Maybe not a sniper rifle, but a taser? I could see it.

Infected hordes as dynamic events. I didn't pay enough money for this game. I think I will mail Bohemia a check.
-
Peak players =/= total number of active players Based on the numbers I have seen over the years and stuff I've read from devs, the total number of active players can be as much as 100x the number at peak.
-
Too much clutter. Also, this is a repost from the developer discussion section.

INFECTED HORDES AS DYNAMIC EVENTS! That sounds too awesome for words. I cannot wait for 0.59 Experimental. The new vehicles look great.

TIL that DayZ runs much smoother on Windows 10.

That's not what we are talking about at all. He was saying that you can only upgrade your version of Windows 7 or 8 to 10 on one motherboard. Meaning that he couldn't upgrade now and then transfer the OS to a new one later. I'm not sure that he's right about the specifics of all that, but either way no one meant what you thought. -
More KOS'ers in my opinion. I have about 750 hours in DayZ and I have never hung around any coastal city longer than absolutely necessary to get what I need to leave. I spent the vast majority of my time north of NWAF and I still get KOS. I have never met a single friendly player in-game. The only cool people I have met are people I met through these forums. I either: A - See the guy first and avoid him completely. B - Get seen first and dodge bullets. C - Fail at B and die. If there are friendly players out there, I have absolutely no clue where they are or what they are doing.

16 hours in, met my first player!

As I clicked on this thread, I predicted that the OP was going to tell us about how he got shot. I'm just surprised he lived. Intuitively, it feels like this game would inspire cooperation at least some of the time. All noobs to DayZ go through the same process. Get killed X times before you understand that you should avoid all player "interaction" if you value your life. -
I can't help it. Why do you guys have to do this to me?

Is the loot system super messed up? I did a bit of testing.
ColdAtrophy replied to Shiva_O's topic in New Player Discussion
It's not even remotely close to that bad here. Randomly choose nearly any other gaming forum on the internet and it will be much worse. Any Youtube comment section blows the negativity here out of the water. Ever been to any subreddit? -

Not to be inflammatory, but perhaps you should have put a little bit more thought into what it was that you were posting. Outdated information that is also common knowledge isn't really a good way to make a positive first impression. -

Spends most of his time at military loot locations and is mad that he doesn't have the rarest civilian spawn weapon currently available. Lol. -
I just thought I would point out that DayZ SA has not been in development for 3 years. It was released on Early Access 3 months into principal development. It's not as bad as you seem to think, although I can understand why it might feel that way.
-
What if I don't "like" the current state, but I don't think it needs improvement outside of the normal progression of development?
-
\ Objects on High or Normal is likely the primary cause of your currently low minimum frame rate and a new GPU can't help with that. However, you should be able to turn up or on a few other graphical settings that are GPU bound without a loss in frames when you get the new card. OC'ing you CPU may help you too.
-
Yes. This. All of the options please. The only danger is clutter and that's nothing a good UX guy can't handle.
-
Minimum frame rate is heavily bound to the CPU. You don't list your current settings or current GPU, so I can't give you any more specific ideas about what to expect. There is a strong chance that your FPS won't change much at all. Unless you are currently using a GPU that would struggle to run Minecraft. As far as I know, there are specific things one can do to get SLI/Crossfire working in DayZ by following some tutorials for making it work in Arma 2. The only information I could find was from early SA though, so it may be tweaks that used to work no longer do.

I managed to figure it out just now with Eliteness. I can't edit anything but I can view just fine which suits me perfectly.
-
I just learned how to do something very similar to this for a ME3 mod I made. That game uses a .bin config setup too. I'm going to look into this as I'd like to see it for myself.
-
They might have just edited his character file in the hive. EDIT: Just realized that's what the guy above me meant. So I agree with him. Maybe that.
-
That explains it then. Thanks man. That's pretty cool. Can I ask how you can even see that data?
-
Right on. That tracks with what I've read. So even if the duping is what's happening, then the server would have had to spawn an M4 in the first place to dupe from.
-
That's because the server determines the items, not the client, yes?
-
I really hope no one listened to this piece of advice.

Keep in mind too that if you can buy your new mobo before the first year is up, you can still get your upgrade.
