our devs, who art in a locked Test server, faultless be thy server hardware. Experimental 0.59 come, thy builds stable, so that we can move on to the zombie AI reintroduction build ASAP. Give us this day 0.59 and forgive us our hype, as we forgive your builder for crashing and burning. Amen.

Day Z as it should be : The Earth Abides

I'm just saying that the devs do not appear to have plans aimed at making this game, DayZ SA, as survival oriented as the OP was suggesting.

Day Z as it should be : The Earth Abides

I have a very strong feeling that this game will never be so survival focused. It doesn't come from a game that is that heavily survival oriented nor a studio that seems to have any real aim towards achieving such a thing.

Nope. When you relog, the bipod and flashlight will detach themselves.

Our developers, who art in Prague, hallowed be thy code. Thy zombies come, Hicks' will be done, in Chernarus as it is in Nespeny's head. Give us this day our next experimental and forgive us our impatience as we forgive those who server hop the military bases (not really).

All you Hardcore players packed it up and left?

I'm still around, but my 1PP buddy refuses to play with no infected so I play on a 3PP server with some new friends. Took some getting used to for sure. Also, I bought Arma 3 so I can shoot something. Waiting for hoppers to show up at a quonset on a low pop gets boring after awhile.

Did I do something wrong? Sniping in the Airfield

Like ikr. How dare he get immersed in a video game with a stated primary goal of immersion from a developer that has a history of creating immersive games?
  10. Chris wasn't talking about that kind of documentation. He was talking about documentation pertaining to the creation of new art for the game so that everyone has a standard and a set of rules. I'm not 100% sure about all that entails, but I'd imagine that it's best to have a core set of guidelines for anything new made for the game so that as little as possible has to be reworked or redone. I think he was comparing to The Witcher only because (based on the context of when he first brought it up) the guys at CD Projeckt Red had either just spoken before him or he had just spoken to them. Granted, this is just conjecture, but it's based on the manner in which he was speaking. I could be wrong. I actually agree with you here. As much as I love being a part of this, I hope other devs learn from the struggles that DayZ has gone through. If this was a project like one of the other EA titles I own (Stranded Deep or Interstellar Marines) wherein the devs were working with an established engine and simply adding features and bugfixing, it wouldn't have been a big deal. Instead they opted to develop Enfusion concurrently with DayZ SA and I can't help but feel that, while it will be best for the long run, neither the players nor the developers are well equipped to deal with the particular problems that this creates. However, if BI had gone the other route, they risked DayZ spending too much time out of the public eye which could have negated the relevancy of the entire project. I guess what I'm saying is that I feel DayZ SA's project is too complex to have player access to alpha builds. I think that, in general, we have as a community demonstrated that the majority of us can't even be bothered to read the rather simplistic weekly status reports, let alone report bugs to the tracker, or handle the massive fluctuations in functionality and playability. I'm guilty of it to an extent as well with the recent lack of zombies. I haven't harassed anyone over it, but it's tough to contain my disappointment all the same. These issues would be easier for me to swallow if we got more detailed and technical stuff from the dev team about what they are specifically working on, but I imagine that would be impossible for many reasons. I can't wait to see how that turns out. I will likely end up getting it for my stepson on the PS4. I'm most interested in seeing the end results of all the optimizations that would absolutely have to take place before the game is even remotely playable on the 8th gen consoles. I have an i5-4690k @ 4.5ghz, 16GB RAM, an SSD, and a GTX 970. I still get a minimum FPS of about 30 after a lot of experimenting and tweaking for quality vs performance. The consoles have custom AMD APUs that are nowhere near up to the task of running something like DayZ SA in its current state. While I'm not heavily invested in how that all turns out, my curiousity is still quite piqued.

    Character Reset

"Your character was unable to be loaded and has been reset. A system administrator has been notified. Please reconnect to continue." I just got this error message in game. Any ideas on what I should do? I spawned on the coast just after this. EDIT: Just uploaded a video to Youtube. Processing now....

    LIES! That never happens. :D
  13. I've been saying this for quite a while now. Console gamers have never seen anything like DayZ. They are going to lose their shit. I can say that with a fair degree of certainty as I was primarily a console gamer up until about a year ago. I am the tiniest of samples, but I do represent the kind of console gamer that would buy into DayZ and I've put in 1000 hours since I bought it sometime around the beginning of the year.

My theory is that this happens when every single tire on the vehicle has been replaced by a restart but I haven't gotten around to testing it out yet so I haven't reported it.

Two screens. Plus, keep the Player tab open. Works best if you lie in wait on a low pop server since then you can KNOW that you are killing hoppers and not just people who happen to be at the NWAF.

Cold's Steps for AKM: Low Recoil Laser Beam Edition 1) Paint AK Rail Handguard black. 2) Attach ATLAS bipod. 3) Lay down in a cozy place with a good sightline on the door of a quonset and a good supply of food and water. 4) Watch Youtube videos while you wait. Or, listen to audiobooks on a subject you are interested in. I've been listening to Nick Offerman's "Paddle Your Own Canoe" and Richard Dawkins' "The God Delusion". 5) Profit from the veritable cornucopia of high grade loot that finds its way into your lap.

POLL: DayZ and BI experience so far

    To whom are you speaking?

POLL: DayZ and BI experience so far

Exactly right. Consistency. That's what a project like this lacks by its very nature. Case in point: I'd be happy as a pig in shit if I could run a 10 player server with 0.55 Stable on it until beta. Obviously, there are many reasons why they could not facilitate multiple build versions out there on joinable servers, but my point is that build provided the baseline experience that I require to be satisfied while they work. At the end of the day, it's my own impatience and the fact that I am emotionally invested in the game's development. Fortunately, I don't feel the need to lash out like many do because I am quite capable of seeing the whole picture. Unfortunately, that doesn't help me play DayZ with zombies right now this very second damn it! :D

POLL: DayZ and BI experience so far

I voted that I am less likely to buy an Early Access game even though I also voted that I am quite impressed with BI's work. I feel the need to explain where I'm coming from. I love DayZ. It's an extremely unique and amazing experience. I tell everyone who is willing to listen that they should check it out. And I've gotten far, far more than my money's worth out of the $30 I spent. I've paid twice as much money for games that I barely played in comparison. That said, it's been an experience that I don't want to go through as a consumer again. I realize that the task of maintaining a playable build and continuing development simultaneously has surely been a monumental undertaking for BI and I give them props for having the balls to do it. However, as Hicks is fond of saying, they have tread into completely unknown territory and, as a consumer, I'm not sure that I really ever want to see this particular patch of grass again. It's flat out demoralizing and exponentially more disappointing when your favorite game has been randomly rendered unplayable due to the state of a build. For example, I think I played less than 5 hours of 0.57 Stable. There just wasn't anything to do but PvP. The current build, while better, lacks one of my favorite components of the game: zombies. I find myself disappointed with a patch, wait 6 weeks for the next one, only to be a bit disappointed again. Allow me to reiterate that I am in no way complaining. I fully understand why things have gone the way they have. It's just a tough thing to deal with as a gamer in love with the game. I'm a pretty picky player and I play only or two games at a time and get heavily invested in them. So when the game I am currently laser focused on is suddenly missing large chunks of what makes me enjoy it, it sucks big time. BI is doing a great job, DayZ is fantastic, and I do not regret my purchase in any way, shape, or form. Sometimes I feel like I should have paid more money for this game. I'm just not going to put myself through this again. The next EA game that catches my eye will not be a purchase for me. I will just wait until the game hits beta or full release. I can't handle being hooked on a product that can change drastically and at the drop of a dime.

    netting?

I've gathered ~20 netting this week, making gun wraps for my friends and I and a Ghillie suit for myself. Hail the mighty dynamic event, bane of the hopper!
  23. I have the same setup. Here's my exact settings: Day.cfg GPU_MaxFramesAhead=3;GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=3; (YourName).DayZProfileviewDistance=1500preferredObjectViewdistance=1300 I have Vsync enabled and use 1080p, 100%. QualityObjects - LowTerrain - NormalShadows - NormalClouds - Normal Rendering Anti-Aliasing - Very HighAlpha to Coverage - All trees + grassEdge Smoothing - FXAA HighHDR Quality - LowAmbient Occlusion - EnabledPost-Process Quality - Very High TexturesVideo Memory - AutoTexture Detail - Very HighTexture Filtering - Very High My minimum framerate is about 35 FPS in cities and the game looks fantastic. I get 45-60 the vast majority of the time and the game plays buttery smooth. Very few fluctuations in FPS. I have two other friends that recently followed my optimization recommendations (one Intel/Nvidia, one Intel/AMD) and both are very pleased with the results.

I get what you mean perfectly and although we tried this, none of us were using the new UI so it didn't work. I should have thought of this though because I had used the new UI to get a tent down from the top of a cabinet. I am a dumbass, yes. Thanks for the tip! :P :beans: :beans: :beans: :beans: :beans: :beans:
