  1. Lol, don't hit the stanchions. Just drive around the areas with that shit. I'll go off road with a bus to avoid those things, and here you are in a Lada? Iss okay, I ruin more vehicle than anyone. I shot a flipped sedan with 15 sharpened sticks, and they appeared to have no effect until I replaced a wheel; at which point it popped and wiggled, belched fire, and shimmied up a tree a couple feet. Thinking of leaving a trap vehicle with one tire put in the trunk. Apply lots of damage that won't register until some poor sap comes and interacts with the thing; thinking that it was somehow their own fault. That bus had such immersion...

Cool story bro; I guess one would have to had been there. Are you sure this isn't the kind of thing that goes here, instead? Welcome to the community.

    My v3s won't move

Please add note, and upvote the existing bug report relevant to this issue. I started my ticket on the 28th of December, and it still has not even been assigned yet.

    TRANSPORT FROM NWAF TO CHERNO

I have protocols that will ensure my safety, or the death of the fare; as well as maintain custody of the vehicle. Of course there are no absolutes, but precautions can be taken. For you, though, I would require a cash bond to be posted to ensure your compliance with the terms of the agreement. :P

Yes. Items, particularly persistent items relating to vehicles, have a sharp effect on localized performance. Try parking four vehicles right next to each other, and then attempt to speed past them all in a Lada. The results will be terrifying. Add a couple dozen wheels to the area, and compare.

    TRANSPORT FROM NWAF TO CHERNO

I might be willing to give you an escort to the coast. And if you prove trustworthy and reliable in securing the usage of new vehicles, I would then be willing to give you occasional rides places. Can't really get behind giving a man a fish... My steam name is same as forum name.

Are most of your settings high or better? If so, then it is just the quirks of .59, and you'll have to wait like everybody else for moar framez. I've learned to tolerate using exclusively newUI. It's kinda like ultra-hardcore mode, relying only on the text ticker to know your condition. If you remember that your can store five times more calories than water in your body, and keep eating every tuna/sardines you find, as well as drinking plenty of sodas and water, you will be fit for anything. I feel the current broken status levels are a good offset to being able to loot vertical columns, and switch vehicle parts without tools.

Have you tried turning the settings UP? What are your peak CPU and GPU temps while running DayZ? It's also notable that the first couple of experimental iterations of .59 brought a doubling of my framerate while using the newUI. But after several builds, the framerate seems to have taken a hit; I am back to getting around 30 frames looking horizontally, and 60 when looking at my feet. I do have Vsync enabled.

    How can we fix Hunting

-snip I wonder how often an ATF agent sits down and googles "shotgun shell landmine?" I'm also not sure if FDNR sanctions any sort of explosive traps for the taking of mammals. DayZ isn't real, but your online security certainly is. Might not be the best stuff to be publishing on a googleable resource. I'm sure you wouldn't like the kind of attention that would bring. Just a tip for personal security reasons. ;)
  10. I would love to see a game mode focus on containment of the outbreak, crowd-control, and evacuation of VIPs. Perhaps instead of having to get a helicopter running and stocked with supplies, the survivor team should have the goal of extracting VIP NPCs. This means having to get the helicopter running, set up a safety perimeter, organize rescue missions, ferry back survivors, keep them safe and out of trouble, all while defending the helicopter and survivors from the infected. I'll link to my previous post on this subject. Thanks for the beans. I also like Biohaze's suggestion of spawning survivors inland, and having it be a race to the coast to evacuate. edit: State of Decay did many things right, regarding gameplay elements. Lifeline and Breakdown both seem like good things to try and replicate with DayZ. If they had a multiplayer mode in SoD, there is a good chance that I would not have tried DayZ yet.

    Super silent kill.

The double-closed door issue seems to stem from a reset server issuing random door states. I've been playing a few times when the server reset, and doors that I had just used a few minutes ago were then reset to double-closed status. Often this will appear the same for two players. Sometimes it doesn't. Cold Atrophy hopped out of a sedan to open a gate for me the other day. In my perception, the gate was already open. It ruined the two front wheels.
  12. I swear to God it was no accident, no crash, no mistake or glitch, nothing. I was just driving up that road to the left, in the first gear. And I was doing my best to continue just that. :D Apparently, there is a small black hole in Nagornoe. Yeah, I know it's alpha, I'm just pointing out that you recommended shooting cars with a bow. ;) I understand many people who don't have this kind of patience. Some people who play DayZ SA in alpha don't have the patience to deal with broken mechanics? I haven't tried using the in-game maps with the new UI. I think you might just be part of the crowd that plays the game as if it weren't in alpha. I keep driving vehicles because they are broken, not despite their brokenness. I am very close to understanding the random spin-outs and flipping behaviors well-enough to submit a cogent bug report on the matter. Last night, we "wore out" a Lada; we could still drive, and use the gears, but it had no purchase. Eventually it was unable to accelerate beyond 8 or 10 kmph. It seemed to resemble a clutch failing to fully engage. Eventually, even I was convinced that the vehicle must be destroyed. That is an entirely new behavior, and I never would have discovered it if I had given up on using vehicles because it was inconvenient. Edit: I should mention that I am nearly burnt out on submitting bug reports for the time being. I have done quite a few of them with video documentation the past few weeks, and many of them still have the new status. I might just go back to playing the game like other people soon. Putting a lot of work into chasing bugs so we can have working vehicles faster feels kinda stupid when apparently nobody is even looking at the bug reports.

    Questions About The Game

Occasionally I find military clothing, AK magazines, or ammo boxes. Also, always a good place to check for plate-carrier pouches.

    Questions About The Game

The Northern forest base has one of the new double row bunk barracks, and those usually do better than the single hall barracks with showers. I still occasionally find interesting things at the Pavlovo base.
  15. Cars get hoovered up quickly by the people in-the-know. I've destroyed/lost at least a half-dozen vehicles on stable, and always go looking for a new one right away. My preference is to have a couple buses well-hidden for special occasions, a sedans for cruisers, two or three Ladas spread about for helicopter hunting or taxi missions, and a couple of workhorse V3Ss for hauling jobs. Interesting side-note that I discovered with Cold Atrophy, while trying to set up a few tire warehouses: If you don't put your tires in tents, having too many in the same place will do terrible things to the server. Our network of tire stockpiles is nearly complete. If anyone has a server in mind that we should test this on, we would be interested to see how many tires in the same place it would require to crash a server or client. Between the two of us, we have used up dozens of tires this patch; as well as flipped, stuck, run-dry, and all other manner of rendering vehicles inoperable, and then recovered a fair amount them. I killed myself the other day, just so I could get to the coast quickly without having to worry about keeping a vehicle running the whole trip to the coast and back. There are still lots of problems with the vehicles. Random vehicle tips: Use the new UI--it makes things so much easier. You can sometimes repair pristine tires to maximize your traction. If all tires are fully pristine condition, and your rig still drives like shit, rotate the tires. If you flip over, or get stuck on a rock wall, you can use an improvised bow to jostle the car back into a driveable postion; make sure to remove all the wheels and doors first, and replace and remove one wheel between each shot--the impact often will not register until you interact with the vehicle; so shooting a bunch of arrows at the car, only to see it go up in flames and right itself upon replacing the first tire, is not the recommended course of action. Manual transmission guide: Lots of people have been calling the trucks and bus worthless. They are flat wrong. Those vehicles are just more difficult to learn how to drive. I will provide a recommended amount of time to accelerate through each gear on flat pavement, formatted in ascending order, as follows: Car name--time spent in each gear, in seconds (1st, 2nd, 3dr, 4th) Sedan--(1.5,2,2,X) Offroad--(1,1,1.5,X) Bus--(2.5,2,5,X) V3S--(1.5,1.5,6,X) The rule of thumb for each vehicle is to generally get into fourth gear, and stay there for as long as possible, even while decelerating for turns. The exceptions are on hills, as you will slide if you top out the gear you are in, and failed to downshift at the proper time. Some slopes and surfaces simply cannot be navigated, and you must learn the individual capabilities of each vehicle. The Offroad has practically useless first and second gears on pavement, but you will mostly need only the second gear for navigating steep, wooded terrain. The sedan becomes unstable at high speeds, and cannot maintain traction on surfaces that are mottled grassy/dirt-rocks combination fields. The bus appears to only have one drive wheel, and will quickly lose momentum on undulating uneven surfaces. Momentum is everything; I take the bus through flat-ish fields and woods to avoid slowing down for corners or roadblocks. The V3S has ridiculously short first and second gears, given the noises the engine makes. Try to shift between 1500 and 2000 RPMs, use the tachometer on the dash from 1pp. There is also two sets of graduated bars along the left edge of the speedometer, which seem to indicate when a gear is at efficient operating speed. Do not try to start the truck moving up any sort of incline, you need to be going at least 40 kMph in fourth, then smartly shift to third gear to get up hills in the V3S.
  16. I'm pretty sure that a number of people have been hopping NWAF for helis. A four man sniper team could put an end to one person's heli-loot lust, but who has time to camp the airfield, when I can scoot a Lada around the map and find all three in 45 minutes? Maybe once we have a few extra SVD's, instead of all these FALs, I'll give the hopper-stomping some time. As for dupers. Ban them all, yesterday. I never even really liked playing with people who abused the reusable saline bug.
  17. This is why I think the only appropriate action for abusing admin privileges is to revoke them, leaving the server with nobody in control. The cheating jerk still gets to pay for the server if he wants, but cannot abuse the game mechanics for a P2W advantage. Perhaps lock people into a contract, stating that verified abuse will result in forfeiture of services, but the offending server renter will still be responsible for payments for the full term agreed upon.

    Ethical Hunting

I only noticed my typo after you quoted it. How embarrassing. Worst KoS justification of all time? Hyperbole much? Seriously though, in the very rare possibility that an apocalypse scenario actually plays out, wasting resources will make my trigger finger itch as much as anything. People who burn books to stay warm will lose all of the advantages of centuries of collected human knowledge. People who burn toilet paper, because it is easy and abundant, will live to regret their mistake. People who waste food in a survival situation might not live to regret their poor decisions. As far as RP is concerned, wasting game is as good a reason to shoot somebody as the ubiquitous "he might have had a gun" line; some might even say it is a better reason to pull the trigger.

    Ethical Hunting

I think you are just out looking for something to trash-talk. If you saw somebody digging around in a tent that you set up, would you feel justified in killing them? After all, did you write your name on the tent? Didn't you just find it laying around to begin with? Who was the original owner, and did they transfer ownership of the tent to you? Are we to assume that the apocalypse works on the first-come, first-served basis, and that ownership is determined by line-of sight and personally controlling a resource, or area? If I decide to go onto a server and play as if everything in Zelenogorsk belongs to me, am I just making up an excuse to KOS? Would it be better if I left a barrel and a note at each road leading into town, declaring my ownership? Can we even post signs, or mark trees in the game? Does role-play, or having a personal set of rules to play by bother you? Why you gotta go busting people's shops for taking offense at a bovine AK massacre? Are you saying that OP would have been wrong to have let the guy take one cow and move along if he had seen him do so respectfully, and without waste? Don't you have anything better to do than try to convince someone else that their in-game ethics are worthless, because you still see them as run-of-the-mill KOS player?

    Ethical Hunting

False! Ground squirrels are cannibals. When I was a kid, while shooting squeaks in the fields, I used to notice how they would eventually drag their dead back down into their burrows. There ain't no field hospitals in squirrel burrows. They aren't embalming their dead down there, either. They. Were. Eating. Their. Dead. Siblings.

    Vehicles

Make sure to inspect the tires; especially after a collision. If you can see any of them clipping into the map, you must rotate them to restore proper friction. As for the immovable vehicle bug, please upvote and add any relevant notes from your experience.
