Major overhaul! I can't get any servers to display their ping. Is there a trick? (Edit) - in fact how do I join a game? If I click the green icon in the top left it runs ArmA2 but just sits at the main menu. I'll have a look at the suggestion below, thanks Exo7

LOL oops. Well it WAS in the middle of a road, looked like it had been abandoned. It didn't even occur to me to check the contents of the car. Which leads me to ask another question; So vehicles remain in the game, where you left them, for all to see when you quit the game? So, what happens when I log out and I was sitting in the car at the time?

I also had my first decent game last night but before I tell you about it I have some (more!) questions; - I found a map the other day and it worked fine. However when I came back to the game today my marker wasn't present on the map. Is this a bug? - I've never found a waterbottle yet. Can empty whisky bottles be filled with water? - Heli-crash sites; there are loads marked on the DayZDB map and I've visited about a dozen of the areas but not seen any crashed heli's yet. - What exactly does "Save (car)" do? So I started where I left the other day, I was a bit dispondent because I lost my kit (through bugs) and when it got dark I stumbled around and found a building where I quit. So it was now daylight and there were Z's all around. I snuck out and made deer hides my priority. After visiting 3 hides and easily evading the Z's around them (they just shuffle off), I found an AK47 and 3 clips :) I also stumbled upon a car which was just out in the middle of nowhere, fuelled and working, so I used it to go to the main airbase in the north. Searching 2 barrack buildings I found nothing of interest, except where I entered on building and suddenly found myself on its' roof! Nothing was happening around the airfield at all so I used my car to run over some Z's and parked it in a hangar before I quit out. I enjoyed it. But I'm kinda thinking now 'is this it'?

I want to add to this topic because it's relevant and it'll prevent another thread being created :) I'm only able to play like an hour or two at the most at any one time which makes it very much a single player experience for me. And I still haven't learned to play around the bugs yet. I'm also still struggling to get used to which buildings are worth a visit - for example I'm putting myself at unnecessary risk to get to an outlying building only to find its not enterable and I've wasted my time. I find it really frustrating that I can't hold a gun and the flashlight at the same time and when I've gone to swap over I've either lost the gun, the flashlight, or both due to bugs. I've lost count of the times I've lost the flashlight at night and I've had to stop playing. Very frustrating. I've heard people talking about one area being a higher risk thank another - is it just with the number of Zeds around the area?

Hi - I've had ArmA2 and the addons for a long time and I've had issues running DayZ (ie. I was never able to join a server). I've completely uninstalled everything Bohemia and reinstalled ArmA2 and Operation Arrowhead (all from DVD) from scratch (Win7 64 Ultimate). My issue now is my ping. I seem to be able to join servers which show within the Six Launcher as (for example) ping 78. When I join, my ping shows over 500ms and I'm kicked from every server I tried to join because of too high ping. I play BF3 and my ping usually is under 50ms. So what's up here? Thanks

Hi all - I've installed everything and I'm trying to join a DayZ server without success. The sequence of events are as follows; 1) Start the Six Launcher, select a low-ping DayZ server with empty slots. 2) The game loads, progress bars go across. 3) It briefly flashes "Waiting for Host" 4) The game goes straight back to the multi-player select screen within ArmA2. Any ideas please?

After I reinstalled everything the Six Updater won't connect :huh::huh::huh:

The above seems to be for Steam(?) - will this work on the DVD versions? I too have tried completely uninstalling ANY ArmA2 games (Arrowhead / Reinforcements / etc) and also deleting any Bohemia directories, running a Registry cleaner, and then completely reinstalling from DVD and patching it all up as far as I can. (I also still need the ArmA2 Beta patch and the command line switches?)

Sorry to hear that, am afraid I'm relying on an answer to it here. It's months & months since I fired ArmA2 up, hopefully DayZ will rekindle something ... If I can get it to work.
