    its funny in Breaking Point i run scene_complexity at 1,000,000 but in Dayz i have to dial it down to 80,000 for the same level of performance

    id like to point out that if you click "drink from fountain" and then keep cancelling the action it still counts so you can actually drink 10x faster, this isn't obvious and ive been playing for months and did not know this

    there is no simple answer to this, you have to run live GPU/CPU overlay and see what you're being bottlenecked by, towns bottleneck CPU, forests bottleneck GPU

  7. the staircase of a police station is a highly effective place to put one.....
  8. im GPU bottlenecked in forests and the biggest gain I get is from lowering shadows to HIGH but i can't really notice what is causing such a big difference in performance, can anyone more knowledgeable about this chime in? its a huge difference like 10+ FPS
  9. i dont see how it is in any way realistic that zombies attacking you with bare hands can ruin RAGS, CANTEENS, WATER BOTTLES, or a PISTOL made entirely out of hardened steel....it makes zero sense

  11. i get it most players can know just by looking at their food/water levels but it's not obvious to newer players...
  12. i understand scenecomplexity limits it to a certain amount of objects, how does the object detail setting relate to this? is the scenecomplexity setting = to the normal setting of object details? to put it another way, when i put SC on 100,000 and OD on 'very low', what does this result in vs OD on very high? as far as SC goes? also intuitively i would've guessed that scene complexity and view distance would be taxing for the GPU but from testing it seems that object details is completely CPU bound
  13. to anyone interested ill answer my own question sceneZcomplexity is identical to the Object Detail setting and works approximately as follows: object details very low = 200,000 object details low = 300,000 object details normal = 500,000 object details high = 750,000 object details very high = 1,000,000 some of these numbers may be off, the point being that if you set sceneZcomplexity to 100,000 for example you CAN'T touch the Object Details setting in graphics options i personally changed my OD setting to 100,000 and its awesome and actually gives me fluid FPS in towns...places like Novo still lag at 30fps more importantly, 100,000 actually lets my laptop max the GPU out to 99% everywhere except big towns EDIT: i lowered it to 80,000 to get even better FPS in towns...i still can't manage 60 in most parts of a big town but its comfortably above 40 and that makes the game wayyyy more pleasurable

  15. seriously? dead of hunger within 5 minutes of chugging down a can of coke? its just frustrating i assure you in real life people don't sprint from house to house hunting for a can of food and if they dont find it they dont just fall over dead outside the house...give people negative effects for being hungry ..but DEATH? and so fast? *****sh**
  16. persistence just doesn't work well if the bodies despawn in 5 minutes....this breaks the whole concept behind persistence
  17. have you ever thought how ridiculous you'd look if you went about real survival in a Dayz fashion i was running around with a cowboy hat on and a fire extinguisher on my back and i saw a bag of rice and i just jump on it and i stuff the whole bag into my mouth raw because everyone knows a bag of rice is like a godsend... i mean its a joke lol....sprinting from house to house just to find a can of beans so you don't pass out...its just funny if you think about it

    Apartments are very inconvenient places to loot.

    one thing i want to know is where did all the furniture and items out of the hundreds of apartments go?? the wooden houses are still full of furniture but the apartments are completely barren realistically, this is most likely due to the fact that if they furnished the apartments the FPS would grind to a halt

    ****ing joking me right? because our body doesn't know how to regulate blood sugar right? i can and have numerous times sprinted for 15+minutes and longer, no-one in my platoon passed out from hypoglycemia on our morning runs.....and i actually had to sprint with a flak and kevlar and a backpack on numerous occasions. and no hunger and thirst most certainly DON'T have to be accelerated to be authentic.... and in dayz you are more likely to get a bullet in the head than help with your hypoglycemia, at least THAT part is realistic off-time is just off-time...your character freezes in time while you are logged off....there is no need to simulate off-time because it can't be done in a realistic way "And tbh running non stop fully geared would require you to stop and drink quite often." < this i agree with
  20. COMPLETELY SILENT ZOMBIES???? REALLY?? who thought this would be a good idea? i turn around while sprinting and 'accidentally' notice there's 2 zombies silently sprinting right behind me....this is how zombies behave right? what a ****ing joke....why don't you fix the no-clipping instead
  21. how can a zombie ruin a heavy duty canteen by hitting me with it's hands?? how???????? and can you please give a "drink until not thirsty" option for wells??? i mean really i have to drink 5x from a well bc i dont have a bottle? ps. new zombies are awful and no less clipping PPS even a 'ruined' canteen can be used to quickly fill with water and drink....

    im not going to cope with something stupid, i just play less or not at all if the developers find this ok that's on them but the realist crowd is going to move on to other games (H1Z1 has a system that's just as ridiculous)
  23. holy crap man if i knew how heavily armed you were i wouldn't have even tried to attack you with a mosin as soon as i finished looting you a guy just as heavily armed started running up to the ATC idk if he was your friend but wow man that gave me a rush if you want your m4 and grenades back tell me something about your inventory that only you would know and ill meet up with u and give it back to u i really nave no need for so much firepower

    is this even on the roadmap? not being able to tell whether your weapon is on single/burst/auto wow...this game is based on ARMA..a MILITARY SIMULATOR....just amazing how this is still left out
