Crossfire performance issues and suggestions
therandomredstone replied to Absaolut1l's topic in Troubleshooting
Optimism is not perfect currently for DayZ, but after the new engine, and renderer and such is added into the game, they will work on optimization. Until then I hope that you can get DayZ running smoothly! It's an amazing game it can only be truly played, when at the highest settings! ;) No, but seriously though, I hope you get it running! -
In fact, if they added in more than one variant of bullpup shotguns they would be SUPER rare! That way since there's more than one, you could easily find one at a crash site but only one and almost never two different ones. But things like these are not the main priority at the moment. They are working on milestones currently and any little thing that not 70% of the community thinks about (like bullpup shotguns) will not be focused on.

The Pink Dress - A story of revenge, bandit killing and squeaker justice
therandomredstone replied to twig (DayZ)'s topic in Gallery
Amazing videos as always twig! If you haven't already, check out http://www.dayzrp.com/. If you get whitelisted, you can have experiences that LITERALLY you cannot find ANYWHERE else! Plus you never get KoSed. -
This my friend is the server that you are on and/or your connection. Play on a different server or any server by now, and use the splint. I believe that the reason it never 'used' the splint was because of a high ping/ Desync/ etc.

Who still uses Mosin (+LRS) for range kills?!
therandomredstone replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in General Discussion
The "easily" part may of been a bit over exaggerated. It actually takes time, patience, and some sweat to successfully hit any target over 800 meters. I have, in fact hit a target from roughly 1100 meters. The Mosin can shoot and (I'm not sure how far exactly) can hit an object/entity from over 1100 meters away, though you wont be able to see where and what it hit. My one time I hit a target from 1100 meters was a one in a million shot. I had a friend that was right by my target and I was 1100 meters away. After the target went out of my range of view, my friend started to spot me, and I knew the area very well (I have photographic memory believe it or not, so that helped) and there was a curtain building that the player was heading to and I knew which direction I had to face to hit that building. So I aimed towards the building (it was out of my Range of View) and aimed towards the ground area, and when I shot for the 4th time (my shots were random.) My friend had said that the player who I was sniping at that was out of my Range of View had fallen. I head towards the area I was shooting at and we found the player dead. The only probable solution is that out of those 4 completely random shots that were pass my Range of View, I managed to hit the target. So it in fact, was not a lie. But I know for a fact that any sniper will not be able to hit a target from that distance without a little luck -
So, I like to go for that ghost, stealthy look with my characters. I'm sure some of you guys do too. My character currently is wearing: -------------------------- Black combat boots Black Cargo Pants Black Tactical Shirt High Capacity Vest Black Working Gloves Skull Balaclava Black Aviators ------------------------- The problem with this outfit is that it doesn't look as good as it could look. This is because of my head. I have a skull balaclava with black aviators and that isn't a really pretty combination. I was thinking about adding in Tactical Goggles. Now these googles wouldn't just look very appealing with skull balaclavas for those professional, ghost situations. But this would be worn by all sorts of players. The mitary commandos. The hero, the bandit. A simple common class survivor could even wear them! Thoughts? (on this super awesome idea that should totally be added into the game, especially know, since you were able to read this text)
-
True. But if these were going to be added in the game, one of two things; first thing is that they might add in the goggles WITH the effects of them like you stated above, or they will add in all of the eyewear/headwear/visors that will be in the overall finished game, before they mess with the effects. Because it kind of makes sense to add in all of the glasses and such before you mess with their effects. But you never know what the devs are thinking. Until they are added in the game, we can just wait and hope.
-
This will fix the problem, go craft a splint, then find painkillers, then go in the woods and make a fire. While the fire is burning I want you to eat the painkillers and use the splint. Then sit and wait for 5 minutes and all of the shaking should be gone!

Who still uses Mosin (+LRS) for range kills?!
therandomredstone replied to MarchmelloMan's topic in General Discussion
There are some people that just don't find using a Mosin with a long range scope easy. But it is quite easy if you take curtain precautions. When I snipe this is what I do before hand: I always have a ghillie suit. They are easy for me to obtain. A snipers best friend. I find rangefinders in barracks or at airfields before I go sniping. I make sure my sniper as all attachments in pristine condition. Bu the only ones that matter are the LRS and the Compensator. I always use a splint before I snipe. Because if your arm is broken you might not even know. I am in prone at a curtain spot for a good 5 minutes before I ever start shooting. Once I meet all the above requirements. I can easily hit a target from 800-1100 meters away. -
I had seen a suggestion of improvised water pumps that a player stuck in the ground to get water. Then I thought what about a type of barrel or keg? Finding it: Search sheds, construction sites, industrial locations, etc. And you will have a very rare chance of finding a barrel or hardened plastic keg. What you would do is either take up a large amount of your inventory by placing it inside of your backpack, or hold it in your hands. How you would use it: To use it you would have to take it to a water source (by hand or by backpack) and start to "fill keg". Once the keg takes a total of 10 or so seconds to fill, you will have a water source that you will be able to fill up water bottles and canteens up from once you set it back down. This would be great for large groups, or even two friends who set up a camp in the woods. How long it will last: The full keg will be able to fill a total of 100 canteens and water bottles. In the vicinity you will be able to see the percentage left by the 5s, for example use it a few times from when its full, "95%" will replace the "100%", and so on. I can't tell you how many times I have been with a group of friends and we are in the forest, or resting in a house in the woods or a field, and we all have ran out of water and we have to run through fields to get to a water source, then we drink up, then we end up getting in a firefight and damaging some of our gear, then wandering to a different location. When if kegs/barrels were added, we would probably have still been sitting in that house, with our hydration bar greener than a mans skin tone after seeing 2 girls 1 cup. Edited/Added Ideas: Refill: To refill it you could either take it to another waters source like a well or a pond/creek. But I think if the developers are feeling good they could add in the animation to be longer at wells. And maybe when water sickness comes in, if you got it from a well it would take a good 20-30 seconds to fill it up but the water would be purified, where as if you fill it up with a pong or creek the water had to be purified (purification pills). And if you have a camp already set up and your barrels are running low, you could take off the top and let the rain water slowly but surely fill up the keg. Transportation Extra: You could pick up a filled or empty keg and put it in the back of a V3S.You could then drive long distances with a water source in your truck. I believe that after barricading and other items and features are added into the game; the V3S will have the potential to be filled up completely in the back with tools and resources. It would be a green/darker color from the one shown above. Thoughts?

Something of the sort could be added into the game. But it should be really difficult to get the water actually pumping. After you had the pump and the pipe and such, you could jam the pipe in the ground, put the pump on it and see if it works, and if no water comes out you had to rinse and repeat up to 20 to 40 times to actually find a spot with water. Or maybe even a type of giant barrel or keg that you can fill to the top with water and have 1-300 uses? I don't know. Thoughts.

Suggestions to improve Player vs Zombies. Can also improve PvP melee.
therandomredstone replied to St. Jimmy's topic in Suggestions
Fixing zombies and such is all over the 2015 roadmap. Did you ever know that the current zombies and their AI are just placeholders? These zombies are going to be 0% like what the finished zombies will be. This is the 'finsished' zombie traits that have yet to be added in: Investigating: Lights and sounds will draw in zombies to the vicinity but if you are not in plain sight they will be on 'High Alert' until a curtain amount of time has pasted. Looks: Zombies are going to look better; their skins and textures are going to be modified and they are going to be more detailed; you will see their mouth open when they yell, etc. Physicsc: The zombies are going to be more "humanoid". Right now they are like walls that die after hitting them X amount of times. In the future when you hit them, you will see the damage caused. Damage: Right now the damage system is pretty basic, in the future, head hits will almost instandtly kill them. for example you could give them 3 good swings in the head with a crowbar and they will be down. Sounds easy? Nope... Numbers: After the new engine and renderer and EVERYTHING is added into the game. A door will be unlocked to new possibility's. This means more and better zombies, and everything else. You will sneak into electro and see 5 or 6 zombies around every corner. Just dragging around aimlessly until prey comes along. Now, whenever you RUN through a city, you will have 10 to 20 zeds chasing you, instead of the occasional 1 or 2, (3 or 4 if not looted). Fear Factor: With all of these other features for the zombies; the scary face, the investigating, the damage, zombies will be a threat that wont easily be diminished. Even with a firefighters axe. Whenever you are about to enter a city, no matter what you have; AUG and a ghillie suit with a crap ton of ammo. Zombies will be a reasonable foe. To get that good loot from Cherno and electro you will have to use stealth or distractions (which takes survivors to group together) for example you are in a foot long alleyway waiting for this other survivor you found to light and throw a flare from the building he is in to the street. The zombies would then fill with rage and run towards the flare hoping to get a good meaty meal while you take this opportunity to run out of the alley, past the street and into the jailhouse. The current placeholders that can be easily killed with a firefighters axe, will soon turn into full out rage filled creatures, that anybody would hesitate to mess with. -
This is a video of one of my friends playing DayZ and getting used to it and such. He is new to YouTube and DayZ standalone. I'm sure he could use some support. His videos are actually AMAZING for his level of experience. Check this guy out!

Why am I still getting major FPS problems in and out of citys?
therandomredstone replied to Nymphicus's topic in Troubleshooting
The game is in alpha. Its not a finished product. If you would like to play the game, find a way to get a higher FPS or get a new computer. They spend money with optimization and bug fixing and polishing. With new features comes new bugs. So why fix the bugs while you add in features and spend money, When you could have all of the bugs and polishing and stuff done after everything was added into the game? Don't get me wrong, they do fix some bugs. But only the major ones that effect gameplay so much that the game is unplayable. Any small bugs, optimization and the end polishing and such are roadmaps away. -
As I said, he is new to all of this, so he's still learning. But you gotta start somewhere! In the future I see all of his videos being filled with very interesting moments. Give it some time. His videos will be wayy better then they already are. But he's committed. Every single time I've talked to him he is either recording or editing his videos. And the number of videos he has and the time since his first video is pretty impressive. Give it some time.

DayZ and it's Story and Backstory elements
therandomredstone replied to Draco122's topic in Suggestions
DayZ is an unscripted game. That means no NPCs, no dialogue, and no official story. The beauty of this game is that you can make your own story, But you can find out the very basics of the pre-apocalypse and what the Chernarus Defense Force did to try to contain the virus all on the DayZ Wiki. Just type in a simple town like 'chernogorsk DayZ wiki' and just read the entire article. Do this with all major and minor towns and you will learn a little piece of the puzzle from each article. http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Chernarus http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Chernogorsk http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Elektrozavodsk http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Novodmitrovsk Other than the broad background stories found in these links, your story.. is your own. -
If someone will kill you or not is the luck of the draw. If you want to talk to other players, then risk getting killed. Unless you have the upper advantage. I am 14 years old, I always travel the highway with my magnum out. Today I came across two people who were saying "friendly friendly friendly!!" I have seen this all too many times. I pretended not to know their plan. They had no guns but I said "how you guys doing?" with my magnum lowered (but not put away) and they said "good, where ya coming from?" I said "i spawned in chernogorsk and traveled up past electro to here ("here" was about 200 meters west of Kamyshovo . then I said "You guys need anything? food or water?" "dude you look SICK" (as in cool) and I said "yeah well, thanks, it took me awhile to get this stuff." I should've said after that "and im not going to lose it, get your asses lined up and on the ground, NOW" but unfortunately I didn't say that, one asked for water, so I said "can I trust you to drop my canteen once you drink all of it?" he said "yeah, of course" so I dropped my canteen, he drunk it and when I was about to pick it up one of them hit me with his cattle prod. I knew that if he was lucky I would be knocked unconscious, so I ran. While running closer to Kamyshovo I said I treated you guys nice decided to not shoot you and THIS is how you repay me?" he said "you killed us in Chernogorsk" and I said "you are just making up a false excuse for a false justification so you can sleep at night after you had killed me you weak-minded worm!" and I jumped a fence of a house, turned around and while they were jumping the fence I emptied 3 round into each of them. They fall dead. I say "you got what you asked for, you little pricks." and I looked in their inventory and found MY canteen. I said "you have MY canteen.. haha. no you don't, because you're DEAD!" and continued on my way. If I had let my guard truly down and lied to myself that they were friendly like everyone else does. I would be dead. And those pricks would be sharing my loot. Never assume someone is friendly. Everyone is hostile. But that doesn't mean you guys cant have a friendly chat. That's my motto. And it has kept me alive. And if you are dealing with more than one person, try to keep them all in your sight. Because getting hit in the BACK of the head isn't really that fun.

I don't play on a labtop? and I don't get lag?

Gaming is your job. Your job is related to gaming. Gaming is your life. Gaming isn't my job. haha I'm just a 14 year old kid You think that is good? You gonna be shocked when you see what beauty I deal with.. .

So if you were on the first floor with no stairs or anything, you got shot. Bullets can sometimes be slient if you are Desynced. But if you were on the stairs or the second floor, it was a really rare glitch.

You have 4bg ram.. I have 16 RAM. My cpu is a intel core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40GHz. and my graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 645 with 4037MB memory. Your computer could be my computers grandson

So what I was thinking is your character could have some sort of 'robe' on over ALL of his clothes. This would be used to hold in heat let out from the body and break the wind, so it wouldn't be too devastating to wear in mild to hot temperatures. At least it shouldn't overheat you as much as the ghillie suit. So there would be more than one variant of this 'robe/cover'. The first one would be something simple; black or white, the next would be a random color with a design, like the Chernarus flag perhaps, then you would have the camo variants, green, light green, and marshy-black green. Now this should have more uses besides just keeping you cozy, and adding another different way to pursue fashion in the game; lets say you are in a field and you hear gunshots, you stop and are immediately in shock, because you just came out of the woods, and you were there for weeks. You look around while your heartbeat is gradually increasing, then you see a group of 3 fully geared players standing over a dead body with their gun drawn. You panic and drop to the ground, you then realize that you are wearing this camo cape robe thing that goes down all the way to your knees! so you throw that over your body, and those suckers look right past you. These pictures are not perfect examples, this cape thing wouldn't go all the way around your body like it is here, it would 'fold' to one of your shoulders and you just 'grab and yank' and it will cover your entire back. kind of like the cape from assassins creed, except way bigger. Not necessarily your chest region. And since it wouldn't go all the way around you like in the pictures, they would be as low as your knee caps. Thoughts?

I haven't played my regular mode character (the picture) in months now, but hes still here. With his unicorn Mosin wrap, two grenades, magnum, food, water. But its weird. I thought he was decked out but honestly he just has good camo and looks cool. I gotta get a picture of my hardcore mode character. All black, looks boss, Pump shotgun, 1911, magnum, facemask, beanie, black tac shirt, cap vest, black cargo pants, black combat boots with knife= amazing

So many players out for blood :( Can't we be friends? lol (Video)
therandomredstone replied to Shawn P's topic in Gallery
I was the one giving you advice on your video ;) but anyways ill PM you because I am interested in helping you out -
This game is unscripted. You wont ever be seeing military convoys travel across the map. And every single other suggestion has been suggested before. I would divert your time on these forums from making previously stated suggestions, and move to the new player discussion and general discussion. Oh and also recruitment, so you spend more time playing the game, then giving previously stated suggestions. Ahh.. the first post blues.. those were the days...
