This will ALL be sorted if you haven't fixed this issue already. When I first got dayz I had the same problem, this is what you have to do to fix it: Go to documents in your computer. Click on DayZ Go to "DayZ.cfg" Set "Render & Resolution W&H to 1920x1080 (or your preferred resolution) Then it WILL be fixed.

How To Not Get Your Character Swiped
therandomredstone replied to therandomredstone's topic in General Discussion
I'm going to be attached to my gear, as long as I have my gear. If I die, I wont waste time going "aww man whyyy". Because id be focused on surviving again. If someone is fully geared, and isn't attached to it, that's how they die. They have no motivation. So if you at one point were fully geared and wasn't attached to what you had, and you died, its because you had no motivation. So while you are busy dying, ill be busy LIVING. Thank Youuu :murder: -
Ok, so there is MANY reasons to have a tent in DayZ. The MAIN reason, is stockpiling. you could just get so much food you can survive in seclusion for as long as you want, or store away all of your ammo, incase you need it in the future. But nobody can do this, because their tent will just be looted by someone else if they are offline for lets say, a day or two. But, to get people to seek out tents, AND keep the "realism" effect, if you left a server, your tent wouldn't leave for a full hour. then it would "re-spawn" next time you join into the same server. The reason it would take an hour before it despawns, would be, for instance, a friend is aiming at your tent, and you are miles away from your tent and your friend says "DUDE SOMEONES LOOTING YOUR TENT" the majority of people would just instantly leave the game, and there tent would "leave" with them. But if the "wait an hour" idea was implemented, then you couldn't just "leave the game" because that player could still use/loot/ or even take your tent, for the hour you're not online. NO PLAYER AT ALL in DayZ is going to put things in their tent, because they know sooner or later, it would be looted. So as of now, tents are useless, only used for their looks. The hard truth is, if you want anyone to use the tents in DayZ like you would in real life, then the "tent despawning after an hour of you leaving, and respawing when you re-join the server" idea HAS to be put in. When admins, and/or Dev members read this, just make a simple toll. And before you know it, there will be a new type of players in DayZ, with new goals, that lead to different missions, different ideas, and most importantly, different people. When I bought this game, and I read "do not by this game unless you are willing to contribute to the development of this game" I agreed to that statement, and I'm just doing my part.

Is there a better map than dayzdb?
therandomredstone replied to JGallemore1's topic in New Player Discussion
If you have an android, windows, or ios device, download " IZurvive " Its a map where you can have a group, and set "meeting points" "player locations" and such for your friends, it also has a website, if you don't want to have to use your phone. -
I always use hunting backpacks, they are so, just, I don't know, simple; they hold a decent amount of things, they blend in well, they are a good size, etc. But if my hunting backpack ever became "worn" or "damaged" I'm going to want to get a new one, right? I go to an airstrip, sure enough, I find a pristine backpack (as an example) imagine me switching ALL my stuff from one backpack to the next, and I get shot, that would suck right? here's what I'm thinking: There is your backpack, and the one in the "vicinity" You drag your backpack over the one on the ground, Then an option pops up "swap items" So instead of having to drag all your items from one backpack to the next, you can automatically switch them in mere seconds. This has probably already been suggested, but if it has, or not, this feature should be implemented in DayZ Standalone.

Ok, my question's pretty simple, you know how the new update came out recently, right? There's a lot in it that I don't quite know, but here it is, I have a UK Tactical Assault Vest, its olive. Looks pretty cool. Anyways I encountered some laggy zombies a few minutes ago, it went from pristine to badly damaged, I know there's clothes items that can now be repaired, I was just wondering if I'm able to repair my assault vest. Roll in them answers!

OK *Sigh... When I play DayZ, I like to be very realistic, and I'm sure most of you guys do too! I love the idea of being able to "travel during day" with or without friends, and imagine, there is a full 24 hour server, and its almost nighttime, and before you head up in the hills to set up a campfire and stuff, you find a struggling player, imagine you take him up in the hills, set up camp, and its nighttime. You guys would sit there, talking to each other while the campfire crackles. And you are just there all night (considering you both have time on your hands). Or you could be snuggled up to the fire by yourself at nighttime, doesn't matter. My question is, are there any US Central, 24 hour day and night servers out there? If there are, then could you please put their IPs in the comments. (they don't have to be US Central, but that's my preference)
-
They would add in a "time count" or something before the items transferred from one backpack to the next.

Ok, so my DayZ character is MORE than prepared for a firefight, for avoiding bandits, for helping others, for staying alive. So there's not much else to do, right? I've been at the stage where you decide to rob and kill others, or help defend others. I am idle at this stage, and have been for weeks now. Anyways I have reached my goal. I can repair clothing items if they become damaged, I can EASILY go in the woods, and never come out ever again, and still be able to sustain myself. My Mosin has all pristine parts, compensator, long range scope, a 5 round clip, a pu scope, plenty of ammo, a camo paintjob with a grass wrap to top it off. Anyways I've been carrying all my grenades and ammo and epi-pens in my assault vest for awhile now, but the vest was badly damaged. Even with my magnum, Mosin, firefighters axe, and crap ton of ammo. I stayed away from zombies, locked them in houses, etc. because I was looking for a leather sewing kit, for DAYS now. anyway I said "screw it" and left the coast. I don't know why, but berinzino and the lumber mill were the only places I've been looking for my leather sewing kit. But the first 20 minutes I was inland about a mile and a half, I found a long range scope, I made my grass wrap, more ammo, and found TWO leather sewing kits. Now I'm heading to the far west of the map, to set up camp, hunt elk, cows, boars, etc. And when 0.51 is released, I'm going to get the ghillie suit. When I get it, I'm going to find a nice little spot on the west of the map, to just snipe zombies for target practice, and snipe bandits, help bambi's, etc. Because in this BIG open area, if you have no food or weapons your going to die. This is my plan for DayZ. Post your story, and plan, in the comments below!

I Feel Fufilled.. Do You?
therandomredstone replied to therandomredstone's topic in General Discussion
hmm.. I guess your right.. I got an idea, people RARLEY travel along the very very west side of the map, if I see someone, I will stalk them and confront them. I don't know what ill do to be honest. But the innocent will not be harmed! -

Do you start with a different character in experimental? and what are the risks of playing on it? -

What is the "simple" "adventurous" life you speak of? -
I Feel Fufilled.. Do You?
therandomredstone replied to therandomredstone's topic in General Discussion
well.. it depends, if they are wearing payday masks and are traveling in a group, ding ding ding! bandits! if they are behind a bush with there gun drawn waiting to ambush someone, ding ding ding! bandits. But if someone was just "running along the hills" or "running along the road' I'm not going to shoot them! depending on the situation,i might stalk them, seeing if they are hostile, or friendly, nice, or mean, worthy of my help, or deserving to die. And do you play on experimental servers? because cannibalism isn't out till the 0.51 update. -
Unfortunately if the game says "broken arm" no matter if you actually broke your arm or not, that's what it says, and since painkillers don't fix broken arms, if this one is buggy as you claim it to be, it still will not be fixed with painkillers.
-
Yes painkillers currently work as of the 0.50 patch. But there are curtain things painkillers wont fix. But what they do fix, is pain (hence the name)

Things you regret doing
therandomredstone replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
There was one thing I regretted, but at the same time I wouldn't be where I am today in DayZ if I hadn't done it. so I was in electro. Full server 40/40 people. Anyways I was going through looting buildings, all the doors were clothes, and there was loot everywhere. I thought "pshh no ones here" anyways I had a Mosin with no ammo, a firefighters axe that was black, a orange raincoat, black motorcycle helmet, summer hunting pants, and some boots, and a lot of meds and food. So I saw the hospital and decided to go inside and loot it. before that though, another player found me and we were talking, he was asking if I had any 0 bucks (shotgun ammo) I said "lemme check" and I "pretended" to be looking through my inventory, so I could catch the jump on him if he tried anything, anyways I knew since I saw him that I had no shotgun ammo on me. so I "backed out" of my inventory ;) ;) . and I was like "sorry brother I don't" he said "its fine, do you need any food or water?" I said "thanks but no, I have food and water" and I said "for your troubles, here's a morphine" and I gave him a morphine, then headed to the hospital, I was on the third floor in the stairwell, and two people outside said "is there anyone in there" This is the mistake I made.... "yes! someone's in here!" I went out and talked to them for a while, they said that "they are looking for a dangerous convict" anyways before I was going to run off away from these two fishy characters, a squeaker comes out of nowhere and says "you in the orange raincoat" (me) I said "yeah?" he said "your the one that killed me!!!" and I was like "I've never seen you before in my life" anyways I decided to make a run for it from there. I ran, and they were like "c'mon you have nothing to run for" I went back towards them and was like 'sorry it doesn't feel safe right now" sure enough, one of them shoots me in the shoulder with a Mosin, I wasn't bleeding so I ran like hell. eventually they killed me... Biggest mistake I made so far.. -
Thank you. Is there a status effect to go along with "pain?" I know there is a status effect for a broken limb/fracture.
-
This would be very interesting.. cant tell you how many times I've killed people (out of self defense) and I chose not to loot them because their body is in the middle of a huge town like electro and Cherno. this one guy I killed who was a bandit, had an m4a1. I sniped him from a tall building in Cherno. anyways I said "I'm going to get my butt shot off if I go out there" sure enough, this other player (raincoat, taloon backpack, motorcycle helmet) came prancing along and found the body, and he ACTUALLY SPOKE IN DIRECT COMMUNICATION going "omfg yes an m4 YESSS" he picked up the m4, and still was putting the other guy's clothes on. I wasn't going to shoot him, but luckily for him, someone else did. Dragging bodies to secluded areas. would've meant that raincoat guy would still be alive.. Dev team... you MURDERERS! Cheers! Stay warm and don't lose your beans!

Before I start I just want to say, wow. What an amazing game and development team for helping making this dream a reality. Now For The Issue Currently, this is my character in DayZ Standalone: And THIS Is What I Fell In Love With: Anyways, it is more than possible to be a hardened combat ready military survivor one second, and pull a few things out of your backpack, and become a ghost. Someone that no matter how scared you get, how much you believe you can kill them, that you will NEVER find them. I'm not worried about "storage space" or anything like that for the upcoming improvised ghillie suits, but you cant wear them when you have on a backpack, no problem, ill just sit in this field for 3 hours, or so, with my BACKPACK ON THE GROUND, its all good until your server restarts.. you see, when a server is in the midst of restarting, you cant pick up items, imagine, your sitting in a field with a sniper and a ghillie suit with your backpack full of all your food and most of your supplies, "its fine ill just pick it up when I'm ready" but when your aiming down that scope and the server is restarting, you go to pickup your backpack and you find that you simply cant. And to sit there and watch your belongings, knowing that in another 60 seconds, you will never see it again, that feeling sucks. I'm just wondering if there is going to be a way past this issue, besides knowing when the server your on is going to restart. Persistence from what I hear, is still quite buggy, and that "some of my items wont be in my backpack" after the server restart. And how will I know if a server is persistent if it doesn't say? there has to be a curtain way to find out besides dropping an item waiting for a server restart. So yes, besides persistence.

(THIS LAST ONE NOT MINE) but its really beautiful.

I have a question for YOU
therandomredstone replied to therandomredstone's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah, Rags is a very.. active member, I see his posts everywhere. Most of the time I agree with him. He's a good contributor to these forums to keep most of the ignorant people away. -

Thanks Mandrake, and leather sewing kits are pretty common, so hopefully I wont have any problems finding one. Cheers! stay warm and don't lose your beans! ;) :beans:  -
I have a question for YOU
therandomredstone replied to therandomredstone's topic in New Player Discussion
OH I can assure you I play the game. But is it such a crime to not want to have to go to an airstrip to get a new tactical vest? No one "wants" there stuff to be ruined, but if it was ruined, I'm heading ALL THE WAY to the west of the map anyways, so naturally I'm going to stop at the international airstrip, I just don't want to have to stress over getting rid of items because of lack of space. I'm just lazy, that doesn't mean that I'm "afraid" to go blow up a gas station, and wait to see who follows the noise.. your hostility doesn't help anything. -
I have a question for YOU
therandomredstone replied to therandomredstone's topic in New Player Discussion
Whilst I was writing this post, I was thinking about if a leather repair kit, or duct tape would repair it. I'm trying to find the answer before I play dayz again, I put all my ammo in my vest, and if it goes "ruined" I damn sure don't want my ammo to become ruined too. -
To much, because when you "skin" a person you can easily not get blood everywhere. Why make every one be "clumsy" with the bowie knife?
