    Hypothermia Issues?

I second the cans plan, it works well. I got sudden hypothermia on experimental a few days back, right after leaving a house that I had a fire in the fireplace. It did not warm me up, but it did dry my clothes very slowly. My hypothermia procedure: build a fire, strip off everything but your axe, rifle, and boots; go cut some firewood and put two in the fireplace, remove the sticks; empty pants and wring out, then pop a can of food into the fire, and as Basher said, immediately take it out and put it in your pants; repeat this procedure with all other clothing, and sit by the fire until warm and dry. It really shouldn't take more than five minutes, so if it doesn't seem to be working, then you have a buggy cold. Also don't use indoor fireplaces for warming, as they do not seem to be effective.

Call me a fan boy if you will, but I'm pumped!

I'm gonna stay up through maintenance by playing organ trail. then when it's over, I'll either be tired and disappointed, or the first person to die at NWAF.

    what a game this is

Wow, what a cool thread. OP sadist with way too much confidence in the assumptions of what other people feel while playing. When I play on full persistence, I leave all my valuables in a shrubbery. That way I have moar room for new treshurz. When my screen goes black, I get to run back to my camp from a random location, a-looting all the way. The only thing that the death screen tells me, is that I didn't miss out on any interesting interactions with quality players. Maybe you just don't have that many hours yet, because those bad feelings all fade away after a good few hundred hours and a couple dozen deaths; leaving you with the embarrassing kink of killing newbies to get your Sade-0n. Global Chat Debate. Green Mountain, and radio's.

They should also add a fully operational bus, like with all the doors working and stuff.

    Gun Range

Perhaps basebuilding will make this possible in some way. I won't be very satisfied with the finished product if there is not a way to collect and corral zombies, and conrtol their release somehow.

    DayZ Canadian Soldier Uniform

So you never have to say friendly. People will just assume it because you look Canadian. Also, I hear that every jacket comes with a baggy of UHT milk for your chunchin crisps.

Don't poke the bear. You will live to regret it. I assume that you have not read the posting rules and forum use guidelines, because they do encourage the use of the search function. In your case, a brief skimming of the first page of general discussion topics would have solved your problem; and it would have been faster than it took you to make this pointless thread, and would not have wasted other people's time responding to you, or clicking on this post to see if it actually contained any useful information--which it doesn't. Your title wasn't even in the form of a question; so I clicked on it thinking I might find some useful new info. Instead, I found you asking the other forum members to save you the trouble of scrolling your mouse wheel down. It only took me three flicks to find the extant useful RTX topic. So if you ask why I care, it is because you have wasted my time, that I have chosen to waste even more of it letting you know that you have wasted my time. I hope we can still be friends, if you can recognize your error. I might humbly recommend that you take an honest examination of what I have just explained to you here, and if you think anything I have told you is untrue, keep bashing the main moderator and see where it gets you. But please do it through PMs, so as not to clutter up the general discussion with a redundant and outwardly worthless post.

Why is the amount I can look up limited?

Yes, hi. I cannot look up. The camera won't pan that hi. Haha.

    Difference between standalone and mod?

Thanks for saving me the explanation between end of alpha and full release.

Why is the amount I can look up limited?

I think we were talking about the vertical camera pan restrictions, not the actual field of view.

Why is the amount I can look up limited?

I noticed this the other day when I was trying to navigate by the stars. Now I have to stand out in the middle of a field to find my bearings; not cool. :emptycan:

CLE stands for Central Loot Economly. If you haven't even done the assigned reading for the past three months, perhaps you should reserve your judgements until you can make them from a more well-informed perspective. Things are getting done, just maybe not in the order that many people want to see. But those people aren't doing the work, so my sympathy falls flat. Zombies are in the game, just not in great numbers, and definitely not respawning. If you go and explore, you would occasionally get scared by a couple because of your guard having been let down due to zed scarcity. Trust me, it's a real treat getting surprised inside a building; even more so if you fire a gun.

That feeling when... When some brazen dope thinks that logging right next to the burnt-out chassis is safe, just because it's a night server; thank you hunting scope.

    Survey: Worst part of DayZ?

I'm not sure how well the 7 day decay timer on tents and barrels, and the 3 day timer on bags, is going to agree with your weekly challenges concept.

    Survey: Worst part of DayZ?

Firstly, the people. The VAST majority of players are just here for PVP lols and grief, maybe that will change, or the finished game will no longer be as easily exploitable to that ends. Second, and just barely, is the lack of world richness. I know that "this is DayZ, this is your story," but I would really love to see more lore written into the game, in the form of journals and military/engineering intel. The addition of unicorn items such as anti-material rifles, that would require you to complete multiple difficult steps to access would be great. Set us up some real treasure hunts; make it a viable playstyle to go around opening up mail boxes and looking for intel that could lead you to a very valuable reward if you can piece together the puzzle. I want to go into a mechanics' shop and rifle through their invoices and key lockers, and go hunt down the customer's house, then kill every zombie in the area to see which one has the keys to the garage; just to earn the privelage of driving one of the finer automobiles in the game. I want to look through the manager's desk in a grocery store, and find his address, so I can go loot all of the canned food that the greedy bastard hoarded up when SHTF. I want to kill a police zombie and steal his keys and ID badge, then go to the local PD and try to find his personell file so I can go find his house and loot out his reloading locker in the locked basement. Oh yeah, and what about those radio stations that made me want to buy this game in the first place? I know that most of this stuff is fluff that could probably just be modded into the gaem later, but whay shouldn't we expect a full and rich world to begin with?

    Don't say friendly!

So I was checking out NWAF on experimental for the first time in weeks. Somehow, I lost my 1911 in the towers between tents and the NW hangars/barracks, I went back to look for it at the towers, and saw two guys coming through the open entrance. I didn't have a gun in my hands, and my survival instincts kicked in. I said: "It's cool, It's cool, I'm just passing through." They said "Okay dude," and we went our separate ways. Best interaction I've had in a long time. Never did find my gun, and two of my three CR75 mags that I left in a bag in a tree were missing. Now I wonder if I should have stopped and aksed them a few questions; from opposite sides of the concrete wall, of course.

    Don't say friendly!

I'm gonna try to start screaming "Reasonable, Reasonable!" Or maybe "Pizza, pizza." I've been really busy lately, like only 25 hours in the past two weeks; and most of my old running mates have stopped playing. I play with a couple dudes I met back on .57 exp, when everybody was picking apples and starving in ten minutes, but all they want to do is Bere/Elektro PVP, and I get bored of that fast. Honestly, dude told me if we weren't both starving to death, and I had apples on stick, he'd have killed me just like any other stranger. I actually more enjoy those encounters where we meet an part ways peacefully; like back in early .57 stable when I ran into another solo guy at ZG military coumpound, and told him that we could both walk away, even though I had a Sawn-off shotty in hand and raised when he came around the corner. That being said, if anybody wants to group up with a reasonable and trustworthy roamer/hoarder with good navigational skills, I'll be trying to log some good hours these next few weeks. Steam name is same as here, no caps. I don't have my own TS server, but can use that as well as Skype; Steamchat also seems to be less crappy of late, as well.

Are the hunting scopes gone since last wednesday?

  21. I assumed that Rick was responding to Klesh. I figured that someone asking questions, to which the answers can be found in this very thread, was just being a bit lazy. I mean he quoted text in which the roadmap was laid out in quarters 1,2,3,4, and all were for 2015. It does not take a Biochemist (modern replacement for the old rocket scientist trope) to figure out that the quarters were referring to blocks of three months of a calendar year, beginning with Jan-Mar. If you read my post on page two of this thread, you should have been able to assume that I am well-content with the roadmap and progress, as I at least understand the basics of their development process. This is in large part due to my having read through many old threads I found using the search function; many of them were more than six pages, and full of good links to other large threads. All the quarters were titled 1 thru 4, with the year 2015 attached. I feel it is safe to say that they are using the standard calendar quarter for their roadmap; especially since they only published it at the beginning of this year, and called it the 2015 development roadmap. I really hope this does not remain a point of contention, or even question. GWHIZZ
  22. I think he wants others to do the reading for him, as well as the reading between the lines.
  23. I think they are progressing pretty well with respect to the roadmap. I remember Hicks mentioning that it is like a roadtrip itenerary, where there may be diversions and dallyances along the way, but the destination remains clear. One more important thing to remember is that this roadmap is THEIR internal roadmap, and does not reflect what we should expect to see functional in stable. They could have most of the roadmap fleshed-out internally, but need certain modules to be installed before the new features will mesh into the game. Kinda like when building a house, the plumbing and wiring are in there for weeks, waiting to have the fixtures installed, because the drywall and floors need to be finished first. For all we know, the interior doors are behind shcedule getting hung because somebody framed in a wall on the bathroom before the oversized tub could be delivered, and now they have to tear out the wall to get the tub inside. I'm very confident that they know what they are doing, but it might take a bit longer than planned, because it has never been done before. Could anyone here tell me exactly how long it would take to plan, engineer, and successfully deploy a permanent automated observation station on Vesta? Yup. No fuckin' clue. DayZ is a much simpler project by comparison, but the appropriate amount of slack must be given to this development process. Once they decided to modify/rebuild the engine while it is running, all bets are off. The only certainty is that the project will be completed to the specifications published by BI. After all, they have already collected millions of dollars for the promise of a badass finished product with all those bells and whistles; their hands are kinda tied at this point, and they are more than capable of delivering.
  24. I really hope they eventually ease up on the cleanup timers. I'd expect backpacks to stay a couple weeks, and tents a couple months; let someone find them if they are left unattended, they'll lose or discard some of the loot and it'll get cleaned up eventually. But really, I can't wait to have enough time to get a truck working again.
