  2. really like this server probably my favorite server so far (being playing dayz since may/june last year. plenty of loot and a nice amount of cars up north, havent seen the stores yet but kinda excited for when i do :)
  3. thanks for that, I can see that causing alot of problems since there are barracks near spawn areas, anyway I love what you have done with the map :)

    its a good idea however i think cars/helis are limited for performance rather than gameplay

    I think with your first suggestion is cool but the idea i had was to have car part retrievable from broken vehicles and make them really common, however make it so you need lots more parts making the hard part of building a car not finding the parts but transporting them instead

    DayZ Standalone SDK

    allowing access to the internals of the game could potentially increase hacking and open up more vulnerable parts of the game. as a heavy user of UDK and cryengine it would be awesome however i wouldnt want it to spoil the game.

THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION I AM NOT SAYING THAT IT IS GOOD I WANT TO HEAR PEOPLES OPINIONS/IDEAS as the title says, I think it would reduce pvp e.g. the more people you kill the stronger the scent. meaning people defending themselves occasionally wouldn't effect them too badly. the smell wears away over time or by going to a lake and clicking clean clothes.
  10. yea i agree zombies need to be more dangerous, I personaly like pvp however having interactions with other players that dont end with a bullet in your head can be nice too.
  11. again if you read what i said i didn't say it was a good idea, i was hoping for a reasonable discussion however with the amount of 13 year old kids and keyboard warriors on this forum that doesn't seem possible

  14. wow the maturity of this community is phenomenal, but anyway back on topic: considering rocket is bringing back bandit skins (partially) there is obviously a problem at the moment. im not saying its a good idea I am asking for other peoples opinions so it can be recognised as a good/bad idea
  15. this is true but killing someone then magically having a scarf round your head isn't realistic either, sometimes its about making the game better rather than just realistic, I personally want to have a good experience not just a bear grylls simulator.

    I don't agree with either however if rocket gave more tools to the community then players could create there own, e.g having money in the game that has no real value unless players on a server decide to, or giving players the ability to secure areas from zombie spawning and allow players to barricade areas in a more efficient way than the current barbed wire system.

    this would be possible by having multipul versions of the weapon like the l85 which has loads of different scopes in operation arrohead, you could simply pick up a green pouch named l85 acog (the makorov/g17 one) and it would replace the entire gun all together, this would only work for guns that have lots of variants in arma or operation arrowhead

    Alt + F4 issue

    the main problem i see is being unable to get out in time from hackers, I think it would be best to deal with hacking first and leave the alt f4 issue till standalone

I don't personally do it but I have seen people i shoot out disconnect, however with hacking growing e.g. the thunder-dome this is the only way to survive these scenarios. as annoying as people disconnecting can be, I think removing it at this stage in development will punish regular users aswell as exploiters and only benefit hackers. the best solution to this hacking i can think of is to have something that detects major hacking e.g. server nuke/mass teleportation and resets the server back to 10 or so seconds ago and instantly kicks everyone from the game. by solving some problems you will create more problems, at the moment a system to stop the hacking should be top priority not dogs and bandit skins.

Here are some things I think will make day z a much better experience. 1) any player on day z has to use a specific profile name (similar to Xbox live) which is linked to there forum account and their CD key, at the same time enable names in game when you have been killed and when the player is next to you e.g 10m. this would allow hackers/exploiters to be caught by players as well as battleye. 2) increase the direct chat distance significantly, the social aspect of the game when I started out was my favourite part however i don't think you should be able to talk to someone from one end of the map to another but i defiantly think the 40/80m radius is way to low (not for realism but authenticity) 3) remove sandbags/wire/bear-traps. they add nothing positive to the game whatsoever, or have them in predetermined locations where the player can activate them but cant choose where they are e.g. for fortifying a roof 4) the starting out character has a bulletproof vest and ammo pouches and I think a civilian skin would suit the game far more. 5) more dynamic loot spawns like helicopter crash sites, e.g broken tanks, apcs ect that spawn military grade gear. 6) more dynamic environment, similar to helicopter crash sites. inside the arma editor there are small bunkers and buildings, having these scattered around the map randomly would change the game abit each time. 7) give new players a makarov for first 3 lives, although most of you say the games to easy, for someone who has never played arma 2 or dayz before the game can be really off-putting at first 8) track server nuking and reset character upon next login 9) change the number of days alive to actual time alive in game in hours/days that all I can think of at the moment ill add more later
  23. 16) implement a warning leaving area system, e.g. when the character goes into certain coordinates on the map they will die after 5-10 seconds, this makes tent city's easier to find and vehicle hoarding less of an issue 17) make some fuel pumps empty randomly, this makes vehicles harder to run and makes people think about fuel consumption 18) integrate clans and survivor/bandit groups into the forums e.g, join groups, organise teams, group statistics. 19) extend the best part of the game ( first 30-50 mins) make loot more scarce make hospitals have limited supply's, make people go into other towns for gear rather than just cherno/nw airfield once. make cans of coke/pepsi more important by having some lakes contaminated ( this can be shown by having dead zombies in the water) 20) make people want to play at night time by increasing loot spawns and decreasing nvg and thermal view distance

I am saying that we shouldn't spawn with one, i want to see the starting character look like he/she has been swept on shore e.g. ripped clothes and no vest/poutches. although this would require new character models which would be more for the standalone project, there are still civilian outfits in operation arrowhead/ pmc

    tents and trucks/cars need to be fixed they loose gear when the server restarts
