Those wolf models aren't final, right?
-
A lot of people say it does, but I notice literally zero difference.
-
Count me in! ;) I guess they are pushing this build to Stable today.

10 minutes after the smoke grenade went off, only two out of 5 of us could see this: This guy had a smoke grenade in his hands and had lit it. The smoke grenade continued to emit smoke long after it had expired and only stopped when the player seen here relogged.

I killed a guy that shot Biohaze with a Magnum at the Zelenogorsk barracks. Biohaze lived too. So KoS guys - 0, Us - 4

So this is my picture. Notice the two pumpkins. And this one is Biohaze's, taken at the same time. He isn't seeing the same thing that I am. I had to pick up the pumpkins and then drop them for them to show up on his client.

I'm ColdAtrophy and I approve this message.

What happens to tents in a "persistence reset"
ColdAtrophy replied to ryandr's topic in New Player Discussion
I hope that clears it up. Boosh. -
Thank you. I'm gonna meet up with Biohaze soon and try to trigger it as well. This can't get to stable like this. Although I obviously don't have any say in the matter, I'd imagine that Hicks and crew wouldn't want this to go unnoticed.

Is anyone still seeing desync of items between different clients? I'd imagine that to be a solid blocker. To be clear, I mean one person sees item X on the ground, the next guy doesn't see anything.
-
Alright, so I don't know about you guys but last night (latest build) and the night before (previous build) all of us experienced a different kind of desync. Example 1: Putting tires back on a sedan we got unstuck. Some of us saw 3 tires on the car. Some of us saw 4. We had to place the tires on the ground while we unstuck the sedan and copies of them still appeared on the ground for all of us on the group even after they were attached to the sedan. Example 2: Growing pumpkins. I didn't have a knife on me. So I collected the crops as they were ready and gave them to Biohaze so he could chop them up. Two pumpkins did not appear for him until I picked them up and dropped them again. Items are not showing up in the same places for everyone playing.

@Pandema DayZ currently handles cities poorly. I don't think it will be the way come beta, let alone release. Can you tell me what about Namalsk intrigued you the most? When you think of that map, what does it bring to mind first? I keep seeing that from people over and over about Namalsk and Lingor. Not complaining, I am just new to BI games. I own this and Arma 3 which I played for about 2-3 weeks before I got bored and uninstalled. Not saying it was bad or anything, I really only got it to get a taste of the Arma community. Tried Epoch and Exile, quite a few missions, tons of mods, and beat the campaign. It was a lot of fun, but I think AAA has me a little bit sick of strictly military games tbh.

@TheSneakyDude Sorry, but I just have to ask - why did you have 4 guns that all use .357 ammo? Good find regardless, I'm just curious about how that happened.
-
K. Still gonna shoot them. In the head whenever possible.

Desperate for bullets to the head.

-newui -world=ChernarusPlus -nosplash -nopause There may be more that still work but these are the only ones I can confirm. You'd be better served lowering SceneComplexity, ShadowZDistance, ObjectViewDistance, and PreferredObjectViewDistance if you are after FPS though. You might also try the DayZ Config Tweak Tool if editing your ini is something you don't want to do. https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/228617-release-dayz-config-tweak-tool/

I could be wrong, but I remember hearing some talk that barrels had a set number per server and would not continually respawn. That might have been specifically about a particular build though so, keep digging until you get some confirmation.

They may have changed it. I saw a car tent and a civ tent in the first Quonset hut I visited at Myshkino in 0.59, but haven't seen one since. Maybe rare, maybe removed. Not too sure.

I had often wondered about the possibility of adding a stance on one of the F keys that lets your character smoke if you have cigarettes in your inventory. Sort of a way of indicating that you are on a smoke break to your buddies. I switched to vaping which the lady doesn't mind me doing inside so I kinda forgot about it. Still would be cool though.

It's possible, but that makes the cost of running a server exceptionally, prohibitively high. People are not going to want to pay for or rent multiple machines to run one server. Also, you probably technically could build another machine to run some of what the client does, but once more of the rendering processes are offloaded to the GPU, what difference is there between that and SLI/Crossfire? Factor in DX12 utilization with the new renderer which has been promised for some time after beta (DX11 first), hopefully before full release. There won't be a point. Also, not to sound like a broken record, but the new renderer should help a lot with performance for the previously mentioned reasons. You are talking about throwing a massive amount of hardware and computing power at something that is already not utilizing the hardware we have effectively or efficiently. <--Not a judgement, just a fact. Even if you somehow built up a mod that could use all that extra hardware, very few, if any, other people would even be willing to try to run it. At best, someone might make a youtube video about how crazy you are.

It's fine man. It's still on topic for modding at least. What I've had a problem with was the recurring gun debate and people trying to vent general frustrations with development or use this as an avenue for attacking the devs. Nothing you've said falls into those categories.

Tbh, I'm not sure, but we do know that SQL is being replaced by Enscript and that is supposed to be able to be processed much faster than SQL. Time will tell. It's definitely an exciting time to be involved in this project!

I've got an i5-4690k @ 4.5ghz and a GTX 970. At max settings, 1080p, 100% resolution scale I get 27 FPS minimum. With a few cfg tweaks and dropping object quality (which I won't have to do with when occlusion culling gets worked out), I can bump that up to 40. The new renderer will change quite a lot, as well the multi-threading optimizations that Eugen talked about at the beginning of this year. For the record, SLI Titan X's wouldn't move your minimum FPS by not one frame. Right now, we are limited by server simulation rate and CPU single core performance.

It's very hard to say. In both instances (UMP and VSS), it was dark and I didn't see where they came from exactly. I can say with some certainty that when I noticed the UMP aggro, at least one of them was within 25 meters or so. With the VSS instance I was talking about, I didn't aggro them initially, or at least I don't think I did. They may have been aggroed to the area by unsuppressed shots and then visually saw me.

We can't make sweeping statements on this yet. One of the features of the new renderer is supposed to be proper occlusion culling which should substantially improve the FPS in cities issue.
