The blood regeneration rate got nerfed, so becoming fully healed takes considerably longer. Also, it is possible to heal, without seeing the "Healing" status.

I'm sure that everyone's code is well commented :), but those comments don't automatically jump into Subversion all by themselves, now do they? On a more serious note, I see a lot of questions in the forum that suggest a basic misunderstanding about how version control software, like Subversion and Git, function. This may not be the best introduction, but additional information can easily be found on the web: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revision_control

Making the switch to W10 will be a no-brainer for gamers. But, since DX12 games are still months and months away, it doesn't make sense to be a crash test dummy for Microsoft. Running alpha/beta games is one thing, but a stable OS is crucial. Unless you have a spare computer, I wouldn't stand in line to be the first to run the latest version of Windows. Personally, I'll give Microsoft a couple of months to get the bugs out, and then I'll load it on a non-critical machine, before I load it onto my primary rig.

Agreed. I expect that there must also be quite a number of new players who repeatedly died from: zeds on the beach, rain/cold, KOS'ers, dehydration/starvation, etc. who quit out of frustration, before "getting the hang" of the game. SP could certainly provide a more controlled environment where they could more successfully grapple with the steep learning curve. Eventually, "graduates" of SP would most likely migrate to SA.

I agree; options are good. More options are better. Having said that, I doubt that there would be much demand for a SP version, if not for the "wizards" and the KOS'ers.

There is no point in discussing automobiles with some people, either. Or, more generally, issues surrounding cause and effect.

Was a good town with little traffic ... until now!

Flashlights are in 0.57 Stable. I found one in Krasnoe. Sorry, I didn't check to see if it had a battery inside.

Fortunately, the devs will be supporting the modding community, so eventually there will no doubt be high loot / PVP oriented servers as well as more modest loot PVE type servers.

Before you reach for your wallet, you may wish to consider giving GIMP a try. There are lots of tutorials on YouTube. http://www.gimp.org

I agree that 0.57 Exp was much more challenging and fun, because loot was relatively scarce. I doubt that the average player would share my enthusiasm for that sort of a struggle, however. Keep in mind that the CLE is still a WIP and it is not functioning as intended. Upon it's introduction, Hicks stated that it would take several months, before it will begin to function as they wish.
-
They are running it on their internal builds. While not intended at this time, Eugen reported that it already provides performance gains. Brian said that it will be introduced to Exp once they have feature parity with the current renderer. Brian also said that if there is something noteworthy to mention, he will, otherwise he does not see the value of repeatedly mentioning that, "We're working on it." Development is ongoing and it will be ready when it is ready.

Many of the things that Peter mentions in his post are still a WIP: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/225481-hermit-playstyle-enchancement/?p=2269500 By the way, if you were referring to this post, I didn't consider it to be hype. Certainly several of us were excited to hear of these plans, but I would rather that the devs communicated their plans from time to time, rather than leaving us in the dark. Barrels provide interesting options, but at least as important to the hermit lifestyle are animals and persistence. If I can't harvest animals, there is no point in having the capability of tanning and dying skins. Without persistence, I don't see the point of setting up camps, pitching tents and collecting barrels, if those items disappear at each server reset. So, it seems to me that it's a bit premature to complaint about barrel spawn rates, until persistence is switched on and the CLE's capabilities are fleshed out. After some thought, it seems to me that barrels shouldn't be particularly plentiful. Unlike ammunition, you really only "need" one per camp, so you shouldn't be able to find them on every street corner. I think that all desirable items, barrels included, should require considerable effort to locate. If you can get fully geared and equipped in only a couple of hours, what will you do for the next four weeks, before there is another patch?

See post #272. http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/225879-stable-branch-057-discussion/?p=2275556 Clearly, it's not sunny on all servers at all times. Having said that, anecdotally at least, the rain seems to have been cut back a bit. If I had to guess, I'd say that it was for the same reason that we have but a few zed and animal spawns ... they take a lot of resources to operate and the platform is already stretched thin.

how to navigate to big cities without signs/compass/map when it is day?
BleedoutBill replied to thomas05's topic in New Player Discussion
Completely lost in the wilderness? Want to find "civilization," so that you can get your bearings? 1) Enable the Steam in-game FPS counter, or equivalent. 2) Very slowly, rotate your character in a complete 360 degree circle. 3) Watch the FPS closely. 4) Head towards the lowest FPS observed. Guaranteed to work day, or night, or your money back! -
I used a leather sewing kit to repair a back pack. It works just fine, as long as you don't try to repair leather items. Makes sense to me ...

Known issue. The status messages are broken. When it changes color, it's ready to eat.

Yes, the people who build games for a living should stop what they are doing, put their work on hold and listen to the demands of a bunch of entitled thirteen-year-olds. Example: A big contributor to low fps in towns is as a result of the lack of proper occlusion culling in the current renderer. Even though the devs are actively writing a new renderer which will completely replace the legacy unit, they should stop what they are doing and add occlusion culling to the existing renderer. Never mind that the current renderer will be discarded and thrown in the trash in a few months and all of that work would be a massive waste of everyone's time, further delaying the completion of the project, the devs should stop what they are doing and work on this ... for the children. Because, the children know best and they need to be able to PVP in Cherno at 60fps on their antique AMD silicon. I'm sorry, but the Bulldozer has no better single core performance for gaming, than the Phenom II (which was released in 2008!) that it replaced. Moore's law marches on and time has not been kind to that design. Even the CEO of AMD recently acknowledged that they have become known for being the "Cheaper Solution" rather than as a technology leader. I've been an AMD fanboy, since I first installed an AMD math co-processor in my i286 machine. But, after all these years, AMD still hasn't given me a compelling reason to upgrade my Phenom II. So, rather than beat my head against the wall and complain about poor performance, I now run Intel hardware. You get what you pay for.

I would expect that in Eastern Europe, high velocity and hyper velocity .22 Rimfire ammo would have to be far more common than .308, 5.56, .357 and .45ACP, combined. Accurately Putting lead on target at 800m with a .22 Rimfire (as reported in the WOBO vid) is a little fanciful. I'm not saying that a .22 round wouldn't travel that far and I'm not saying that it wouldn't be an unpleasant experience if it hit you. But, hitting anything smaller than a barn at that distance would be extremely challenging. .22 may, or may not be a one shot fight stopper, depending on the specifics of the wound, but in the apocalypse, any seemingly minor wound could readily prove to be fatal if infection gets a toehold.

Yeah, you can no longer manually drag something into a piece of clothing in the inventory, but you can double click, or click/take. there is no way to see what is in the piece of clothing, without removing it from the inventory and no way to put the clothing back in inventory, without emptying the pockets. ATM, it's pretty awkward. I expect that this is just a transitional phase.

Bummer, dude! :(

Pouches - Thanks, someone already pointed that out. I haven't seen them for 2 weeks +/-. I did see a plate carrier holster a couple of nights ago. IIRC, it was under one of those small blue/green trailers. I was a freshie at the time, so I had no place to put it.

Unfortunately, some servers don't provide adequate notice of a pending re-start. You just get a "No Message Received" notification and you're kicked.
