These are all good questions. So good in fact that they have raised a few more just in my trying to understand what your questions meant. Will lower population servers run better because more infected are asleep, or will they tend to just gravitate more towards the active network bubbles and possibly make PVE difficulty inversely proportional to player population? Can infected be herded to one area of the map, and then players ghost out of the area to safely loot or PVP in the areas no longer lousy with zombies?

I was going to use one of those useless rifles earlier this week, but then I got dead. Apparently it looks enough like a gun to get you killed, but won't work enough like a gun to save you. Back on topic, I haven't been having much luck with sawn-offs lately. Even using it to keep freshly made bambis from running back to their gear is not as effective. I miss the days when a guy behind the door with a shotgun actually had some degree of certainty that the sniper would not get immediately overrun. Hopefully we see shotguns returned to their former glory. With shottys being loud as fuck, cumbersome to reload, having somewhat rare ammo, and being slow to reload, it seemed like they were balanced out just fine a few months ago.

Stairs make some people tired after a couple of flights, that's why we have elevators. Airplanes mess with some people's sinus pressure so severely that they must travel by train or by boat. Some people don't like all of the noise and constant light in cities, good thing there are still rural areas. I'm actually leaning against making ALL official servers 1pp now, because it would be unfair to the minority of people with individual concerns or medical issues that make 1pp an absolute no-go for them. I am still in favor of making the vast majority of official servers 1pp, if that is the desired basic experience being sought by the developers. I'm thinking it would work out similarly to how newly constructed college classroom buildings are designed to strongly encourage the use of stairs, but still provide ramps and elevators for those who prefer, or need to use them. Apologies in advance if my use, or choice of analogies has offended anyone.

Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)

Well yeah, of course they leave a little wiggle room and try to avoid making solid promises. You have seen all the flaming "WTF, why is it taking so long" posts, yes? -
No worries dude, I was being a bit hyperbolic about the hopper put downs. Everybody does it from time to time, but it's usually not so openly discussed. ;)

Just like the title says, there should be some option to craft a ghillie suit out of other materials besides just burlap and netting. There are plenty of rubbish piles laying around in the built up areas, and it seems like it would be pretty easy IRL, to become one with the rubbish. We get paper from ammo boxes and books, and empty cans are supposed to be a thing. Don't see any issue with the suit making noise from rustling paper and clanging cans; Makes me wonder why ghillies don't sound all "swishy." I wanna be a trashy man, blastin' all the noobs from my trash can.

It could be no more than a year, based on the level of building cleanliness. Without human presence, any unattended house would show signs of rodent infestation within a few months, regardless of temperate or tropical climate. We would see furniture shredded and soiled if SHTF any more than 6 months prior to our arrival 'on the beach.'

And there I was, trying carefully to avoid the MGS reference...

We are playing on the 3pp servers with other people, because social gaming is way more fun than running around alone, albeit fully immersed in the character. Just yesterday, in fact, I exploited 3pp from the top of Elektro firehouse to safely take out a guy in the building across the street. And after getting creatively and hilariously admonished by Pilgrim and B4gel for having the audacity to come on these forums and attempt to make a factual argument with supporting evidence, I seem to have lost some of my hardcore-ness. I didn't immediately feel like a cheater for having killed the guy, but rather felt good for having accomplished a textbook DayZ rekking.

I think the idea of making the official servers 1pp was to make that the most likely first experience for any new players who might buy the game after the actual final release. The existing 1pp will need some fixes for sure. People would be right to flame the hell out of this game if the default view precluded players from being able to see out of most windows in a somewhat normal fashion.

Couldn't you have used the capital D in your name?

You should go find my older posts on the subject, there's some real great stuff. You could link to them in your next bit of cryptic wasteland poetry. I suggested rendering the 3pp camera as a floating orange orb, as well as adding a 2pp, which would basically work like a text-based MUD. LOL Also, ***booey ***booey. Happy now?

They sure have been decoupling for quite some time now. Fingers crossed that they have done enough internal testing to rule-out the possibility of it breaking the game in a very serious way, once it is pushed to stable.

I think what you are looking for is colloquially referred to as 'lowpop'. Don't worry, offline mode is coming along sometime in the future. Also, google "homophones," they're there, and I can't not notice their making my reading experience less than optimal. Sorry to "waist" your time with the grammar tips...

As far as loot running goes: Why don't you make a few stashes, so each new life won't have to be a boring, cookie-cutter loot run. Also, try not to come on here asking for help with loot, while also advertising that you are one of those belly-crawling, greedy coward, server-hoppers who is actively ruining the game for everybody else, just so you can have the honor of dying with nothing but the best gear on you. The most fun I've ever had PVPing was with a repeater. You are now free to go commiserate with Rodney Dangerfield.

Don't encourage him. Judging by the content of some of Dick's recent posts, he might be inclined to take your word for it.

I would just chalk it up to an upset stomach.

all you have to do to find barrels, is to look everywhere; it isn't that hard really. Half of the time, I even find them already placed outside of sheds for me to find.

Iv'e always been of the understanding that these goals were internal benchmarks for development, and since we only have access to the elements that they feel confident in pushing to experimental, and then to stable, there is no definite way for us to really see how many of these benchmarks have been met. Maybe it is time for a status report to touch on where the internal progress lies, in relation to this published road map.

I thought mountains actually kinda worked as culling barriers already... Anywho, I've only been playing since the start of 2015, but I know better than to expect the first implementation of the new renderer to include anything that can be construed as OPTIMIZATION; yes, it will be a good start, but we've got a snowball's chance of seeing it show up for the first time in any sort of tuned state. Hopefully it won't be as rough as the new UI, which has been optionally available for months, and is still, in my opinion, unusable.

Yup, you don't even have to try to attract the trolls now. some folks spend more time hating on the game than enjoying it. If you wanna get in on some fun, whatever your style might be, add me on steam. (exactly as spelled for this forum name)

In the Famines of .58 Experimental, I met and befriended some folks while picking apples who said that if food weren't so scarce, they would have killed me instead of picking apples and talking. But that was a severe example of survival, as starvation happened way too quickly; it would have been more economical to keep people alive as hostages farming apples. I think a lot of things are gong to change with the implementation of the new zombies. Hopefully gunshot report physics will make the zombies a slow, but ominous, threat for those who stake out an area for PvP. Brutal zombies will do a lot to steer people towards cooperation, and possibly make radios an important piece of equipment to maintain.

I've been getting more concerned lately with the developers interests gravitating towards actively facilitating PvP in DayZ, as if it need help in some way. I've been grinding through these past few months with no zeds trying to hone my shooting and survival skills, in hopes that once the game is feature complete, I will be able to go about whatever random mission I choose, confident in my ability to survive Armed Assaults from other survivors. I am really hoping for some serious easter eggs, and mission type elements added into Chernarus. For instance, the massive railway system would be a great task for people to come together and accomplish clearing the rails and getting all the switches operational. The power lines leading From Elektro to all the major cities (assuming the lines go underground from Berezino to Svetlojarsk) would be a great large scale endgame task for a group to maintain; requiring substations and transformers to be activated in each individual town and city to bring the lights back on, at least just the streetlights. There is so much space in Chrenarus, and so much infrastructure items modeled into the map, that it would seem like an enormous Chekov's Gun to not make any of those features useful down the line. I am specifically lookin forward to seeing all of the radio towers being repairable/upgraded to facilitate longer range radio communications. (maybe scale the radio frequencies back to five or so). I would be sorely disappointed, if after all this time and effort, the development team could not find a way to facilitate a playstyle of an on-call tow truck company, who works for peaches and shotshells.
