Yes, quite so. I wouldn't want to be accused of being a bad influence on our angelic squeakers. They're so impressionable at that age, the little darlings!

I don't see any SteamDB activity, so Eugen is probably just making a few small tweaks. IIRC, they stated that the purpose of this build was to evaluate network performance and I'm sure that they collected some good data over the weekend. Hopefully they can twiddle the knobs a bit and make the servers a wee bit more responsive.

I'm delighted to hear that this simple change helped your experience so dramatically. Cheers!

Using what is seemingly an ubiquitous 1080p monitor (32" TV actually), I confess that I haven't had the need to muck around with the aspect ratio configuration, hence my question(s). I confess that you've raised my curiosity, however, so I'll have a look at the files. It sounds like you have two different issues. The first is overscan, which is a very common problem / feature with TV screens. Sometimes, the TV will have a "Game Input," jack, which defeats the overscan as well as the bulk of the TV's internal signal processing. Because of this, using this input for your computer is generally preferred above all of the other options. Otherwise, overscan can usually be adjusted via the GPU's driver applet, although I have seen exceptions. Although a relatively common TV format, 1600x900 (A.K.A. 900p) is a far less popular choice as a computer monitor. If the game does not yet recognize that 1600x900 is a 16:9 aspect ratio monitor, then please report this via the bug tracker, so that it can be addressed by the devs.

I thought that you were loosing your touch. I am ashamed of myself for jumping to conclusions. Well done! No crashes, or freezes here. Just a bit of lag from time to time, when the server stops paying attention to me. I'm running W8.1. Perhaps your copy of W10 is a contributing factor? BTW - I don't know which mobo you're running, but I saw something on Reddit suggesting that the stock W10 Killer NIC drivers were causing memory leaks. A couple of folks report that updating to the HW mfg's driver solved the problem. YMMV.

I'm going to call a penalty on that play. You can't tease us with a new building interior and then not include a pic, or two.

Good work, thanks for sharing! That terrain information is particularly useful. :beans: In response to criticism about the quantity of ammunition spawning, Hicks had this to say, "Don't get your undergarments in a bunch - We're just trying to get the ammo balance to a level where each round has a value. <3" So, it would seem that marksmanship will quickly become an increasingly important skill. On a related note, discharging firearms in an urban setting, as well as keeping automatic weapons fed, will both become increasingly challenging activities.

Yes, I've found boxes of both .308 and 9mm, so they're definitely in the game, but to your point (which is, I assume) loose ammo seems to be more common than boxed ammo.

On balance, I don't find that giving squeakers the ability to insult everyone at once, rather than individually, has enhanced my enjoyment of the game. The monochrome, blurry screen is an intentional feature, which the devs want us to experience. Also, the rate of blood regeneration was intentionally nerfed a few builds ago, so recovery time is now significantly longer. Therefore, I wouldn't expect these mechanics to change substantially. I would ask, however, that the devs give consideration to the possibility that if the screen is so blurry that we can not differentiate whether we are standing in front of a house, or a tree (or even if we are standing in front of anything at all), then perhaps the degree of blurriness is slightly excessive.

Because, as evidenced by their posts, "the masses" have absolutely no idea what an aspect ratio is, much less, whether they need one, or not. As I said, I'm all about giving advanced users the ability to manually edit the config files in order to resolve problems, or compensate for unusual hardware configurations. Does the game overwrite your edits if you write protect the config file; has the aspect ratio data been completely removed from the file, or does the game just ignore these data? BTW - I'm not sure that I understand this comment, "... I certainly would report it...... If it was a bug." If the game is correctly selecting your aspect ratio, please help us to understand why you are intentionally trying to run a non-standard aspect ratio. What benefit do you derive from this apart from distorted geometry?
-
I expect that they are just trying to make the game configuration easy, by automatically selecting the aspect ratio based on the resolution specified by the end user. Judging by many of the vids and screen shots that I've seen posted here, that's probably a welcome change for a very large number of us, indeed. Still, it's always nice when developer assumptions can be easily overridden by directly editing the the config files. If you've uncovered a bug don't whine, report it at: http://feedback.dayz.com

in all honesty, we are probably going to have to find a new base of operations. Once the Tisy Military Base opens, every KOSing jackwagon in the game is going to be up here looking for a helicopter to fly. Hopefully, we'll have a good selection of booby-traps from which to choose before that base opens, so that we can help everyone to feel welcome.

Don't forget these:

1) Yes, the Czech Republic is world renown for their banana tree plantations and orange groves. :D 2) I would think that when the populace evacuated, they took every vehicle that would start. The only vehicles left are the junkers which require repairs. 3) Who, exactly, is left to operate and perform maintenance on the water & power facilities and infrastructure, the zeds? They aren't exactly known for their work ethic. All they're interested in is lunch! I have enough reality in my life when I'm AFK, so yeah, the devs take some liberties in the name of entertainment. I'm puzzled as to why you should take exception with the above, though.

It commemorates a map boo-boo. There used to be a large grassy mound there. EDIT: You guys are quick, are the servers down?
-
Nope, we all left. There's no one up here any more and nothing to find. You'll be really bored ... all by yourself.

I don't recognize the place anymore! I really dig those green tents, next to the pond.

I was using -newui tonight. I was able to load my Mosin (in my hands) by dragging ammunition from my inventory. Assigning the Mosin (in my hands) to a hotbar slot wouldn't work, though.

I found a banana last night and I LOL. Having fresh fruit in the game makes no logical sense, whatsoever, but these are signature items that need to be there for historical reasons. I am sooooo happy to see them back.

I haven't noticed any differences, but the sky does have a split personality. One minute it looks absolutely brilliant, while the next minute it looks like ass. My problems with the sky are mostly at night. First of all, the diagonal stripes in the upper corners of the screen annoy the hell out of me. Then there are the solid black clouds with blue and purple outlines that look like they escaped from an 8-bit arcade game. Then there is the light to dark banding that really jumps out on a server with accelerated time. In contrast, some of the sunrise and sunsets look absolutely glorious. These issues are obviously nowhere near as important as getting the CLE, character controller, zed AI, renderer and etc. sorted out, but let's hope that the devs get around to showing them some love at some point.

... for science. Thanks! :beans:

No, but I but I picked up a cute little nurse's dress and I thought that we could play doctor later. ;) Unfortunately, it made my ass look fat :(, so I tore it up for bandages.

While I largely agree with you, and I like the direction of the CLE, I am still not happy with the diversity of loot. When a loot item drops below the minimum level, the CLE starts spamming that item in large quantities. Case in point, last night I was finding sweaters and shirts in just about every house. Then it was shirts and protector cases then it was protector cases and .22 pistols. Meanwhile, the deer stands had PU scopes and hunting scopes. Then hunting scopes and heat packs, then heat packs and hunting pants. It's far too predictable. Once you have your hunting scope, you can safely ignore deer stands for an hour, until the CLE starts spamming a new item. Hopefully, once regional control of the CLE is implemented, this will no longer be a problem.
