Well while I broke my personal surviving record I had that idea and thought mentioning it here but I forgot to do so luckily (at least for me :P ) I remembered :D here it is: What about showing visual changes the more time you are alive in this game (logged off doesnt count) like growing being unshaved later on growing a beard etc also your body skin become more dirty. Also what about adding a military salute as a F key animation (you know that thingy when you raise your hand on your head in the army etc) last but not lease give us a trade dialog so you can exchange stuff even with people you dont fully trust or know because dropping things is not that secure one might drop what he promised for the deal the other one could just pick that up and leave... (or atleast try to before getting killed by the other guy) Ok I know thats is questionable since even having a trade dialog anybody could kill anybody after it and taking back the stuff he/she traded but besides that its useful because it makes life easier if you know you have to deal with friendlies people your trust etc.. and its also a frist step to gain trust with a stranger .. like the native americans did... oh well that was not a good example :P

    My brother is a Ph.D in medicine and his friend a Ph.D in biology when I asked them about this they both assured me that nothing close to that could have happened realistically speaking. so yea.... theories are everywhere there is a theory that we are governed by the illuminati doesnt mean that we are. And even a splinter doesnt allow a broken leg to be able to run.... you need months of rest for such a thing to happen.

    ok infected animals now better? :) And also an airborne spreading disease does not mean that it cant be transferred in other ways it just means that its most effective way of transmitting it is airborne for example if I have a simple flue and transfuse a small portion of my blood to you you will get also flue in the same logic zombie hits cruerly the animal zombie gets open wounds during the process animal gets open wounds during the process blood of zombie gets mixed with blood of animal profit... lets not nerd this out with over sophistication its a game after all... I mean I get all this concept with realism but lets not make every debate sound like two starwars nerds calculating the amount of fuel needed for the X spaceship to travel the X distance given the fact that it has positronic superflux omega zero engine etc.... Realistic feeling is ok but dont just stop any idea by adding hyper realistic scientific determinism as an argument because using that logic DayZ would never happen in the first place it does not even have 1 in a quadrillion chance to happen in our world (real life) Or more simple small things (already implemented in the game) if you brake for example a leg no morphine shit gonna make you able to run the very next second you use it and all the time/days after it like you didnt break nothing... and I can go on and on with things that cant possibly happen in real life but happen in game right now.... so dont be so much attached to real life data and scientific determination..this isnt the way to go imho.

Ok I try to step a little on your ground to make this easier :P ok that sometimes could happen... but why to brake the balls of people that would do a legit trade most of the time because of a minority case of plausibilities? and even in those cases KoS is an option so no harm done in terms decision freedom (no game assured result no bonds of conduct etc) .

    for me to have fun in dayz with zombies some things need to happen first (And I am confident that they will) A) Add a hell more of zombies B)they have vision (and not a built in radar that finds you behind walls and houses out of a 800m distance) their vision needs to be limited to a few meters and be cone shaped C) if you are very close to them they can hear you jog,prone,run shooting etc they may not hear you if walking slowly out of their vision or is should be like a 50-50 change to hear you that way D) from a medium distance they only hear you if you run or shoot E) on long distance they hear you only if you shoot** F) If they notice you in any of the above ways they agro you but only those that did notice you in the above way (seeing,hearing) and other zombies that didnt see or hear but can SEE the zombies agroing you (not hear them just if they see them) They cant go inside closed/barricaded building (oh yes I need a feature to barricade buildings :P) or take quite some time to brake a door and they dont brake it instantly first a whole (so that you can shoot some of them through it) then a bigger whole then the entire door. (so that you can shoot kill some then go next room close door again shoot kill some etc) **If zombies are in a long distance and hear you shooting they agro you but dont run to you directly like they know exactly were you are they just run towards the sound (in the general area it was made when you shot) searching for you.. they have to see you or to hear you again within a small or medium distance to be aware of were exactly you are and ONLY then hunt your exact location and follow you G)If zombies cant see or hear for some time they stop growing and return to their spawn places H) Oh and of course they cant teleport through wals or floors. I)char handling needs to be improved, doors need to open easily and climbing stairs need to be easy you dont have to spend time on were to point in order to be able to press F to open a door or to climb etc aiming and shooting needs to be improved... more we will need more ammo (from gun stores for example) Then I would enjoy the game.... but thats far away from coming untill that for the game to have a little spice please admins add this easy to do little feature so that we could have some sort of fun and thrill because now we dont in terms of zombies.. they are not a threat or something they are just easy to kill rare stupid bots that brake yours balls (if not spawning as a zombie upon death then at least add a dialog asking the user if he wants to become a zombie ) .

Counter argument is the same argument as in my previous post. you cant simulate real a life situation in a program exactly as it is in real life so you have to make a superficial dialog or script that doesnt exist in real life obviously but grands the same effect of real life. because as I said I could trade a pistol for a vest lets say I have the pistol on my right hand you have the vest on your left and we exchange that simultaneously... that cant be programmed in a game exactly as it happens in real life (because there are many factors involved like peoples instincts and reflexes etc ) and if you do it then again it will be resource consuming bringing high loads to the server and the client which means terrible lagg... thus the solution of a superficial fix like a trade window . If you run away I can shoot and kill you, if you trade using the window I again can shoot and kill you... so freedom of choice isnt harmed by this implementation it just makes life easier for friendlies.

    Very nice idea and near the laboratory some destroyed tanks zombie soldiers and heavy military gear guarded not only by the zombie soldiers but by 3,4 beefy monstrous looking zomboyds (about 1,5 to 2 times the size of a schwarzenegger in his prime :P ) which will attack anything near them (also the fellow zombie soldiers) which were product of failed experiments in the laboratories!! >:{D Also signs that warn you for their existence.. like isolated rooms with broken doors human bodies around etc

    As of today they just buggy teleporting early 90's bots that brake your balls when you try to kill an other human player because essentially you play arma and not dayz because of the dump bots..ehmm I mean "zombies" Ok I can understand not adding this feature to the final release or even to the beta... but they should make it temporarily available on the prelapha version we have at hand now so that it is more fun to spend time in DayZ

Ok I just looked it a little up on google etc didnt make a thorough research though... so as far I could tell (because I didn't find a definitive answer) when the beta is released the guys that paid for the prealpha will need to buy the game again? and after that when the final release comes up even then they need to rebuy the game? Is that correct? Cause if thats true I find it VERY disappointing... I bought this game just to check it out and contribute in bug reports or make some suggestion ... and then when the game will be released I hoped (naturally as thats what happened in all the games I purchased as alpha/beta versions and in all games in general that I can think of) that I was good to go with no extra cost... on contrary I expected some added privileges for us prealpha guys like some cosmetic stuff only we could have or something... If you have to pay again for the beta version and again for the alpha I think it is a rip off because I paid like 30 euros on this game (again as I said because I think that until the final release that would be all the money spend for it) so if you need to rebuy the next versions is a ripoff for sure because lets face it dayz in this current pre alpha state with all that lack of matterial bugs glitches etc is not even worth 10 euros... even at 5 euros I would think of that game as expensive (again if that price was ONLY for the prealpha and if you needed to spend extra money for the beta and extra money for the final release..) Please guys tell me that I am wrong and that we dont need to spend extra money for the beta and final release... :D

Women could grow mustaches they do it in real life too :P ok women just can go dirty :P besides who makes a woman char with the ideals of becoming a vet? :P mostly they do it for fun or if they are women themselves.. and which woman has men ideals of veterancy showing badassidy and leanmean killing machinacity? so yea :P As for the trading system I disagree because real life and pc simulation cant be 100% accurate so if you want something to be more close to real life you have to do it in a superficial way thats not real (like a trading window) in order to have a real life effect. Because in real life you dont throw your stuff at a stranger wait for him to take it and then to throw some stuff at you... there are ways to simultaneously pass your goods hand to hand or give it in a way that he couldnt certainly steal it from you without you being able to grab it back or grab him to take it back.. but you cant possible simulate those things on the game.. so you need a trade window to compensate for that.

  13. Ok I understand this game needs to stay "realistic" But realistic is one thing medieval is an other... For example maps are partial maps of the area... since when you cant find a map of a entire area (if not an entire COUNTRY)? and they are not rare with 3euros anyone can find near his house a convenience store or a gass station etc that would sell a complete and detailed map of his area or his country etc. so please add the entire map the landscape is huge and your inventory slots even fully geared (which is not so easy to become if you fully geared if you think about it I mean not easy compared on how many things you need in order to find it etc) are limited so carrying like 4 item slots for maps that have different parts of the entire landscape is ball braking really thus for example I never carry them no matter if I think they would be useful (but not more useful as those 4 extra slots they would occupy) Also were are the details? the maps should look like earthview of google maps.. or at least there should be maps that you can find as drops besides those cheepo regular ones... last but not least why dont the maps have english captions for the city names etc? maps are usually for tourists and they usually if not ever have also english captions. Also according to the military gear that's available I suppose DayZ takes part in earth after 90's so were are the GPS devices? Those suggestions are realistic in real life anybody could find a full map of an area from a store in a city. And there should be (atleast in PDs and military bases/airfields) some GPS devices... (actually also in ports and fire stations) And also to add those features no extra coding is needed since a map is a jepeg (or an other image format) so you just draw it and add it to the assets of the game without adding code or risking game stability... Same goes for GPS since the server already knows our exact position on the map it just doesn't reveal it to us. so we need an item that will just reads and displays to us the data the server already has to offer.

    What about adding camo coatings? (not as a drop but craftable with leafs sticks and robe or some combination like this) like the ones snipers use. so when you are in prone position you would blent dramatically more with the terrain also zombies not being able to detect you (if you not moving and have the camo coating on you) That way you could hide from enemies that hunt you down or snipe people or just have a general overwatch giving intel to your squad without worrying a zombie will blow your cover.

    That cannot happen (at least if I understood what you want) because you are playing in a mmo.... More simply lets say ok you accelerate time for you but what happened to the rest of the people in the same server as you when you accelerate time? will they accelerate too? then that would be a total disaster since anyone in any random time could trigger a time acceleration and everybody would accelerate with him as well and basically the hole session in the server for every player would be a continues acceleration since one random guy would do it then the next random guy then the next... If they dont accelerate with you then its like you have a cheat for example running much faster than them(because you started going from point A to point B and you accelerated time) in front of their eyes.

    I didnt play the mod but I dont think its that hard to kill an armed player (well maybe if there he sees you from a distance) you could for example hide and camp on a major loot point of a major city inside a room or something + ok the heavy armed ones would be hard to kill but what if there was 3 of you hunting him down? :P then I think zombies (human controlled ones) would win or atleast have a high rate of success... And yes as I stated above I know its a pre alpha.. but for now to make things more bearable they could add this as a party pleaser because as things go.. we are playing and ARMA game were its much harder to get the gear you want.
  19. Well I think papers are much underrated they add a nice element and add up to the "survivor" environment... When I get a pen and find some paper I usually write some stuff and leave it there or in a relevant to the letters containt location. Like tips for newcomers, stories (in role playing style) of my current state in the game (like November 11th day 4 I survived a wave of zombies ... blah blah.. there is a bandit out there with a red skirt be advised blah blah... I broke my leg and search for an injection please if you reat this at X date it means that I am probably somewhere around so have the kindness to leave one here so I can find it blah blah blah) I just dont think that other players do this too since I never saw a written paper and I check them every time I find them (you dont even have to get them into your inventory you can just read them were you found them) And I find this kind of sad... So I made this topic to encourage other players putting notes out there too :P it contributes to the atmosphere of the game imho. :)

    You should live a note next to it though with your blood group and describing how the blood system works in order for them not to die.

    I didnt mean literally to raise as a zombie because they transfered you the infection but just spawn in a random location as a zombie (like a server rule) if you die as a survivor so that we could have some interesting zombie threats which we dont have now... imagine like a group of 3 human zombies try to find and kill survivors? :P and the strategies they would implement and also the strats you and your fellow survivors would need to defeat or stealth them... that would be awesome I think... In the current pre alpha state I mostly see the zombies as flies and my axe as a newspaper to put them down and let me continue my looting :P

    I dont think that adding some scripted zombies (at least in they way they are programmed now) will make the game more pleasurable.. since they dont "see" or "hear" you they just have a built in radar on a huge radius and come attack you from a huge distance no matter if you are hiding in a builing or they were in the other corner of a town with buildings and walls between you and the zombie.. also they just teleport though walls etc.. so with the current setting of collision and scripting of the zombies adding more will just brake your balls even more and personally I may stop playing it cause it would be like a small countdown waiting to die when you spawn since you couldn't possibly loot with more of THOSE zombies in a town, you couldn't barakate in a building since they would just teleport inside... and even if they would teleport inside you wouldn't loose agro till you kill em all and if you kill them all new zombies will agro you instantly so.. no I dotn think that (again as the CURRENT system works with current zombie scripting and collisions not working etc) that adding zombies will be a good thing.. better to have more human zombies and less bot zombies imho.

    I understand what you are saying... My point is though that in this and in every MMO(/RPG or not) game you cant have people taking it serious or at least the majority of them. There will always be kids,guyz that want to kill their time by doing stupid things for 30 minutes and then leave their game to proceed with their live etc. I was not talking about numbers and stats that you or any other play could see or earn achievements etc. All this karma system (at least as I imagine it) should be calculated in the server and no physical evidence should be revealed to us. (you shouldn't how much positive or negative karma one has not even if he/she is on the positive or negative side at all! ) I can see yours and some other objections but they all refere to the OP's point of view for karma... mine is slightly (but noticeably) different and I just didnt want to open a new thread about it since this one existed so that we dont spam with topics that have the same idea but different execution that is chaotic ... its better to state an idea in a topic and then refine it by our added input what we like and disslike etc about that idea.. not just talk about the OP position but about any other idea posted after it or atleast those we liked and disliked. And since I see many of the replies here refere to the OP and state things they didnt like about what he said (and some of those things I didn't like them as well like the falling penalty you mentioned) I will reapply my version of karma here as a quote to my self please review it and tell me what you find superficial about that?

    lol really? didnt even try because I thought it would be impossible (since the alpha lacks so many things :P ) thanks I try it next time... but I hope it wont happen to me soon I just got energised,hydrated,healthy have weapon+axe+food+medkit+tested blud and everything for transfusion,+painkillers+antibiotics etc +compass and map... Now my journey will be to try find some good military gear in the bases... (surprisingly I found a scope+flashlight+stock for an m4 on a tavern outside Kehlm :P) I agree with you, I just find it reasonable and fair not to receive damage from low falls (which wouldn't hurt you in real life either) and to change the 100% leg break after impact since even in real life if you jump from somere high (i dont mean like 20 meters or so of course) its 100% that you break something.

    were is the hand holding? did you even read my suggestion for karma system? or just the main topic? (because yes I found some elements on the main topic that match your description) Its entirely up to the player and how he plays in the map.
