I never said the A3 engine was not superior to the A2 engine. I said that neither engine meets the needs of DayZ. It may seem like they will based on what we have seen of the game so far, but I don't think you will feel the same way come beta. You will likely look back on this discussion and realize that you weren't seeing the whole picture. -
If they don't get zombies right in vanilla, I promise someone will with modding. Also, I have a random idea for a mod: change all the AI to dinosaurs. I'm gonna call it Chernarassic Park. What do you guys think?

Yeah, I was alone at the time, but my buddy got kicked by Battleye with the same stated reason of "client not responding" right before this. Some of the group I play with think its the camp causing it, but neither myself nor the friend I mentioned who got kicked before me were anywhere near the camp when it happened. Still, every day the lag gets worse. Today I teleported randomly around in a 100 meter area near the camp for about 3 minutes. I stopped trying to fight it and just let it run its course. We talked about the possibility of wiping persistence on the server this evening. All of us are getting randomly kicked now and the lag spikes are making it nearly impossible to keep a truck moving for long before you wreck into something.

Okay, I get where this thread is coming from now that I've watched this: http://www.twitch.tv/astrogaming/v/13427056?t=5h01m18s Zombies alone have never been enough of a threat in DayZ SA for there to be a streamer who focuses on that gameplay element. Hell, I've seen gameplay videos where people are getting punched by zombies and ignoring them completely while their gear is getting wrecked just to shoot some other guy. With no Twitch streamer to vouch for us, I am 90% sure that no one is aware we exist. After all, the best part of this game is PvP right? I mean, with everything I read and hear from Hicks, it sounds like he genuinely believes this game is for fighting among players. I know he doesn't personally KoS everyone he sees, but he is apparently close personal friends with people who have no interest in doing anything other than shooting anything that moves. I bet they reflexively shoot cows. If we're lucky, we might get enough infected to possibly cause the occasional hiccup, but there is no way that the game can be balanced for constant PvP combat and a challenge from the infected. You can't have high powered full auto rifles with ammo everywhere for the deathmatchers AND have infected pose any real threat without doing something obnoxious like making them respawn non-stop for an hour or be unstoppable tanks that soak up bullets to the point of hilarity. DayZ devs need to decide what the fuck this game actually is and stick to it. I have a feeling that a majority of the players out there would never notice or care if zombies never came back. That's a problem for a game that is marketed as a zombie apocalypse scenario. -

I really want a 3D printer. I can't wait until they become affordable for someone like myself. I would never order replacement parts for anything not metal again! Also, I had an idea for using a 3D printer and an Arduino to make a Claptrap. -

Fair enough. I figured that might be the case. I can usually catch it because it will hang at "Please Wait..." This time it gave me a spawn clock so I thought all was well. EDIT: I just tried another server. Character has been wiped. :(

I didn't change servers whatsoever. I've been on the same server for days now. Thanks for the suggestion though. I wish it was that simple.

With Persistence in, what currently can we build in Camps?

Fireplaces. Tents. Backpacks. Barrels. Ammo Boxes. Protector Cases. Those are the only things that are currently persistent. I do believe that SMoss posted this morning that duct tape and lime is sticking around for an extended period of time too, but I'm not sure how long. https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/227520-status-report-29-jul-2015/ This links you to the Status Report where Hicks talks about what is persistent and for how long. There really isn't much you can build right now. -

I don't how much more clear to make this. If you leave Stary Sobor and head Northeast, you will hit Severograd. There is nothing wrong with your compass in this instance. You should have gone Northwest from Stary Sobor to get to NWAF. I didn't misread anything. I quoted your words exactly.

Use Rivatuner OSD to display hardware utilization in game. Putting everything on low is a bad idea for any system but even worse for that one. You need to find a good balance load wise between your CPU and GPU. Also, I can't believe Intel HD on-die GPU is even capable of 15 FPS.

Well, Hicks specifically stated several times now that the Arma 3 engine would have imposed the same engine limitations as the Arma 2 engine. Also, as he also stated, the new renderer was not hard to write or work intensive. The hard part is extracting all of the old renderer from the simulation and "everywhere it touches the game" as Hicks put it. They would have had to do exactly the same thing with the A3 engine. So I don't get what you are saying. -

The Arma 3 Engine still would've had to be rewritten in whole chunks for the SA, just like the Arma 2 engine. All of the other things you mentioned are a symptom of alpha or are arguments from personal incredulity due to your own lack of faith in the dev team's ability to deliver on what they have projected. You can tell me you know that this is an alpha all day long if you like, but your statements clearly demonstrate that you do not understand the process. You have absolutely no idea what Enfusion can deliver. Why? Because you've barely seen any of it. -
"went back to starry and went north east hoping i was going to NWAF and ended up in Severograd." Uh. Severograd is Northeast of Stary Sobor.... "I left Starry yesterday Going West and ended up in the undeveloped part of the map" The debug plain, as they call it, IS where you would end up if went West for awhile from Stary Sobor. I'm confused here.

Run Rivatuner while you play with the OSD set to display your CPU and GPU's usage. I also set mine to show Temp, Frequency, Power Consumption, FPS, Frametime and a few other things, but you don't have to. As you make changes to your settings, you can see definitive data on exactly what is changing for your hardware.
