    New distant lightsource mechanics?

False! The correct wording would be that you haven't yet seen a butane gas canister on .58 experimental. The northern corridor is lousy with them. Hell, I even killed three zombies at the summer camp NW of Svergino.

    I've got a question.

True, a friend wanted a fast trip to the coast and asked me to test the durability of his helmet. It's on youtube somewhere. Only one shot from a CR75, on the top of the helmet, and he was on his way to the beach. It was a ballistic helmet we tested, but the gorka helmet is just as ineffective, and has the please shoot here bump on top.
  3. Looking forward to persistence working again. I plan on leaving lots of cryptic notes on my purposely obvious barrel stashes, to see if anyone wants to follow the breadcrumbs. Gotta take advantage of these 45 day timers on barrels and tents before they screw it way down to 7 days. How am I supposed to maintain a supply network, aaaannnnndddd play the game, if I gotta be goin and touchin everything every week just to keep it from disappearing. I really hope this decay process gets some more fine tuning; I'm already afraid that I have begrudgingly accepted that I can't stash a dozen mountain backpacks in a strategically dense clump of trees and come back two weeks later to find it all intact. I miss .54.
  4. Your bag specifications returned no results, highlighted in a block, of course, bacause alpha. The beer is more than adequate, as it has fallen off of my local shelves lately. Had to replace with more locally sourced, FreshSqueezed IPA. But now I am interested in this bag, how optimized is it?

    Let's talk bout them Chainsaws

I'm not sure how that would work, but a chainwhip on a pipe would be fun.

    Let's talk bout them Chainsaws

Only turn on the chainsaw right before using it, it's hella easy to do by just tapping "F."

    Let's talk bout them Chainsaws

A water bottle works just fine, as long as you don't get it mixed up with your actual water-bottle. When it first came back, the chainsaw was my go-to pickup, as it would still put down the zeds quickly enough without fuel. Now if only we could remove the chain and tape it onto the end of a lead pipe for a nice chainflail...
  8. Don't bother, I got too bored and double clicked, then right clicked and selected "search google." Lo and behold, it worked. No typing in search bars necessary. Edit: For more of my leet life hakz, plz send a half-gallon of beer to my face, care of, my face. Preferably IPA, thanks.

Anyone else excited for persistence and barrels?

I find it funny how so many people decry the hoarder playstyle. Those posts where people make a point to mention that they left behind the gear that they couldn't use; it's like they haven't considered the usefulness of items beyond their own immediate needs. I'm more than willing to share with anyone, and I mean anyone, who will not kill me for long enough to lead them to a stash or exchange contact info for precise instructions to the location of their desired gear. I refuse to play .57 stable anymore, and it's tough to get enough play time between a wipe on experimental. So here I sit in limbo, waiting to fall back into my role as supply depo chief.

Anyone else excited for persistence and barrels?

I fondly remember when I first started playing back in .51. Pre-CLE persistence was working just fine. .54 was the best I'd seen it, aside from the lootsplosions. I was a happy-hoarding fiend. I made it my point to set up various impressive stashes by lootrunning back to the same place each time after I died, then stashing, grabbing a full bag, and heading off to establish another stash; from which I would promptly head off with nothing but the clothes on my back--and maybe a vest, depending on the destination. For some reason, strangers really like it when you offer to take them to a place full of guns and food and clothing; it was my own little way of pushing back against the prevailing PVP/KOS playstyle. After all, there will be plenty of time to kill you later, if they find out you are lying. Mostly they are just too busy looking through all the bags for the few things they were wanting. Once persistence works properly again, and I find an Official server that will remain somewhat stable; what I know, will again be more valuable than what I have on my person at the time.

    Nature mans ban hammer

Hey, I was just having some fun with it. I can see that you still are not. Why am I still not outside weeding my tomatoes and peppers yet? I blame you. Now you must help me design hammocks for my burgeoning melons; so that they don't grow up with flat, pale spots. Deal?

    zombie targeting system.

I think the zombies should come in waves, and occasionally drop "Max Ammo," and other fun kinds of stuff. There should also be different soft drinks that make you faster or tougher, or make it so you can reload faster. Or maybe I'll just wait for Black Ops 3 instead. (Have I posted this before, or is it just getting so bad that I now have dreams about stupid DayZ forum posts? I got some seroius déjà vu right after writing that.) Edit: Upon reviewing my comment, I decided that it was a bit heavy on snarky hyperbole. The problem with making such a predictable zombie tracking pattern is that we will end up being able to control the mob much like it is done in the infamous "Nazi Zombies" I mentioned earlier. I don't portend to know how AI and sensors are designed to work, but I like the idea of each zed having a mind of its own; even if it means sometimes kneeling in a puddle of tears because the zeds the got to the buck, despite your hunting partners' best efforts to draw their attention away from that fresh, juicy, meatball with legs and fur.

    Nature mans ban hammer

I don't mean to be crumudgeonly here, but if you are going to attack someone for not punctuating their admonishment of another's lack of punctuation, you should make ceratin that any statements made to that effect are perfectly puncuated; it's the least you can do. I sure do hope this is helpful, because I am now roasting in my hot house, in the late afternoon. I should be outside, weeding my garden; because nature does not wait on account of our human whims. Whether we like it, or not, nature takes its course. My nature is to correct things that are less than optimal. This grammar-bomb has bugged me so much, that my vegetables now suffer; I hope you are proud of yourselves. If anyone isn't picking up what I'm laying down on the constructive side of this post, perhaps we should consider the environmental effects on horticulture. I think that is just what DayZ gardening mechanics need: Weed that shit or your garden will get a crappy yield!!! edit: My puncuation corrections were not perfect on the first try; how embarrassing! ROFL
  14. I'm honestly a little surprised that anyone still tries to help on these posts. While we are at it, does anyone feel like re-writing today's top news stories from google in this thread? I feel like it is the only place that I can really understand what I am reading. I would do it myself, but I think it is just easier for everybody if someone else googles it for me, and puts it right here in fromt of my fayce. PLZ?

    [Devs] I Feel Really Jipped

Put useless tower in game. Leave it for months before making enterable. Neglect to allow for upper floor access. Profit
  16. Your only mistake was not staying in the server long enough to get killed and lose all of that guys gear. You have an implicit moral obligation to stay in the server whenever you hear gunshots, until you are shot dead or kill the other guy. In fact, even if you don't hear gunshots, but suspect that another player is within 5 kM, it is your solem duty to remain online until you cross paths and one of you ends up dead; even if it takes all night. Just remember, whenever you are not in a server, you are singlehandedly breaking the game for everybody else. How can you be so callous as to not leave your toon online 24/7, AFK if need-be, so that one of the many KOS players can get a slight chub from putting you down? You sir, disgust me.

    Black Element Software

That looks pretty fair by US standards, given that the figures are weekly salaries. Strange topic.

    Dead or alive?

I had a similar experience a few weeks back while camping a crane at the Berezino docks. I heard footsteps like somebody logged in, looked over the machinery console in the main platform room, and won a close range battle with the sawn-off. a few minutes later, I hear the clanging of someone's feet on a ladder, so I pull out my axe. Must have hit his arms a couple times, but he managed to knock me out; I suspect it was the guy I had just killed, getting a lucky spawn. A buddy in the adjacent tower dropped him quite promptly, and another guy came up and tried to patch me up. I hadn't lost any blood, and he spent a good fifteen minutes doing everything but blood-bagging to revive me, even force-feeding me half of my pack, and went to retrieve an epi-pen I spotted earlier. Nothing worked, so I'm pretty sure unconsciousness is borked for now; on experimental, at least.

What do you think of this situation

Very true. I once got executed while foolishly drinking at the well south of Krasnostav Airfield, after having picked up a hitchhiker and given him food. I told him I was on the way to pick up a friend, who was looting on a different server at the time, and would be happy to help out any way I could. He was hiding a longhorn, and apparently wasn't interested in trading it for my decked 101. He apparently did not understand that if he had just asked, I would have given him anything he wanted, including the truck. I had two more of everything he took back at my camp. I got all distracted by the warm-and-fuzzies I get from helping someone out; I should have known he was up to no good wearing that motorcycle helmet. I sure wish more people would poilitely declare their intent to rob you, and see if you would just fork it over; especially on updates where persistence works for weeks.

    The new crosshair...

Are you speaking of using a dry-erase marker to manually overlaly a crosshair on the screen? I actually did that once to speed up my quickscope skills while grinding through a sniper mission on MW2 on the highest difficulty; took me weeks to wash off the cheater stench. Would never dream of doing it on multiplayer games, unless I had suffered some brain trauma. Crosshairs are for causals, but anyone can diagonal trace thier monitor and make a dead-center dot. Maybe laser sights will eventually help out with hipfire fanatics.
  21. I think the many available wikis are more than enough. Once I got the controls down, the game went pretty intuitively; aside from all of the incomplete mechanics and things with no use yet. Once the full release is ready, people can either learn by doing, or read up on the wikis. Personally, I am the only one I know who actually reads the manuals for games, and all of my friends would reliably give me shit about it when they caught me educating myself like some cheating fanboy. A simple keybinding map for quick reference would be useful for the first 100 hours. I really like the idea of having crafting manuals in-game, like some kind of Poor Man's James Bond, or a mountain-man survival guide; perhaps a few different categories of books with balanced rarity would add some much-needed depth to the game world.

    Bikes Confirmed = New Goal

Haven't ridden a bicycle in years; I'm too busy systematically dismantling them into more easily digestible portions. I also like to go and swim with an 80 lb terrier tethered to my torso. Lately the real action is when I snorkel in rivers with muh hunny; she finds them crawfish, and I snatch 'em up into a mesh bag for safekeeping before the pot. I also enjoy fishing naked, on occasion; barbed trebel hooks all the way, like a REAL MAN. Live dangerously, live rugged, live with the humility to step back and laugh at yourself when necessary. Lookin at you, Bio.. That is what this thread is about now, right? Being all ruggedder than thou, and all the fixins.

    Respect the Game

Sewing kits will infect your wounds. When I first started playing on .51, I exclusively used sewing kits to patch myself up; until about the tenth time, when I got an infection. It just seemed more badass than tying a rag around the wound. And honestly, a rag is only a viable fix for extremities, unless you have a good roll of duct tape to hold it on. Would like to eventually see the game get to the point where applying alcohol or disinfectant to a sewing kit can craft the item "sterile sewing kit;" just make sure to keep it in a first aid kit if you plan on swimming or wading in dirty water. IRL, I routinely use dirt, yarrow, or napkins and duct tape to patch myself up; as I am failry reckless in my bush maneuvers while hiking and fishing. Luckily, I'm not very prone to infection, though this may be due to a fair amount of exposure therapy--another feature that will hopefully be added to the game.

    Best Vests

Maybe once I figure out how to dye stuff good, and persistence is fixed. For the time, I'll continue pretending that the leather vest doesn't exist. It almost makes me physically ill looking at my guy wearing one of those; like if somebody spotted it and shot me, they'd be doing me a favor.
  25. Preaching to the choir here, Basher. I've mad all sorts of analogies like your remodel example. It seemed to me that OP was asking for some things that cfould not be logically supported.
