OVERHEATING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
emuthreat replied to wampa's topic in General Discussion
I wear full USMC clothing, Olive HI-cap, assault backpack, M10 gas mask, and green cowboy hat. Everything but the vest is usually in my backpack until I stop running for a few minutes and need the camo/storage. I am almost always sprinting around. I HATE standing still; it gets my emu-senses (paranoia) all worked up. My running mates are often annoyed with me because they never know if I am huddled in a bush 5 feet from them, or if i have ran a kilometer off in a random direction. Also, I notice that the USMC clothing never seems to get more than damp, so it's not that great for cooling off. I know it's a bit inefficient, butt I like my "cheeky" workaround. -

I always run with a modular, match-grade, break-barrel pistol TM. If you would like one, drop a barrel with what you would consider fair payment inside, and PM me the location. I'll try to drop it off within a day. -
I tried to pick up a mil tent yesterday, and it bugged on me. It wouldn't show up on my back, and I couldn't move my assault backpack from my hands to my back either. I logged, and came back to find my backpack gone, but that the mil tent was now on my back. I don't miss the Longhorn, of the FNX I had just tricked-out, but I was carrying a few questionably cooked pieces of meat and fat to my camp with charcoal tabs to test which ones were okay to eat. It seems that logging with certain items in hands is still a bad idea at this time.

TAKE YOUR CLOTHES OFF, SILLY; IT'S SUMMER TIME!!! RUN NAKED THROUGH THE LUSH FIELDS OF INFECTED, AND LET THEIR WANTING CLAWS CARESS YOUR NAKED FLESH. bEFORE YOU KNOW IT, YOU'LL BE HUDDLED BY A FIRE FOR HOURS, AND MISSING THE DAYS WHEN YOU COULD RUN AMOK, UNHINDERED BY CLOTHING. -

SVD or VSS is not going to happen, for just one pristine hat. If you can find me ten, maybe I'll think about it. I was hoping that you would suggest a fair price. -

I'll be on later today. I'll try to set up a neutral camp someplace up north of Gorka. What did you want in trade? -

We saw you guys take the bus through Vybor the night before last. Lost sight of you by Kabanino. If you want to make contact in the server, I suggest using conspicuously placed protector cases with notes inside. Anywhere along the western corridor would likely get found within a day or two. We are pretty reasonable and willing to talk and cooperate, but do not mind having a rival group, either. If any of you are very new to the game, and interested in learning some basic skills and strategies, I can organize a guided terrain navigation tour; hunting, fishing and cooking clinic; and show you how to quickly and efficiently get camps established. Whatever helps... -
You're a loot.

Killed a bull last night with one shot from a chambered FAL. Shot him head-on in the face. Hope this helps.

Longhorn won't one-shot a cow either, but most guns will kill them with two shots. I have found plenty of fish hooks, but the bone ones should work. You just have to craft worms and hook into bait first, then put it on the fishing pole. All the .308 rounds are on the coastal warriors in their duped protector cases.

I'm going to assume that you didn't have a grenade with you at the time.

Take your pants off.

Nope

I neglected to do the math, but I have counted the time to target at ~300 meters to be roughly one second. I don't really think the terminal energy is an issue, so much as the ease of use. At any rate, I've found a few bullets to feed one of them, so it's time for a field test.

Veteran player returning to .60 - what's changed? Lets talk Loot, Persistence, State of Game
emuthreat replied to redmantab's topic in General Discussion
Backpack persistence is four hours. Crafted backpacks have only one hour. I though this needed clarification. They are definitely not persistent for 12 hours. -
Has anyone seen a Smersh Backpack in .60?
emuthreat replied to Schlake's topic in General Discussion
The backpack takes up nine slots. I know this because I found one yesterday. Haven't seen a vest since experimental. Found vests at both Russian and NATO crashsites. -
To use the VSS effectively for anything more than devastatingly punchy hip-fire at close range, you will have to plan ahead, know your shot and adjust your zeroing perfectly, gauge the speed of the player, execute the shot absolutely flawlessly, and hope the target doesn't change speed or direction in the 600-1200 ms travel time. Simple enough, right? If less than 300 meters, you can just spam them with all 10 shots and hope you get lucky. Pretty much any hit will take someone out of the fight.

^^ THIS GUY GETS IT. I often keep my pants inside my backpack as a workaround. I still heat up, but much less than people I'm with. Best I can do is to avoid gloves, face and head coverings, and to take off my pants and jacket when not needed for storage or camouflage. And yes, it was a huge issue in exp. Seems like heating up is working properly, but cooling off is not. It was conveyed (by SMoss, I think), that it is summertime and Simulweather has been implemented. But I notice on stable that the shadows are much longer, and that the path of the sun seems more consistent with autumn. Perhaps the weather simulation and the date are not reconciled at this time? I ran around this morning overheating off and on for three hours, while watching my breath... Something seems off.

So halfway through the game you just up the system requirements?
emuthreat replied to DukeHenry's topic in General Discussion
If you bought into Standalone 2.5 years ago, then you must have paid less than $30 US. I'd venture that you have already gotten your money's worth out of both this title, and your aging card. Have you thought of starting a GoFundYourself campaign to improve your machine? I'll bet you also complain to the shoe store when you walk the soles off a pair of sneakers after a couple years. Lots of folks actually get excited about it, when software improvements force the upgrading of hardware. Oh well, Ned Ludd saved a spot for you at his complaining table. -
Where i can find easily .22 rounds in 0.60? :P

A Few Thoughts On.. (Loot Economy, Protecting the Vanilla Experience, etc..)
emuthreat replied to Hicks_206 (DayZ)'s topic in News & Announcements
This is great news regarding the direction of the vanilla experience, and the creation of a more demanding server environment. I have some questions relating to fish, though. How does taking away half of the meat from a caught fish add to the authenticity of the experience? If you thought fish was a little bit OP as a food source, due to the relative ease of access and infinite nature of fishing for food, why not just reduce the caloric value to that of a chicken breast? But aside from vehicles being more broken than when they were new, the one-fillet decision is my only complaint about .60. Touching on what Tigermonk said above: There are now so many chickens on the map, that if the guts were able to be made into rope, a player would have absolutely no barrier to survival, so long as they understood basic crafting, hunting, and fishing mechanics. Remove all packaged food, and increase the number of canteens, and see how loudly people protest? I know of a number of people who would rather starve than pick apples or build a fire to cook. Please, please, make them starve for science. -
I thought this was fixed in.59. Did it get unfixed?
