Question regarding my Computer
therandomredstone replied to therandomredstone's topic in Technology/Programming
Nope. It's a desktop. I realize my GPU isn't the best. I plan on installing a GTX 970 soon. You seem pretty confident about frames and such. If I get a 970, how much of a frame boost do you think I'll get? -
I'm looking to upgrade a few things on my computer. What is something that is a million times better than the GeForce GTX 645?

Quentin's Troubleshooting Topic

I have another question.. So I want to be able to play DayZ at the most frames possible. So if I completely reset my computer to factory defaults with absolutely nothing on it and installed DayZ. Would I get more frames? Thank you. -
Please help me set my game.
therandomredstone replied to Hateful (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I'm going to be honest with you. Those hardware specs do not look the best.. You could do a few things in the .cfg file, and set certain settings while you are in-game, but the game will still be very hard to play. If you have $6-800 that you can spend, I recommend having someone build you a computer for gaming. Since you said you are "a complete tech noob" then it would be very difficult for you to try to build your own. Edit: Look, it will still be very hard to play but I'll give you a few tips. 1) Go to the DayZ.cfg file and open it with text program. Find the GPU_MaxFramesAhead=xxx; and change the "xxx" to "1" on both of them. GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=xxx; 2) Download This. It has a game booster when you install it. You'd set the booster's settings to "custom" and check the boxes for any and all programs/applications/anything that you will not use when playing games. It could very easily give you 5-20 more frames based on your system. 3) Whenever you are on the main menu in DayZ, go to the configuration tab. When you are there, click on "Video" and then "rendering." all of the things like "ambient occlusion" "alpha to coverage" you should set on the lowest settings. --- These tips should give you a few more frames, but getting a new computer is your best bet. -

Is this the second DayZ Mac post I've seen on in the same day? Something's out there. To answer the question. The mac cannot support DayZ atm. If it becomes compatible somehow in the future, then yes.

HELP A NOOB OUT?!
therandomredstone replied to swampstompabillygoat's topic in New Player Discussion
You play on low pop servers? That's a first for a newb. Head inland. Here, I'll help. Stand with the coast to your left. Turn 90° to the left Look at the birdies Now turn 180° Now run straight. ---- There. Problem solved. You will find food. a lot of it. You will find cool clothes, guns, etc. You won't get sniped from nowhere. Most of the time you'll come across your occasional SKS/MP133 wielding child, who thinks he owns the world. Or the guy with no mic but seems cool. But just to be sure you run away to a different town, before becoming paranoid thinking he followed you, and switching servers. -
It's obvi gonna be added.

How would you feel if 1st person perspective was mandatory?
therandomredstone replied to FlimFlamm's topic in General Discussion
I would enjoy the low pop servers for about two weeks. Before the players realize that they have no lives outside of their bedroom. So the servers have more people. And I have more loot than everyone. So I plant landmines in front of the prison at Dolina. And sit around and do nothing because no one goes to Dolina and then end up saying "fuck it, I've been alive too long" and blow myself up and travel to berizino and find a player with my old gear. yupp.. hardcore.. -
Surviving too long does this..

My FPS drops when I look forward

When you look down you see less. That's less for your computer to have to load. less to load=more FPS -
Being Friendly Gone Wrong. 1vs4 DayZ Hardcore/1PP
therandomredstone replied to Massacre42's topic in Gallery
I really need to start playing hardcore. ahh i'll wait till the update. May I recommend waiting about 2 seconds before letting go of the "direct comms" button? People tend to let it go immediately before your voice can "teleport" to the other guy's computer. Just a tip. And back on topic: That was quite a feat, considering you never aimed down your sights. Bravo. -
TIL the only trustworthy people in DayZ are nine year olds.
therandomredstone replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
I think we've all learned something from this Story, yes? We need more nine year olds. -
I don't really think a 'Bump' is necessary. kichilron had already told you that time will fix it. Or you could buy new hardware. Your choice.

In the mod you could to pretty much anything. Standalone is still working on that "anything" part.

Love the name.

I want to go over a few things you discussed in your post. First of all, they are Infected People. Not Zombies. So, you feel that after killing a few Infected here and there, they should respawn and basically go back to the location you originally killed them at. This will not be necessary, as I will get to my second comment. Have you been reading the DevTracker? DayZIntel? What about YouTube? There will be no Infected in the next update. The reason why, was because the developers increased the number of Infected SO much that the servers were pretty much unplayable. My guess is they are going to either re-implement the Infected with the new render, because the render can run more things with less performance. Thus adding much more space for more Infected. Or just change a few 0s and 1s to fix it. Watch a few videos from .56 in Experimental. airfields if you're lucky will have 30 of those little buggers on one half.. If you shoot a gun, they go running to the area but they don't know where you are. So if you must, shoot one and haul ass outta there, because more are on their way. Now for base building, don't worry, there are plenty of things you've talked about that the devs have been thinking about for quite some time. No sweat. I must give you props for the Soft Skills. Even though there could be plenty more of the skills, the few that you have named by themselves would make all the difference to players. I think I've gone over all I had to go over.. Cheers!

I can't wait until they start working on Optimization. DayZ will surely get better frames-wise as time goes by. I have my eyes on a XDNA Aurum 24K right now. better sell the car :P Juust kidding. But anyways, thanks for the help! -
About the next coming camera angle
therandomredstone replied to Platin.'s topic in General Discussion
You bought the game and what is the FIRST thing you read when you bought it? WARNING: "THIS GAME IS EARLY ACCESS ALPHA. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME AND ARE PREPARED TO HANDLE WITH SERIOUS ISSUES AND POSSIBLE INTERRUPTIONS OF GAME FUNCTIONING" you are in no position to be complaining about any changes made to the game, as you bought this game, and by doing so agreed to these terms. I can't tell you how many situations I've been in where people third-person over a wall to see another player. I can't tell you how many times I've done this myself, either. But changing the third-person camera angle will only make the game better. Making the game fair for everyone. Personally, if they removed third person altogether then DayZ would gain that much more realism. But I know there are those people who physically cannot play first person games. And that is why there are first person only servers. "I shall grab my bowl of popcorn and see how long thy topic lasts." -
It's no doubt that vehicle cargo will soon be added into the game. In Time.

The Olympic speed running was already fixed. They're adrenaline-rushed crazy people who's one goal is to slaughter and rip you limb by limb. So until those guys get tired and start jogging, they're gonna go full speed.

Trust me, I do research and read about things before I post with questions. Then I go back to researching and rummaging around before seeing if I had gotten a reply. I will probably get a smaller PSU, and in time get a larger case if I must do so for more upgrades. What would someone like yourself recommend to get the best frames for DayZ? -

Thank you orlok. I will get a 1000 watt power supply but I want to know if it's compatible with my computer. Will I be able to fit a 1000W i7 Gaming Upgrade Power Supply in my XPS 8700?
