Hello people of DayZ! I just thought I'd make a quick guide to help new players to the DayZ mod start out. I am a new player too and these tips help me stay alive a tiny bit longer, so they might be helpful to you. If you have any tips of your own feel free to add them down in the reply section. Essential Items There are a few things in DayZ that you need to find ASAP in order to survive. Here are some of them. Food - Food is one of the most important things in DayZ, without food, you're not going to last long at all. Food is easy to find, just go into the nearby town and search a few houses. It's always a good idea to store some for later.Water - Just like food, water is essential within the game. Without it you'll get thirsty and then eventually die. Weapons - Now, myself and many others favourite aspect of the game is PvP. As much as I am not a bandit, I still love to get in gunfights. I recommend you try to find a gun at the airfields or other places that spawn military loot, as you can defend yourself and hold people up for THEIR loot. Nightvision Goggles - Okay, now this isn't really ESSENTIAL, but it will help you to find your way around. Nightvision goggles are as the name suggest, goggles that help you see in the dark. Cool, right? Not only cool, but can also give you the upper hand at night time against players that don't have these and have no idea where you're coming from. If you don't have these goggles, I suggest you find a house, close the doors and hope for the best. With these items you'll be one step closer to surviving another night in DayZ! Tips Okay, in DayZ there are a few things you need to be aware of and can help you a lot. First thing's first. Spawning - Okay, spawning. It's a tuffie. Some servers allow you to pick your spawn points, that's great. Others, however, may not. When you spawn at the east coast, you need to find the essential equipment (^^^) and get out of there. There is an airfield near Balota and Berezino is a good place to find food and water. Once you've got everything you need, get out of there. It's a hotspot for newspawn killers and lots of other players. Third Person - Okay, third person is really helpful during those close-combat-where-the-hell-have-they-gone situations. You know when one minute you're shooting at someone and the next they're behind a wall and beginning to flank you. With third person, it allows you to look around corners and over walls and gives you a better idea of what's ahead of you. Crouch - In DayZ you can "aggro" zombies which makes them run after you and give your position away to other players. These zombies chase you for miles and before you know it they're on top of you and you're unconscious and bleeding. When you crouch, you make less noise and therefore it makes it harder for the zombies (and players) to hear you. Bluff - Okay, this may just be from personal experience, but I've found it so so useful. Say you've found a gun in the barracks with no ammo. How are other people supposed to know that? In several situations I've came up behind someone, told them to drop their gear and turn away from it with my empty gun pointed at their head. Now, if they had decided to go "hell no!", turn around and shoot me, I'd have been dead. So just be careful and only use it when you're sure you have the upper hand on someone. Bandits - Bandits. There's a lot of them. Bandits are those guys that see you and decide to kill you on sight for your gear. They sit in the woods of Cherno or Elektro with their snipers, just waiting for someone like you to walk right into their crosshairs. Other time they may just be going along the coast, looking for newspawns to kill. Whatever they're doing, just know they're gonna kill you. To be expanded. Please bare in mind I've been playing the game just over two days and I have definitely missed some stuff in this. I plan to revise it soon and add some stuff in. Hello people of DayZ. I've become tired of running around the 120 km map of Chernarus on my own and looking for a group to play with. I am only a casual gamer and by no means necessary brilliant at this game. I come on it for fun and i'm just looking for homies to play with. I feel that I've familiarised myself with the game and how it works, so I'm not really a total noob. I am not a bandit and don't KOS, I do give people a chance to be friendly and actually enjoy interaction with other players. I can talk on Teamspeak if needs be and I like Epoch/Overpoch the most, however I'm open to play the normal mod aswell. So if anyone else like me is bored of playing themselves on Chernarus or simply just wants to play with a guy like me, reply to this thread and I'll see you in game. Peace.

Hello thank you for helping me When I try to go onto my favourite server it says " you are running an incorrect version of days please reinstall dayz" Will me having replaced the files affect the update or will it still allow me to play???

I just got Dayz Mod two days ago can anyone explain how to download this update Edit I have deleted all of the addons, the bikey and the mod.cpp and replaced them with the ones I downloaded
