I think it will be interesting. Players will start to hear more gunshots coming from town, as a player desperately tries to escape a rush of zombies. I think it will be harder to remain silent and undetected in a town. I think the mosin players will not have a good time surviving a hoard, while an AKM with 75 round drum would mow them down.

cargo trucks are slower to accelerate, and overall if a server reboots with you in a truck, you will respawn at the last point at which you entered a truck. So consider where you are on foot prior to a server reboot, if you know it's coming. a truck with no wheels has been shot up. If you hit the engine block directly with 10-30 rounds (havent tested it myself precisely) then the vehicle will catch fire and all tires will burn up. You won't be able to get into the vehicle.

How does the loot spawn actually work with persistence?
treetop82 replied to IgnobleBasterd's topic in General Discussion
Servers hopefully won't always restart, that's retarded that they become "bogged down" by being up too long. Makes me think there is a serious memory leak that devs won't fix. -
I don't, but all I'll say is that weapons damage way too easily in .54.. Not only that, but a repair on the weapon shouldn't just take it back to "worn" (maybe add a new category of 'like new'?), if "worn" to "damaged" is a mere 100 rounds.

Umm, what graphics settings do you have, and what video card? Just wondering.

Have you ever run into the only other guy on the server?

Although that house is all by itself, the area is heavily traveled, especially w/ helo hunters. -
Small boost for me, driving through a large city doesn't rip my FPS anymore. Stutters are still there, but less pronounced.
-
I've been driving them since day 1 and have died 0 times, until last night on .54 and I died three times. Something is seriously messed up with them right now.
-
I will keep it civil. All has to do with .54 1. If your client crashes while driving a vehicle, your character may be reset. 2. If you approach a vehicle from the wrong direction, even when it's sitting still, it will kill you. 3. If you get out of a vehicle, you may die. If you love your gear, be very careful with the vehicles right now.
-
Yah but if you piss away all your testers who's going to find all the bugs later?
-
Just happened to me for the first time tonight, it's no joke. Don't approach vehicles from behind.

A (Former) Good Guy at the End of his Patience's Rant
treetop82 replied to TSGN7's topic in General Discussion
I also played the "good guy" for a while, but gave it up after a few months. If you care about your gear, character, etc. you can't be the good guy. The only way I won't KOS another person right now is if I have my gun out and they don't. Given this, I can sleep easy at night knowing there is a 99% chance that the guys I killed would have done the same to me. There is no good way to identify friendly people, because behind that microphone you never know. -
In many online games I played this never really happened. If you met a group of people, and they let you run with them, they didn't just slay you 30 minutes later for no reason. There is definitely a different sickness in the minds of the children playing these days. DayZ allows a higher degree of anonymity as well, with the idea that when you die you are "perma" dead.

You are correct, little progress has been made. But then again, remember that you paid for the game up front. The game developers gave you an IOU. On the other hand, I have logged over 600 hours in this game, much more than I've logged in Battlefield 4 where I paid $80 for that game. So $30 is one hell of a deal in regards to DayZ.

I know the frustration, but let me just explain how I play as a new spawn. a) Get away from the coast fast, you can run 2-3 towns interior sometimes before starving to death. b) There is no loot on the coast because thats where all the spawn points are right now, it's just a fact. c) Zombies aren't really coded well right now, so they are just place holders. As annoying as they are, you can sprint and jump the short fences to get rid of them. Hope that helps, once you get interior you can find food and start to build up your character. If you stay on the coast you are likely to starve and be sniped.

Wasted time because not that many people (I know) would care about that.

Sanity Check - Does ATLAS Bipod exist in 0.53 stable?
treetop82 replied to Jabberwock00606's topic in General Discussion
mp5 is spawning with attachments, killed guy right after wipe who had mp5 and 2 15 round clips for it -
My hierarchy of guns: 1. AKA 101 w/ PSO-1 scope - can snipe with it, can silence it, pretty accurate and powerful 2. M4 - the only useful attachment is the ACOG, others just dont work right, the 60 round clips are awesome 3. AUG - if you can silence this and put it into single fire mode, it's damn near impossible to hear (the shot is like a pistol clicking sound), great for clearing zombies out undetected, terrible for medium/long range combat 4. AKM + 75 round drum - easy to find

I've found 10 or so in my time in DayZ, just found one two days ago. 9/10 have been found on top of the beds in the military barracks. 1/10 was found at a MI-8 helo crash (non smoking one) I've been through a million tents and have never seen one there. They do not spawn in residential anything, the other person must be confusing the PU Scope for the SKS.

When will persistence actually be full fledged
treetop82 replied to domonos's topic in General Discussion
I just have to believe that they are working on other things, persistence shouldn't be giving them this much trouble, unless they are trying to over-complicate it and create more work for themselves. In the mean time I've had a great run at looting whatever I need on a non-persistent server that reboots every 4 hours. Fun for me. -
Anyone able to find them out in the world since Christmas trees are no more? The Wiki pages don't offer any clues to where you might actually find one.

Can we still use Sweet FX in 0.53 [solved] (only latest version)
treetop82 replied to piggycraftingz's topic in General Discussion
And how is that legit? What if I create an "overlay" that turns certain patterns of individuals bright orange, so I can see them from miles and negate any camouflage they have? -
A good sniper with a mosin can headshot you from outside of gunshot audible range and make you die real fast. If you are on a second floor of a building, you can die to the leg breaking (fall through floor) bug.

Look, there is no reasoning to the way they are coding this game. All items should have tags that relate to their functionality, meaning a knife can cut a deer carcass up, any other item they tag with the same code should also have the same functionality. But no, we end up with sledge hammers and lead pipes that can open cans of beans, and a splitting axe that can cut up a raincoat. It doesn't make sense. What bothers me more is the way they are developing items in this game, it seems as they are creating a bunch of future problems for themselves.

0.53 looks like garbage, I hope they their time before releasing it.
