    This is a known bug and it's happening to everyone in 0.58. I also noticed the gas consumption seems to be a bit faster than ever before. Perhaps that is in anticipation of more fuel efficient vehicles incoming.

    I'm pretty sure the devs already shot this down, but who knows? I can't recall where I read that or the specific context of the question, but I'm pretty sure it was on here.
  5. Yeah maybe. I never played those games tbh, but I remember one of the older CoD titles had lobbies that disallowed XBL parties while playing in it. Not sure if they still do that or not. Anyway, BI could easily disallow it for DayZ and provide the experience as they intended.
  6. Exactly this.my buddy and I used to keep most primaries at my camp in 0.55 just so I could run a different kit every few days or as I felt like it. It took about a month to get to that point with how effective server hopping and how limiting lootsplosions were back then, but it was still fun. We also had enough zombies to shoot that no matter what we did, we were always continually depleting resources. Some days we could just wander around the map killing every infected we found. Other days we had to go find specific supplies to restock the camp. Towards the end, we supplied 4 people from our camp and all had free choice of what they wanted to run with. And I agree. Coming home to a relative safe zone where you can relax, heal up if needed, organize stuff, cook, shoot random things (we sometimes just dumped mag after mag into various trees and such), etc. is nice. EDIT: Also, I'm from Cumberland County. :)
  7. I have been thinking about this quite a bit lately, and this is one reason why consoles will provide a "truer" experience. Sure, a person could still use 3rd party comms, but it isn't something that most console players would even think about, let alone act upon. The only way I could see 3rd party comms use being lessened is if A - the major voip services agreed to not let their programs run concurrently with DayZ (unprecedented and simply not happening) or B - the designers come up with a way to make in-game comms attractive or essential enough that not using them becomes a detriment to the experience. B could happen but that would take some real ingenuity and I'm not sure that BI even views this as enough of an issue to devote money and man hours to it.

    Yeah, I see what you mean. My idea has some problems, but it could be worked out. If the camera was much closer to the player model, the contextual angle changes wouldn't be as dramatic either. My point is that the camera hasn't been anywhere near as problematic in other games as it is in this one. Maybe you are right that some situations are impossible to fix. However, there are plenty that could be programmed in the way that I describe, like laying prone on the roof of a building.

    That is a popularly cited solution sure. However, I believe it isn't the only one. The camera needs to be configured for context which involves a massive amount of work to configure the camera to recognize and respond appropriately to every individual situation. For example, the camera could be configured to pull in closer when you try to peek a corner, thereby literally not allowing you to see around corners at all unless you lean. This would require the camera to be programmed to understand the environment and I doubt they will put that much effort into it.

    Yeah, that's not true. There are many ways to fix this, but they involve an astronomical amount of work and bringing the camera in much closer to the player, something that the majority are definitely not going to like. While I agree with the OP that the new camera solves nothing, I don't agree that it wasn't a problem in the first place. Even 3PP vs 3PP was about watching drone footage.

    [Question] Beta Release

    Player stats are being tracked, we just don't have a client connection to the statistics servers yet. The new zombie AI was also done. Now they are just optimizing, something that would probably have waited til beta were it not for a new focus on Stable branch playability. I also see nothing wrong with the dynamic events in their current iteration that would prevent it from being labeled "green" according to your coloring convention. Not trying to be overly critical of you, btw. I just think it bears mentioning for anyone who may not be up to date on current progress.

    Thanks for sharing. I genuinely lol'ed. This game is so...well...it's like....it's just DayZ man. Don't wait 6 months. Get back in there before the zeds come back in force so you won't have to figure out all the new stuff while also having an omnipresent infected threat.

    Server wipe question

    Not soft skills. Player stats are in game but we have no client side connection to the stat tracking servers yet. i.e. - how long we've been alive, murders committed, zombies killed, etc. Soft skills are an entirely different beast and have not been implemented yet.

    Meh. After playing a solid 100 hours of 0.58XXXX on Exp. there really isn't much to look forward to tomorrow. I will probably gear up and then not touch it until .59 hits Stable. There isn't anything in this patch for the PVE oriented player. Dynamic events are working properly and the CLE is working quite well also. Those are major milestones for sure. Those are really the only major ways that 0.58 differs from 0.57 though. Oh, and everyone is going to be royally pissed that handguards are broken atm.
  19. Still not a loss for the person doing the capturing. Add a respawn timer to a death triggered by this mechanism for further discouragement.
  20. If you do that, you die. Simple fix. I'd also like to see the ability to drag in incapacitated friendly into cover or a house to work on them and save their lives. +1

    That game is amazing. Schwabam gifted it to me since he had an extra copy. Very promising. Interstellar Marines went through the same transition. Apparently Unity 5 has some tech that helps facilitate better CPU utilization for more than 2 cores so it was a big deal for most devs to get the chance to offer a solid performance increase through migrating to the new version. On the topic of the OP: This is the first Early Access title I have ever participated in. I have one year of college under my belt majoring in Game Design (not programming). I have played games regularly since I was 5 years old and my dad bought a Genesis and Sonic the Hedgehog. I have owned nearly every major console since 1995 including most handhelds and I have dabbled in PC gaming, switching to primary PC only last year, since around age 8. Even I occasionally find myself feeling a bit impatient with this game and I KNOW THAT IT'S IRRATIONAL. More than most even. I am completely aware of how this dev process works and I see nothing amiss or majorly throwing up red flags. I still have to work hard (and am mostly successful) at keeping my tongue in check. I attribute it to the fact that this game has a massive schism, dividing the playerbase fairly decisively in two. There are those that look at this game as another vehicle for PVP. There are those that look at this game as a zombie apocalypse sim. To my mind, using this game as another MP shooter severely cheapens and undermines what this game is and has the potential to be. Shooters are almost literally a dime a dozen. The genre is so saturated that a person could buy a new one every day for years. Zombie apocalypse sims are few and most are knock offs of DayZ. This is the game that all of us who watched Dawn of the Dead and thought "yeah that sucks, but that would be kinda fun too" have been waiting years and years to play. Every time I see ANOTHER Youtube video that Hicks puts in the Status Reports showcasing what is not only arguably the weakest aspect of this game technologically speaking, but also the least important aspect of the game as far as progress within the industry, I have to prevent myself from raging a little. Every time I see another post about PVP in Elektro, Cherno, Berezino...every time I get KoS'ed without a weapon in hand, posing no threat to the attacker whatsoever...every time I see things that accentuate and proliferate the thing that I like the least about this game, I mentally throw up in my mouth a little bit. (For the record: with zero threat from other players, this game would suffer dramatically and I fully acknowledge that.) So bringing this whole thought process full circle, every time the devs do something that, whether by design or simply by circumstance, makes it easier or caters more to PVP only gameplay, I struggle to keep myself from feeling let down and must go through a process wherein I remind myself that "this is alpha" and so on. For example, the current stable build: nothing to be found for people who want a zombie apocalypse sim. Same thing with 0.58. I'm already anxious for 0.59 simply because there is a slight chance zombies will come back. I still don't feel like I made my point well. This is almost too complex a topic to talk about it in text. This is almost worth a Google Hangout among many of us to really have a deep conversation over.

    Plus this game is being ported to consoles. I've only been primarily on PC for about a year now, so I think I can say this with a measure of certainty: consoles gamers, particularly the hardcore shooter fans, are gonna lose their shit when this game hits their respective platforms. Nothing like this has ever been available to them before.

    Bad Performance with reasonably high end system

    Minimum FPS seems to be largely dependent on your CPU's single core performance. Your CPU is the culprit. Also, you are further stressing your CPU by having everything set to Low. Run Rivatuner OSD while you play the game and change settings while watching your usage numbers. I found that my system can run most everything maxed except for Objects while getting the same or better minimum FPS as I did with everything set to Low or Off. EDIT: The AMD FX CPU users who are getting 25-30 FPS in cities have edited their config files, guaranteed.
  25. What exactly is it that you think animators could be doing but aren't due to this? Do you have some inside track to the scheduling at Bohemia or something?
