i don't think we will hear anything about audio till beta will occur. it is more than obvious that the sound-developer/sound-guy is working on DayZ only for a few days or some weeks in a year. He gets hired when he is needed, does his work, pushes it and leaves again. Why? Because most likely he is in a position, where he can do nothing more anymore due to restrictions caused by old modules etc. When all other modules are switched, i expect to see the results of the new audio module including him being hired again. Just think about the information how DayZ-Development went so far through Chris Torchia's presentation some months ago: Sound guy gets hired to do some little work till it is done and he can leave again (meanwhile working for his own company or for other company etc.). Else there is no other rational explanation avabile why we have seen so "much" from him over a year: his activity on this forum last year does increase my suspision. It is logical it would be waste of money for having sit him in his room for 340 days (let's assume he worked about 25 days in 2015 for DayZ) in a year and doing nothing while get paid. So he gets only hired whenever he is needed btw. the development for him can continue.

i have only one question regarding the current state of renderer (Post Processes): - do you already have some progress/improvement regarding the 'light (f.e. from flashlight) going through walls'-issue (which is avaible since the release of the alpha)? Thank you very much, Hicks! Have a nice week! :)

Dear Brian, does the dev. team have a function/tool for creating random interiour fittings of buidings? If yes/no, have you considered to create/use/implement it after DayZ will be released as fullgame (after beta state etc)? An example what i mean: Skyrim random dungeon-design, but used for the architecture/static&non-static objects in houses Explanation: Logically Chernaurus + has the same house xx times.. most of them you can find in every city with the exact same interiour fittings/architecture. The tv or couch or radio or bed are always staiying in the same place. The spawns of item inside can be called 'random' (ignoring the fact you had put points where the objects could spawn). Anyway, imagine the incredible feature if most of the houses would be kinda very individual. F.e. green house: Instead every green house having the same static and non-static objects, let a random-place-object be placed randomly. Sure, something like this could be maybe planned for DayZ beyond 1.0 state (after full release). But maybe your team has already kinda a similar tool/function. Thank you very much, sir

May i ask does it mean completelly not interested or just "yeah, most of the loot will spawn like how it is now/or will be envisioned. However, sometimes you can still find some loot in generic containers (f.e. a pipsi in the refrigerator (i have always to think about nuka cola refrigerator)) Thanks for the great status report and your time replying to some comments here etc. Have a nice day, Mr. Hicks! :)

i understand your concerns and your point. Well, the one big bug with the zeds led to a way lower server performance as intended, which caused a bigger desync of everything, especially of the players. The zeds are still there, they just don't spawn. The server performance got way better (compared to .55 or .56 to current builds), which made the game also feel less clunky or feeling the desync way less. But yes, it is still there. This is why it is also a priority. They want to fix the desync for players first and then concentrate on another tasks. How to do it? By increasing further the server performance via changing every module of the game and optimizing or bugfixing some issues. But you are right, we did not hear much regarding the zeds in the past weeks. The last statement (don't remember where.. probably twitter from Eugen or DayZ-dev or Hicks) regarding them was that the one ai bug, causing a way lower server performance, is still not fixed. I am pretty sure the devs are not lazy and it is just really hard to fix it. Or they found an another way how to fix it, but it would require some specific pre-changes of something else before. We have to wait and see. So right now, i would say expect some information regarding them in a month. Hicks will talk nearly 45 mins at RTX (15 mins Q&A), so he will surely get some questions regarding the zeds. Let's see and wait. Also i'm pretty sure when they have reached some smaller goals (mentioned in my previous post or the status report from the past three weeks), there will be surely a big update regarding them. On reddit i read Hicks idea or goal for zeds amount at the end of EA is about: 100 players to 3000 zeds.

regarding the zeds: time after time ... instead of providing half-fixes, they rather focus on some specific points right now: fixing Ghost bug, improving CLE to the state how they envision it,fixing the persistence issues, changing the player module, which would provide many fixes, and working on the desync of players (right now one of the biggest issues right now). When most of these are done, they can move on and concentrate on integrating new features and probably fixing the zeds. Remember, the reason for removing the respawning of zeds, was the big desync of players. As long as players are more important than zeds, it is less priority trying to fix the desync of zeds.

great status report again. These have been improved by factor 100000. Anyway, i would like to question one thing, which was asked on reddit, but was not seen: Are you going to release a second quarterly status report (next week)? I don't want to sound spoiled, but from the logical aspect a second, third and fourth quarterly report will be expected to be published.
-
Because the current audio module needs to be changed to fix an issue like this... did you even read the status report of this week? FFS chodeofwar
-
Hicks wrote on reddit that .58 exp. will be released early next week as long as none major issues will happen.
-
thanks for the status report!! :) @SMoss @Hicks_206 @PeterNespesny

Thank you very much for reading and even replying to my previous comment. True, this could be an issue. But i would not see it as something completely bad - it will give you and your team even more humanity with sympathy. People still tend to forget that humans are working, not perfect maschines. Luckily some from the community are not forgetting this fact. Anyway, if i ever meet you in Chernaurus or in reallife, you will get so many beans and drinks as possible! :) We, the community, appreciate it very much for your time (it's weekend and you use your free time to reply here or on twitter etc.) and from your team's (Eugen and other developers)

Eugen gave some infos regarding the renderer yesterday on Twitter! Right now the new renderer produces a black screen. Speaking of Status Report, Peter Nespesny gave some thoughts regarding the future Hermit Playstyle in DayZ: Sa. This is what the status report would have needed as information. Here is the thread: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/225481-hermit-playstyle-enchancement/

Dear Hicks_206, i appreciate your work, time and effort put into DayZ:Standalone (the development, the testing, the ruling, being on events, the replies here or on twitter etc.). Your point of view regarding the status reports is understandable. Don't be sad or angry because people are unhappy or not understanding everything. But may i write one suggestion, which would probably silent most of the critics with some justice: - Write a few words or at least two sentences about the issues you have found out or experienced while trying to implement/change/add/rework feature or system X. Could you fix the issue? Did a new issue come because of the fix? It is interesting for the readers and the dayz-community. Something like this could come from you or someone from the "Art", "Animation", "Audio" (if Andrej is not working on other projects), "Design" or "System"-team. I totally understand that Status reports or week reports are something free. You don't have to create these, nor do you owe them anyone. But they are a big great way for seeing how the development goes for anyone outside your workplace. Please, read this comment and give a thought regarding this.

Please, stop building villages everywhere

I highly doubt it. The devs have said a few times that they don't plan on creating a new map. Not now, nor in the future (after the 1.0 release). They want that the community does it with the mod-support. -
http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/36zeil/about_the_status_reports/crir7u0 this comment is one of the best to describe the current situation with DayZ's development. I am agreeing to the parts, which i have not deleted here.

I can't wait for DayZ: Avengers Mode, broo! YEES.

Well, Andrej probably turned into a zed because of so much work left to do. Look at his profile on this forum when he was the last time active.

if you don't know True Detective, watch it. You will not regret it.

i guess because arma II or arma III does not have infecteds... and no, sorry i don't remember the anti-material rifles etc stuff.. i have only started to play DayZ 3 years ago... and at the time i was really not interested what was happening with mods etc.. i just wanted to play the vanilla mod. Anyway, i think mentioning ARMA II is useless. This game is old.. Arma III has already all the things from ARMA III, so it would be quite stupid to recommend anyone to get ARMA II - even from the mod-aspect. But it is just my vopinion though. If you disagree with me, it is fine. Also don't worry, in vanilla-dayz:s there will be not really the issue you are talking about. I would say when the developers have opened the mod-support incl. mod-tools for DayZ:S, there will be surely some mod for these people, which tend to play DayZ with more military-weapons and vehicles... like in a modern BF. i would probably try it too. All i hope is that vanilla-dayZ:s will be great as we wish and that a BattleRoyale-mod or mode will be released for it. If only creating own games would be so easy...
-
you forget that DayZ is a game where the player decide how he/she wants to play it... if there are players, which want to play it more like a dm or teamdm on a very big map, then let them... there are no rules, which are against it. you can still play the game how you want and you won't be disturbed (in most times) by others. I want to get a similar mode like BattleRoyale or Squad-BattleRoyale in DayZ:SA, which would lead maybe to some esports... is it a bad gameplay-style? surely not. So what is the deal with it as long as there are still many servers with the normal mode. As long as everyone gets fun by playing his/her own favorite gamestyle, everything is fine.

Great to hear it. Thank you eugenharton!
