In spite of that, they have generated a surprising number of internal testing builds. I have to imagine that we'll see an update to Experimental soon.

IIR, when it was introduced, one of the devs indicated that the barrel could be used to collect rain water. Rain hasn't been a thing until recently, though. Has anyone checked to see if this works yet?

They also said that it would take several months to get it configured properly. There are over 1.7 million possible loot spawn points on the map and many of these are dynamic. At any given time, there are between 19,000 and 45,000 loot items on the map. God (and Eugen) only knows how many possible different loot items there are. These numbers are not trivial, and the CLE is a complex mechanism. Once implemented, however, it will be worth the time and aggravation, due to the fine grain control and ease of management it will provide. Patience!

I positively love to shadow people. Found a couple of camps that way! :D

The servers have been warm lately. It has been many weeks since I "had" to build a fire to keep warm. That being the case, more layers of clothing will cause a character to overheat easily, especially if running. The hotter the character is, the more he/she has to drink.

This hasn't changed, then. From the time that they were introduced, they had a much higher chance of blowing up whomever attempts to deploy them, rather than some poor bastard who happens along. That tendency seems to be inversely proportional to the condition of the mine.

I've never seen any North of the Northern Highway.

I fell out of a deer stand in 0.57, with the same result.

That is one of the things that I liked about State of Decay, which is sadly missing in this game - noise maker based distractions. They had loot items such as: a string of firecrackers, a mechanical alarm clock, a wind up kitchen timer and, etc. These items could be used to cause a distraction for the zeds, so that you could either make a quick egress, lure a group of zeds to their death, or employ other tactics.

When first introduced, land mines were pretty unstable when arming, so I haven't risked trying to disarm one for science. I have unintentionally gotten pretty close to several of them and I have received prompts to arm them. I've never seen a prompt to disarm. Perhaps I've just never had a close encounter with an armed mine? YMMV

EDIT: Also, @Tux - I finally got a pair of walkie talkies together and Biohaze and I tested them out. They seem to work pretty well, for what it's worth. I found a pair earlier, but they along with my single battery were swallowed by a drum. How is the range?

Additionally, Hicks specifically said that he DOES NOT recommend that we play (the game) with it. That being the case, I have little concern that it will be pushed to stable in it's current incarnation. http://twitter.com/Hicks_206/status/619163193110306816

Interesting! I have been rocking a hunters pack. It was damaged when I initially found it and I noticed that my gear was getting damp. I repaired the pack to worn condition and so far my gear has been staying dry. I haven't gone for a swim with it, but so far it has been rain resistant. I couldn't imagine why your gear was getting damp, unless of course, you bag was also damaged. Still ... I wonder what the logic is as to what gets damp first and what does not get damp. Of course this is the first iteration of objects getting damp/wet (apart from clothes) so I wouldn't expect that we are looking at the final product. This is almost certainly a work in progress. Thanks for the feedback! :beans:

Sexy + effective = the complete package I want one!

OMFG!

Drenched status = rapidly cooling off. RAK and loose mag in Drybag were damp while rest was dry. What's the condition of your drybag? Is it damaged?

That looks sweet! You'll have to give us an after action report.

Bummer! I thought only the US had 3rd world Internet.

I didn't realize that they already degrade. I didn't realize that a ruined one would still work, either. You're a regular font of information tonight. Thanks! I'll use a stone knife until I find an opener and then I keep trading up until I ultimately find a pristine one. I've just never seen a pristine one degrade. Once the game is launched (ver 1.0) and frequent wipes become a thing of the past, wear and tear should certainly become a real concern, though. I'm glad to hear that the degradation mechanic is already in place.

More Exp drama on SteamDB!

As a fresh spawn I'm happy to carry a sledge, an ax, or a pick ax. They are all awesome melee weapons. But if I'm going to do some farming, I'll look for a pick ax first. They work fine for farming and they aren't as delicate as a hoe. Honestly, apart from a pick ax, stone knife and a compass, there aren't too many other must-have items, apart from sensible clothing ... and in time, you can make that yourself.

The stick is dead simple and pretty intuitive. Poke your food onto the end of the stick, With the stick in hand, move towards the fire. You'll get a prompt to cook your food over the fire. Nothing to it.

I'm puzzled. I don't see the point in hording can openers. There was a time when I used to carry a spare, but I don't think that I've ever seen their condition degrade, so I abandoned that practice long ago. Of course, I would expect that to change in the future. Backing up a bit, even if they were to become ruined and eventually fail, replacements (and stone knives) are readily available.
