That vid significantly raised the profile of that "feature." Hicks responded by saying that it was legacy code that was a carry-over from ARMA, He said that they would look into modifying / eliminating this from the game.

Holy f% Batman! I can't say as I've seen it that bad. I think the most I've ever gone between apples is 8-10 times. That would test, even my patience!!!

Moving to a different tree does not seem to provide any benefit. It's not unusual to have 5-6 failures in a row, before getting another apple. I generally squat under the tree, not because it improves my apple-picking odds, but because I want to minimize the target that I present to others.

Agreed. I have the distinct feeling that they are testing / gathering data on this, at the very least. That, or perhaps it's a side effect of accelerated time. Has anyone been paying attention to server time? I generally don't look at the time when I hop off, so I don't know if the elapsed time is still 1:1 on all of these servers. It used to be that once my status indicators were all lime green, it was relatively easy to get the stuffed indicator and that status would linger longer than it currently does. Now, I seem to be drinking a full water bottle every fifteen minutes, or so and I don't ever sprint anywhere. I need to time this, to see if it is just a mis-perception.

We generally don't get a wipe, until I set up a tent. Just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean that the devs aren't screwing with me! >:(

Someone reported that the devs dug an underwater moat around the island, so it's no longer possible to drive there. You'd think that it'd be easier to have the truck's engine stall once it went in the water, but I guess they know best.

When initially starting out, I will generally pick 12-18 apples, depending on how far away the next town is. If I have a pack, or a courier bag, I'll also throw a couple of apples in there, just in case. Yes, it's time consuming, but at the end of the day, starving repeatedly and re-spawning is like masturbation without a happy ending.

You can't. It's that simple. Unless you are incredibly lucky, you MUST rely on apples, berries, fishing, hunting and etc. or you WILL die. If you can't figure out how to make apples and berries work you you, then perhaps you need to dig for worms and give that a try. Bottom line: There is not enough prepackaged food to get you through the initial stages of the game. You MUST find supplements, in order to get your character established. There are no shortcuts.

I don't tend to server hop, either. Back when 0.55 was rolled out to stable, I was having a terrible time finding loot, so I hopped around a bit. What I found was just as you described it. 80-90% of the loot was the same, with just minor variation from server to server. It could be that with the CLE, each server gets the same default loot config at the very beginning and then each server drifts from that starting config as the server gets traffic.

I've found 7.62x39 in stripper clips, 10 rounds at a time, mostly in industrial areas.

The plan is to have the V3S de-spawn once it is damaged to the point that it can not be repaired. Once the V3S population reaches the minimum quantity allowed, the CLE will spawn another one. Since the CLE is in its infancy and since we can not yet effect repairs, I would only be guessing as to what would happen, if you were to wreck one today.

No, with the introduction of the CLE, loot and helicopter spawns are no longer tied to server restarts. Somewhat like tents, helicopters are persistent and spawn on their own individual schedule.

It can be frustrating at times, but look on the bright side; we're finally getting rid of some of the lame place-holder mechanics. This is just a minor inconvenience until the bugs get worked out.

That's a neat trick. I usually don't have loot disappear, until after I interact with it. I submitted the shotgun issue to the bug tracker. They linked it to another crash complaint that was caused by a hoe. So, I guess any bit of loot has the potential to send your game spiraling down in flaming wreckage.

Anything is possible, but they typically roll out a new stable build at the end on the month. EDIT: It's official, they plan to update stable next week: FollowEugen Harton@eugenharton@_dzoanaa_ probably next week and its 0.57 since we skipped one release

I found a small number of shotguns, but they haven't exactly been growing on trees. I had an incident with a double barrel shotgun in Stary Yar. Every time I tried to pick it up, it crashed my game. I'm finding all varieties of ammo, even military chamberings, just about everywhere. But I still haven't seen the 9x39mm, or the 12ga slugs. The only rounds that are truly plentiful seems to be the .308.
