    I just died on an empty server. I was the only player. I've been binging a bit on a 1PP server that. at this time of day, has left me with a playspace all to myself. All I did was walk into the train depot building just South of Vavilovo.

    Not sure if someone has mentioned it, but the OP should really consider reading the status reports. They are the ultimate source of information regarding development progress.

    Should I purchase DayZ: Standalone?

    Tense and jittery? It can be. Is it a survival sim? Not yet, no. The framework is there. Do your research and make an informed purchase. This is an alpha first and foremost. Please be sure you understand what that means before you buy.

    So V3S #2 just belched fire and the battery and headlights are ruined. When I removed it from the spawn location, it had 2 front single tires and 1 back double tire. When I parked it, the truck slid about 2 meters into a tree. Not hard, but just enough for the tree to act as a parking brake of sorts. When we found the last double tire, we went back to the truck, put the tire on, and tried to move the truck. Nothing was working at all. The V3S absolutely refused to budge even an inch in either direction. Biohaze hopped out and cut down the tree that the truck had slid into initially and against the which the front bumper was now resting. That didn't help either. I'll be honest; I don't remember every last workaround we tried and the order in which we tried them. All I can say is that we tried just about every combination of tires on and off the vehicle to get it move even a tiny amount. Then, in a last ditch effort, I tried Gews suggestion of using an Ashwood Bow to unstick a stuck vehicle. After firing about 4 or 5 arrows into the truck, it started to shake violently and make the normal "taking damage" pinging metal sounds. RIP truck #2.

    We are already on V3S #2. Biohaze put a tire on the first truck using old UI. I put the other 3 on using new UI. He only saw 3 tires on the truck. The double tire he put on was invisible to him after we left the area and came back. As I tried to pull out of the parking spot at the industrial area on the Northeast side of Vybor, the truck inexplicably flipped over completely. When we tried to recover the tires from the truck to fix up another V3S, Biohaze used a lug wrench on the wheel hub since I could not remove the tire from the truck's inventory even with new UI. Even though he couldn't see the tire, it gave him the scroll wheel option to remove the wheel. The tire then disappeared for good.

    You guys have a point there. Fair enough. I just noticed that he said there was possibility of some new content in this update including Christmas stuff and "surprises".

    Call me crazy or a fanboy if you like, but I kinda like the fact that they don't spell things out for us as far as specific content per patch. I find it much more enjoyable to discover the changes through exploration and community interaction.

    I am not an expert on this, so maybe someone else can shed some light on what I'm about to describe. From what I understand, there is a big difference between "dynamic" objects or objects that we might place in the world and objects that are "baked in" to the map. Again, I only have a rudimentary understanding of this, but from what I gather, objects that are a static part of the map have certain calculations stored as a part of map data and so adding in things that are not a part of that map data requires the game to perform more calculations in real time. I can't help but agree here. I wish we were privy to a lot more information. I can see reasons why they might withhold some information in the interest of guarding against hacking, but once they release server files a lot of that goes out the window anyway.

    No. I greeted him and Igor by punching them in the face, bare fisted just continuing a joke (which, I might add, you 3 started with your boxing shenanigans). They both got knocked out in one punch. I totally didn't mean to do that. I gave Igor an Epi and Tatanko got up on his own. Then I started running away down the street because I wasn't sure how they were going to feel about all that mess. :P

    I haven't been able to pin it down yet either but I certainly hope they made it work the way you describe. People shouldn't be able to meta-game that way like they used to with fresh loot on server restarts, imo.

    Hey, what happened to land mines? Did someone decide the troll factor for landmine plus new buggy vehicles is too high? Also, this just occurred to me: dog companions + landmines. Will we be able to train our dogs to sniff out particular items, such as booby traps like these?

    Maybe they tried and couldn't for technical reasons. Say for just a moment that without the new advances in tech that the new renderer brings, building anything more than a few small walls causes your FPS to tank. Would that be something that anyone would welcome? Also, I specifically remember Hicks saying that without the new UI, crafting was simply not going to work. He said that it didn't make sense for them to get it working in the old UI (which, btw, is more than just a new skin on your screen as there is tech behind it) when they needed those resources to go towards getting it running in the new UI. You can argue that crafting and basebuilding are different but I'd be willing to bet that they'd be handled by the same processes.

    Seriously - and I mean this with every fiber of my being - whoever designed the audio for the SVD deserves the largest raise that Bohemia can afford without being forced into bankruptcy. I got an SVD and then went over to Myshkino, which was covered in zombies. As I drew down on the first of many zeds, I pulled the trigger, expecting the same old AKM-ish sound and instead had my eardrums treated to one of the most satisfying and amazing sounds that I've ever heard a gun create in a video game. All I can say is this: Well fucking done. :thumbsup:
