After 3 days of roaming high pop servers in the north looking for players to interact with, Eno and I were talking about heading to Berezino and then maybe south the next time we could play together. We were just about ready to log near Svetlojarsk when we spotted someone.. then another, and another. Keep in mind, we normally like to engage in chatter with other players, maybe try and hold them up but let them live. After the 3 days of not seeing a single soul, I let the bad blood set in and resorted to shooting on sight after the first guy ran away. Sorry dudes! This video is about 11 minutes long but I didn't want to cut out all of the clips that that lead to the end result.

It seems that the devs only get to see the negative stuff on these forums. There are quite a few people out there that I know that appreciate the direction of the game and the commitment of the devs (and I don't know many people mind you). Thanks for all that you do!

Last night Eno and I teamed up (with lots of hand holding) to see what kind of trouble we could muster up. We met up at the NEAF on a mid pop server that filled up to capacity within a few minutes. We hung around the airfield looking for activity for about 10 minutes before we decided that roaming the main road that leads from Novo to Severograd should be busier. As we came into Novo we encountered no player activity and only had resistance from two zeds that were quickly dealt with. We looted some buildings on the way to Severograd. Along the road we looted more random houses, still, with no movement anywhere. This server was maxed out, so we thought for sure we would see someone even if for a second! We eventually came across the quarry and just south of it is one of the new schools. Since I had not been inside one yet, we decided to clear it and see what we could find. Those school boys and girls sure left a lot of hunter pants behind. We found about 50 pairs of random hunting pants with nothing else inside. Meanwhile, we keep scouting out the windows hoping to see another soul somewhere, ANYWHERE. We figured that most people must be at the NWAF, or southern coast, but the run was too long for our liking. We called it a night with nothing note worthy to speak of. This whole process took nearly an hour and a half to two hours.

That would be GREAT!

Hahaha, i love the commentary at the end.. "I definitely deserved that". Nice shot though!

Yes, he is referring to tents. Eventually we will have other forms of storing items.. I recall reading about barrels as well.

I can find pants, but not the cargo or military pants anywhere. Usually they are the ugly canvas pants. Granted, I have not looked on prison island or at any of the airfields (balota or NWAF). I'm hopeful they have to be at one of those locations.

If I were him I would've at least helped you find the alley.
-
It must be state specific because I know you need special permits in order to buy and maintain a full auto weapon. What state are you referring to?
-
Full auto? No. Semi-auto? Yes.

Back when I used to play Operation Flashpoint (pre ARMA), the modded snow maps were so much fun to play. Modders had snowmobiles and snow vehicles (textures showed snow on the wheels and such). With that said, playing DayZ with snow falling, with snow on the ground, trees, and buildings, it would bring a new feel to it. Otherwise, a tropical island paradise would be nice for me, with pretty clear blue waters and palm trees for me to hug. I've had experience with the Operation Flashpoint map editor, granted, that was over 10 years ago and I am sure it has come a long way since then. But I remember it being rather fun to use.

Last night, I logged on to my 1pp public character to see what I could find. The 1pp servers with good ping had only 4-5 players tops, so in I went. I found an ak74 with a silencer and one mag. I painted the gun + clip black and put on a black buttstock to make it look better. I roamed around Novo and thought I saw movement along the road heading west. I flanked around and did not see anyone, nor a zed. I took my time in the tree line scouting the area for about 10 minutes before I gave up. I then headed back into Novo and killed about 5-10 zombies as I looted houses and such. I've noticed that their screams sound like they are coming from different directions and also sound like multiple zeds are giving chase at once. It's really quite discombobulating. I'm really glad that they don't hit me 5 times in one swipe like the last update.

ColdAtrophy and I grouped up the other night and joined a high pop server looking for trouble. We logged in up north near Novo and went scouting for players. Not 10 minutes into our search, we spotted a guy duck into a 2 story building. I asked ColdAtrophy to get eyes on the front as I went up the hill to scope out the back of the house. Just then, the guy comes out the side entrance and we decide to capture him. I run up shouting orders as the guy slowwwwly complies. ColdAtrophy binds him with rope as I tell him to walk back into the house as ColdAtrophy locked the doors behind us (which seemed like it took forever) . I get him upstairs and check his gear, which he had little of.. he had a winchester with no ammo and apparently a shotgun that he disclosed to me but I couldn't see it.. but I did see the shotgun shells. Just as I tell him we are going to let him go, the server restarts. DOH Does anyone know if it still kills you if you are logged out while bound? I hope he survived..

Had a short session on Wednesday night with ColdAtrophy. We decided to hold hands and gear up our 3pp characters. We met up and found that there was an over abundance of pretty much anything we wanted in said server. I had a winchester with a hunting scope and he had an ak74 with a suppressor. We traded to suit our liking's and were able to find more than enough ammo, canned food, and clothing. We were even able to get the color of the clothing we wanted to match our desired look of our characters all within an hour to an hour and a half of play. I found that I could not get my character past the dark green stage of energized at first. The only way I could get past this was to "eat" (not "eat all") of an item, and then it would get to the bright green energized state. I was also getting cold even with my clothing in worn or pristine condition. So we built a fire before logging out. Not very exciting, but checking out some of the new stuff was kind of neat.

NICE job! That was a tight situation but your footwork/movement was impressive!

I love your stories.. my sweet, sweet Eno. :)

Excited for the Upcoming Disease & Cold System

Well said! I'd give you more beans if I could.. -
This ^ Sometimes logging out and back in fixes it, sometimes not. It's really odd!
-
He also could've been standing close to a fire prior to the video starting.

You don't normally have a "foul tongue" and that event justified those words. As much of a cluster it was, it was fun regardless of how it turned out. Hopefully next time my aim will be much better. The gun sway and the fact that anyone can currently run circles around you at mach 4 makes it tough. Fun stuff.

Starting off this night of adventure is Eno, Dave, and I, together again after a week+ hiatus of having conflicting schedules. We met up at "Chez Eno" (aka Berezino coast). Our plan was to roam the coast south of Berezino to offer food and water to freshies. We joined a populated public server and took our time as we made our way south into the factory (north of Solnichniy) before Dave had to call it a night. We had no contact up to this point as the server reached capacity. Eno and I then decided to keep heading south to offer support just as Eno tells me to break comms because he spots a fresh spawn. He stopped and gave his friendly introduction before being punched square in the face by said freshy (lol). It must have been his shoulder or chest that was hit, because he was not knocked out. Eno sidestepped as he skinned his weapon. I was up the road a tad so I let off one shot in that direction to create a distraction. The freshy took off south towards Solnichniy and headed off into the woods in the opposite direction. We decided to let him be as we turn to head north. This is where the video picks up (please excuse the awful aim by both of us, haha).. After this video ends, we pick up the pieces in a nearby home. I then start heading north in the open field like an idiot and wander back and forth while Eno takes care of some zombies. I then have the brilliant idea to stop and take a drink in the middle of said field and proceed to take a well deserved shot in the back. My backpack, shirt, and all the contents inside those items were instantly ruined. I scream like a wee girl and run for the inner city as I zig-zag like a maniac. More shots ring out that sound like an AK. We were not sure if it was one or two bandits so we stop to assess the situation. I dump all of the ruined crap out of my bag and continue to check my surroundings as Eno spots someone in the treeline heading down towards us. Just as Eno gets a bead on the guy and I start to flank to the left, the server restarts. We immediately hop back in with the hopes to continue where we left off but they seem to have not rejoined the party. We swallow our pride, water up at the nearest water pump, and call it a night.

"No message received for xx seconds"...?
schwaBAM replied to vfxtodd's topic in New Player Discussion
It means the server is either restarting or has crashed. Just disconnect and find a new one or wait for it to restart. It could also mean that you lost internet connection while playing, but most times it just means the server is restarting. -
I pick up items/ammo/weapons and place them in random bushes as well. Good story!

Ha ha.. yep!

Me and "thewire" decided to meet up on a low pop and then go look for a truck to take us to some military bases. We decided to meet at the well in Vybor with the intention of heading north to the airfield. I made it to the well first as thewire advised that he was in the wrong town (he was in Kabanino, the next town east of our rendezvous point). I decided to construct a makeshift silencer and put it on the end of my sks (I later found that this is ruined after the first shot and the first shot did not sound silenced). We were not on any voice comms at this point, so I had a bright idea of "scaring" him when he arrived. My plan was to run out and yell at him over in-game comms to get down in a masked voice. So, I typed to him in steam chat that I saw a guy near Vybor (to play into it) but he immediately called me on steam voice chat in panic. My plan was foiled.. aw shucks. We filled our water bottles at the well before setting out and then headed north and looted every building and tent the NWAF had to offer. We noticed two trucks on the runway (one a normal v3s and the other a cargo truck, but they both had no tires! Every wheel was missing!). We could open the doors but not enter the trucks despite everything we tried. It also appeared that someone had been there prior to us arriving as we found nothing of use. From there we decided that finding a truck was our top priority. So we headed to Kabanino, then north to Grishino, then further north to Zaprudnoe, then west to Novaya Petrovka and checked every possible spawn point. Not one truck was found. I saw that there could be a possible truck spawn just north of Nobaya Petrovka in the "barn area" so I ran there to find a cargo truck with a full tank of gas! YES!!! First off, I've driven many "regular" v3s's and have been able to make amazing time around the island. However, this cargo truck is the slowest hunk of junk I've ever driven. We called it "Sunday cruising" because we went through each town all the way to the east coast at 35 miles and hour. The only time we could get above that speed is when we went down a hill and we got up to 45 for a few seconds. Other than that, I felt helpless driving this thing. We had a bunch of laughs along the way and saw some places that I have never been to. We arrived in Svetlojarsk and suddenly heard a "HEY GUYS.. HEY! GUYS! HOLD UP". Thewire was the one to hear this as I couldn't hear anything in game over the truck engine. I saw that he had a sledge hammer and no primary weapon of any sort. So I cut the engine off and told him to get in if he wanted. He quickly obliged and we headed down to Berezino with a new friend. Along the way I could hear him talking as long as I was in 1pp. He advised us that he had a friend in Berezino that he wanted to meet up with. This put me back into "alert" mode as I was expecting someone to be waiting and to shoot us as we approached, or disembarked. We arrived at the northern gas station and I pulled up to the pumps and cut the engine. We all disembarked at the same time and I let thewire draw his weapon as I kept mine holstered. We chatted with our new friend for a moment and decided to go look for a gas canister. He said he would go look for his friend and then meet us back at the pump. I ran to a few sheds before I decided that I did not want to sit and wait to be slaughtered. I went over to a large brick (non enter able) building and climbed on the roof via ladder while thewire took cover in the gas station behind the register. We waited for a few minutes and no one showed up so we decided to get in the truck and leave. I started up the engine and started to drive away at an impressive 30 miles an hour before I asked thewire if he cared if he died. He said no, so I decided to have some fun and risk the interaction with another player. I turned around and drove back to the gas station as we looked for "Jake". This is where the video picks up.. tl/dr - nothing too exciting happens except for fun hand-in-hand male bonding
