    Theories on what happened to me!

    Not everything is an friend ambush in this game, it takes a ton to setup sometimes. The ambush happens because of the loud truck, someone hears it then you may or may not hear a pop from gun off in the distance. or it was a crappy common lousy bug.

    Graphic bug

    You where quiet clear for me, and it was very well written. :) The problem your faced with is this, 1. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date. 2. Some lower, and higher end cards may experience this. 3. Double check your options. All reports should be done in the bugs section, if your to receive any support from the Devs. He is experiencing what we all did with the fences being green, white in color when you aimed a different way with your character. The problem may also lie in your shadows area, somehow showing the graphics as flipped. Do try and tweak with your graphics some. Review U tube for the best setup for Dayz. What is your graphics card? and what version are you using for drivers. ATI might experience this more then NVidia.

    Truck noise makes me want to KILL

    This is why I will be scripting in the 25% reduction script. What we called ear plugs script. I had ours down to 5% noise. Worked every time you got in and out of the vehicles. Otherwise you still want to have some noise. Then I would like to play the radio :)

    It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

    Problem is, many don't understand the modding part and many of the posts are misdirected about the development phase. They cant grasp items are being tested etc.. and everything changes patch to patch. Complaints come from pre design flaws that are being worked on. I wish there was an easier way to explain it. 90% of the posts are redundant now. Most of all, they cant grasp its alpha and alpha is testing the structure lol
  5. Bear traps easy fix, person only takes partial damage then it releases. Or no damage at all, since it was intended for hunting not pvp. Or make the weight and size difference of a backpack, size of a full ghillie suit. That there is up to the dev's to fix. The global damage system or individual item one might be the tricky part. Mines same deal. Then you got the other side of the coin, pvp what items are for those people on survival from other players, Z's. Unless it is only placed around bases in the future and built on top of something within range.

  7. Which in time will be fixed with the self server hosting. Databases are local. As long as they are private and do not have the ability to download their characters from another server. Arma doesn't do this but other games I noticed like ARK does!! you can turn that off too. So Modding and hosting of servers will help improve that. I do know that from the arma series.
  8. You guys are both missing the points. Players will do everything in their powers to exploit, look for ways out of situations etc... It will get much worse with consoles. Not 1 person on the dayz I bet even thought about combat logging as a problem. But they did repair a small but growing concern 2 minute re login timer. This time was a fix for the character loading problems we had. I am glad I helped suggest that one, it did prove to work. Not saying I changed anything but that is what you both must do. Find a way together to fix the combat logging issue. Problem is people also log off for the night and it might just happen to be in front of you. Now take away the other problem, we have is server hopping. Fix 2 birds with 1 stone. We also have another issue both of you guys never thought of, that's the problem with a player kills you loots everything then server hops asap. That there is insane, usually a person sitting in the dark spaces waiting for you to walk in and then shoots you, loots then goes to a different server. I don't know what is worse to be honest, but find a solution together. I suggest shutting down the public hives and make them all private. So you start fresh.

    Server Hopping Fix

    I can confirm your totals, from remembering past logs and admin tools. approx. 3-5 minutes a person stays then logs off. On a server that is private, but open to the public sometimes the numbers can grow as much as 50 in a 30 minute span. If not a lot more. This shows you the approx. number of players that double click the servers so fast they don't read if its private.

    DayZ SA Modding: A New Map

    I am not sure exactly what Steam will be like to host some of the mods. Apparently if you read the Arma 3 forums at BI there has been many upset modders because of the steam rules. I know little about it but read some of the comments. Here is probably 1 topic on it and it will relate to Dayz in time. http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?191001-Steam-workshop-policing-is-meant-to-work-how If we follow the rules now it may save the modders a ton of grief in the future. Like I said I don't know much, I just read on it and was surprised about steams policy if you upload your mod it becomes the property or something like that of steam, valve. I would have to find that post somewhere and re read it. Awareness is everything.

    DayZ SA Modding: A New Map

    LOL you have had your fair share of storms on the east coast. I hope the weather is doing good now :) Canada theme would be all woods, and small towns, 10000 to 400000 until you hit the cities. It is so under populated compared to the USA meeting those massive cities. I wouldn't think a Canada map would work well other then its in NA. I would however agree that the USA has pretty much the same as we do, in regards to wooded areas and lots of snowy areas. Around the lakes it appears to be the worst where I live. North of Windsor. Now you could do a Windsor, Detroit map crossing of the bridges :) I would think huge over pass roads ruined by weather and explosion damages into the city would work well and NY reminds me of that going to the city. Dallas, Denver, Washington so many to choose from. Wilderness maps are easy to create because anyway you decide to put a tree it pretty much sums up NA lol Just name the map whatever you want it to be. I do agree making a cherno style USA map is not a bad idea, where you may have 4-5 cities close by and smaller cities towns. Making buildings walk into, can be moded and scripted with loot spawning. Arma also has that by the dozens available to reference. I don't know what else we will be getting yet for tools.

    DayZ SA Modding: A New Map

    A map that involves the USA gov't closing off a city that is infected. A team of survivors venture off into the city to find people alive and not infected. It can be a bridge, water crossing, or highway into the city. Another idea is using the movie themes some. Having a city that has been burned, rubble weeds growing out of the roads etc... Military tried to hold it back and contain it, but was unable to. We could have spawn points around that or inside the city. Many ideas but most of us from North America will pick USA or some where in NA we are used to. Since USA have many of the larger cities with skyscrapers it would become much easier to modify. I wish you the best luck, and would be willing to help build from your map a M3editor style theme and host it. But that's the best I could do given the lack of experience I have with modeling. I am testing Afghanistan map in epoch and am waiting to switch to exile for it due to the limits I am having with the theme in epoch. Too much has been hardcoded in. If you decide to use a USA theme, I would be all over it and help install it for use in dayz

    I also want to raid players bases, and go around shooting a player in the face and steal all his or hers wares HEHE Its just me I like to pvp sorry but I do like the pvp, and pve mixed. I also don't mind crafting of some sort. I remember a crafting game that was on PlayStation 3 dead island, most of us know this game but you could build cool looking items. I am down with that, and make myself look different. I would also like to have the ARK style character building where we can change the details a little more then the current system. Having the death displayed at the end like a person posted from prior games was way cool. I agree we need something to give us a big feeling of Damnit, killed again.... oh ill get that bugger back. Everyone likes to be scared some. Even if its someone pointing a gun at you from off in the distance. You will always react and decide what to do. Sorry its been awhile since I last played, awaiting what's to come in the future.

    snipertrifle Have you played games like ARK, or other MMO's where survival is a key feature only in those games. It is required to do these things in order to survive. It boils down to our choices, almost like those multi choice books. If we band together with other clans (groups) we will fight other players on the map for notoriety. Groups, enjoy this, and will do anything in the game to build on. Building bases will be a big factor in Dayz. You must obtain items in order to build those bases. What will happen is pvp period, because now with the options we will have many different servers hosting pvp, or pve, or both combined. We make the game up, we survive and be noticed. If your name pops up snipertrifle kills so and so over 5 times a day you know people will notice you and hunt you down more often. Modder's will make up things to make it more enjoyable. Survival is just a feature, as important as base building and pvp. You have to have something in Dayz, because there is no end boss mobs to kill over and over, and there is no gaining of levels or special abilities. It is just you simply trying to survive and decide either you are a bandit or a hunter, farmer. Its your choice and mine if we make it pvp or not. Players will build a character up to do something. If the small group of people wish to vanilla play Dayz then those servers will be there. The rest will play on PVP style servers. You still will be required to survive in some fashion. Time is on our side, and when we see the tools given to us nothing will matter what is done by the dayz team. It will be a starting point to what we decide it to become, simply put. I do agree with you on many sides of the coin, and I wondered that exact same thing will we be able to play the way we want or the way the game wants. I want to enjoy it not simply hate the game but the choice to mod the game to our likes and dislikes will make the community grow even more. Ill bet you in a year after moding and hosting is released we will have doubled or tripled online servers. People will want to host it for themselves and not pay ridiculous amounts of money to use half of the supported features. This is why I like arma so much. Sneaks P.s hold in there because there will be pvp servers all over the place.

    its vanilla so much can happen from now till beta. Hicks already announced they where working heavy on survival. PVP is what we make of it. If I have a knife, you a bat, you will try to swing at me, or make friends. If I have a bag full of Twinkies and you a bag of money, I bet you take a swing at me first! right now people see others as a threat, that alone shows it is kill or be killed. I would like it pvp more then playing deer hunter, I would like pvp more then playing Farmville. Yet both are popular games. If you want dinosaurs you will play ARC. If you want a mixture of zombies, and the walking dead theme you will play Dayz. If that stamina system you refer to is to stop, laydown wait 15 secs, jump up and start to sprint again... you can bet ill mod that one out first :)

    File structure, not coding (reverse is not allowed). I don't think I said that, but if I did it was arma 3 reference. We script many things to work with the arma game. I expect dayz to be close to the same if I am correct. I guess it depends on the tools we are given. Most of it will be arma 3, 2 tools we are used to, that is if its going to be the same. If it is the same, expect a butt load of quality mods to come out, if those mod makers care to flip over to dayz. Otherwise it will be a new breed of modders. Also depends on what mods might be useful, dayz is a different idea. Otherwise we could have just taken the zombie animations and moved it to arma 3 as a mod, items map etc...

    I should ask? Will it be possible the file structure we have now, BI coding still be somewhat what we expect in the future. Given that it doesn't change by BI. If so expect so much more to happen with mods then I ever expected. Arma series mods are truly some work of genius by these mod teams. Only the server scripters, mod makers would understand what I am referring too.

    Player interaction will always be there, so will the fact things can be monitored much better and so will the fact players cant server hop no more. private servers was the way to go, public, official well it depends how that structure stands. But mostly nobody really commented on the video, hicks did. good job if you ask me, you only get so much from text chatting to someone. After seeing the video... Hicks I getcha, totally I do man.     Rightfully so, because mods make the expansion for vanilla. Unless we tweak the crap out of it to something totally different. Same can be said about arma 2, and arma 3 and I am sure arma 4 will be the same. Modders change the gameplay and fill the void players need. It feels so good to complete something though and shoot it out there to the community to try :)

Thanks Hicks for confirming what I already knew :) ehhe Sorry I had to ask prior lol, but great things will come from this and revenues should sore! Amazing, just amazing. The arma series grows daily, and seeing dayz in the same manner promotes the game even further. What you don't like in dayz, can be modded in someone elses mod. SP mods, or SP action might be fun. I love to mod arma, so this will be loads of fun for me. Scripting, based on something I enjoy will mean better things to come. Dayz thus can focus on the base model vanilla and players can enjoy that rich environment. Others can simply tweak what they feel will be fun. Such as the map :) North America maps on the way!

    and landing on your feet can cause a huge shock up your spinal cord, which can cause death. Not just being crippled the rest of your life but lead to death. If an old person can fall break hip and die, imagine if your body couldn't handle the blow to your feet. We always hear of 1 good story a year of how someone falls from 1 story or 2 and lives with no injury. We never hear of how many deaths are each year to simple falls, back, legs, head, etc.. I am sure you get the facts.

    Hmm not true, look at how many 1 story accidents happen each year with builders and roofers. you fall the wrong way and you can die any which way. Construction workers add up to a massive amount. Spinal cord injuries are serious stuff. I know my lower back was hurt badly not from falling but in the construction field. Doesn't take much, believing your godly and cant get hurt. just some facts, so you don't believe people cant be killed.
  25. No don't do that, you asked the man if it was ok, they expressed opinions now your upset. Myself I would fight it out, if I lose I lose but hey I am a man. Unless I am logging for the night. If someone chased me to find me, I didn't know Oh well, guess that's combat logging or is that plain logging for the night, but gets miscued as combat logging. Now if I was shooting at someone, they logged behind a bush. That sucks honestly. Because it happens more time then not. Even by the people that appear to be honest on these forums.
