  1. But them most important thing to remember is that this game is still in alpha. Zeds have been largely downscaled recently to help the developers single out some of the performance issues so that the new engine modules can be better optimized for performance. Any conclusions that you draw from the current state and distribution of the infected is not a reasonable source from which to form your opinions. Might I humbly suggest you bring your attention to the Suggestions section? You have some good ideas, make sure they are heard by the right people.

    Best Vests

Personally, it's all about capacity. Hi-cap is a good goal until SMERSH vest and attached pack are located. Don't forget to grab that Beret o' Poodle for your noodle.

    Bigger Forests please?

You want forests, and the big city PVP lifestyle that Elektro offers? There's always plenty of forest north of Sinistok, and plenty of people a few clicks to the south. Perhaps someone should eat that cake for you; if you won't have it.
  4. Alas, it seems it is you who has the dookie fixation. lol. Still waiting for waterborne illnesses to cause frequent crouching stops and the ruination of ones trousers...

    Playing DayZ without sound

    I play on a black-and-white CRT with built-in monaural.

    Where is everyone?

    Get to tha choppas.
  7. The inability to distinguish between a blank piece of paper, and a written note, is pretty immersion-breaking. Maybe if the item was called "folded paper," then your argument would hold water, but those tire tracks are clearly of differing lengths.

    My first kill

If you ever played Black Ops Zombies, you can get some pretty good adrenaline boosts too; but it is NOTHING like what DayZ gives. My first kill was on the hill between Myshkino and Pushtoshka. Slow logging in behind a friend. He came upon three heavily armed guys, killed two and got popped by the last. He directed me down to the bodies, where I gut-shot the looting survivor with a repeater as I duck-walked around a tree. He didn't even see it coming until it was too late. Even with my first kill practically handed to me on a silver platter, I don't think my breathing got back to normal until I was past Drozhino carrying my friends gear back to the coast. Ask your doctor about DayZ PVP. If you need to lose weight, and are averse to doing actual cardio, just go to Elektro and let the paranoia work for you.

    Optimization...?

Can we please just merge and pin all of these optimization/performance threads already? I know it feels good to help people out by doling out counterintuitive setting tweak advice, but it seems a new thread pops up everytime the current OPTI-PLZ thread falls off of page one. I think I'm gonna pop in the -newui LP and see how it goes today. Cheers to getting rained off the job on a Friday.
  10. But what about the people who double-carry for a friend? Why would you have me throw away a perfectly good gun, just for the privelage of walking through your town? I'd recommend stating what you are wearing in the note, and asking them to please be respectful of the town rules. Maybe also ask what they are wearing too; and if they are still up. :P The last time I left a notw was in Zelenogorsk, behind the piano house by the military complex. I found a Black drybag full of good stuff, and a short MP-133. I took everything, and put it in a tent, then I went back and left a note in a different bag, stating what I had done, and the exact location of the tent. I was so excited to see if the help-yourself note, next to an extra pen and paper that I had left in the tent was of any use to anyone. Unfortunately, I did all of this early in the morning on the first day of the .55 stable update... No notes for me until persistence is back.

    What time is it ?

I have a terrible time navigating on experimental with the x'd time. Inaccurate Chronoception makes for poor daytime navigational accuracy. Grrrrrrrrrr

    2nd Character Slot

It would be nice to see the public hives a bit more segmented, with various bundled groupings of hives. But this is basically the same as private hives are now, only with perhaps 20 to 50 servers sharing a public hive segment. The issue with separating up the public hive would be that certain regions would have much more opportunity to play different public characters, than would people in areas with fewer overall servers. My baseline suggestion would be to just get good at running, surviving, and re-gearing. Unless you friend always hangs out at Tisy, I don't think you'd be very put-out by a nice run here and there.

    Just a question?

Trust me, KOS players will KOS. They don't care if you look like a farmer, or a medic, or even just the village idiot. For all they know, you could have a sawn-off shotty, magnum, and longhorn in your blue child briefcase; and you get your kicks from tricking people into letting their guard down and ruining all their gear. I kinda see majority of the population on DayZ SA as sort of a closed-loop human centipede of all the players who got a taste of the copper-jacketed poison once too often, and signed up to pump it down another poor bastard's gullet; no sutures required. All the newbies and survivalists are just running around in the middle of the circle, trying to stay out of the Scheißesturm as long as they can. The conscience of most players wanes with every dozen or so hours, it seems.

    A few questions

Good deal. I apparently was not aware of the hotfix until this afternoon. I'll go check on my barrel tomorrow and see how it fares. It's hidden in the westmost tree at the west Khelm camp, on the north side of the fenceline, between the Lodge and first of the tree northern cabins, if you care to check Southwest 0-2. Got both red dots and a bit of other stuff in it. Take a penny, leave a penny.

    A few questions

No worries, just trying to help. And perhaps gently hinting that a good browsing of the forums will answer your questions in full, except for the manpower allocations. Perhaps reading the investor statements would shed some light on your last two questions, but I wouldn't know anything about that, as I don't really have an interest in their staffing practices. edit: just looked it up for you, and it appears that BI is a private company, so if you need any further information of staff allocations, perhaps contacting a staff member might be the way to figure out how many people are working on what projects, but I wouldn't hold my breath for an answer.

    A few questions

Well here's the latest news on what has been included in the game: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/226553-status-report-30-jun-2015/ There is plenty more good info to be found in the Official Forums, under Developer Discussion and Status reports. I assume that since you asked your question in a text format, that you wouldn't mind finding the answers already provided as such. My hint is to read the Experimental patch discussion for the real-time experience on what is newest in the game, and how it is working. Edit: AFAIK, the resource allocation of BI staff is not really of any concern to the consumers, as buying and using their software is not compulsory. It might not be what you meant, but I got the impression that you feel like they are misappropriating tax monies or something. Or at least that's what your asking of those questions implied.

    A few questions

This reads like lock-bait. What you gettin' at? Go fool around with the .58 experimantal update if you are bored with .57 already. Just know that trucks spawn disabled, and their batteries aren't yet spawning. You'll have plenty of time to run around and see what they've been doing with all that money; improving the game at a very reasonable pace.

    Helicrashes in .57

I'll bet that those who found them just logged out to keep them safe. Proof that CLE is working, or maybe not working? I did notice that after I stopped seeing 101 mags and other "leet loot" at the helicrashes, I quickly became very bored of camping the treeline with a Model 70, big jug of water, and a flaregun. For my playstyle, we need more chopper-hoppers; I find it to be the most morally justifiable means of target practice.

DayZ REALLY needs to add basebuilding or barracading

I pared it down to just the most relevant bits. After six or so months playing SA, and another six months before that waiting for it to get to a state where I felt buying it was worth the time, I am fairly certain that now is the best time to have started playing. The new engine modules are being installed, though not without the expected hiccups, and the game is starting to flesh out into the beast it shall become. I've grown confident in the wisdom of the developers to not put the cart before the horse. And as you explained, future server wipes would just be a major source of basebuilder flamebait. I hope we DON'T see basebuilding in the near future, as there are still plenty of more important things to lay down and hammer out before basebuilding will be worth putting any serious in-game effort towards. As far as my current wants for this game go: how about putting truck batteries in at least the next town over from a truck spawn? It's been too long since I've died in a traffic mishap, and my pristine boots are just begging for a good scuffing.

Most frustrating way you have died?

Would those happen to have been while you were picking up a shoulderable item, or switching between shoulderable items? Same thing happened to me on .55 stable at the southwest guard tower at VMB; under the aforementioned circumstances. Edit: and nobody was online to come strip my body. QQ
  22. I trust that you have at least submitted a bug report?
  23. emuthreat

Most frustrating way you have died?

I bet you pressed "F" twice and made yourself slide down the ladder from too high.
  24. emuthreat

Most frustrating way you have died?

That time I drove through a creek to hide my truck, just as I had done in that same place a dozen times before, and the truck did a barrel roll, causing instant death. A very close second is the chopping axe versus fists, three hits each, toe-to-toe; and the guy with fists knocks me out. After my first swing, his fists really shouldn't have been very functional.
  25. emuthreat

batteries batteries. Where art thou batteries?

Haven't seen any. Doesn't mean they aren't out there. Also, I haven't traveled the whole map, but I have looted much of the eastern to central area of the map.
