You destroyed it by putting it in your pack without 10 free slots available. We all found out the hard way just as you did. The ansers to your other two questions are No, and NO. Sorry but it's the same for all.

Why I generally avoid servers at night...
Molten replied to Kashus's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The most awesome experience I ever had in Dayz was shitting my pants at every sound I heard whilst playing at night. That though was when I first started playing. Then someone said, "I know, let's make the night so friggin dark that you either need NVG's, or constant flares to do the simplest thing"... I no longer found the experience enjoyable. Which is a bloody shame, as this mod has the potential to scare you shitless. And cause members of the family to run into the room to see why you screamed like a little girl ! The nightime is this mods biggest potential for atmosphere and frights, and that was thrown away for what I can see was no gaming value or benefit at all. -
Dean "Rocket" Hall playing on a password protected server with only a few people!

Only in this community would someone complain that the lead Dev was playing the game. -
is it possible to play more then one character?
Molten replied to Kaneydien's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You need two copies of Arma II CO Edit: can you clarify, are you talking about Dayz or Arma II ? Because my answer was for Dayz -
You forgot to tell him to spam barbedwire first.

Downed choppers too common? Thoughts? (PIC)
Molten replied to phisher34's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Iv'e only ever found 2 but both were in large fields next to a decent road. Obviously 2 finds is not an indication that they are always within view of a road. But maybe some spawn parameters such as X amount of meters away from a Town, and X amount of meters away from a road. If you had to trek on foot to find these spawns it would solve to some extent the road trip spawn searches. What's wrong with having them crash in forests now and then. -

No PK server: * The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen *
Molten replied to Ghandi's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
At least you can get on this server. Although I think it's the balance of both types of play that makes Dayz work and restricting either type of play is lame and ultimately damaging the Mod. The locked ones though are the ones that really piss me off. Not because I can't get on, but because I wonder what the hell they are doing. I suspect farming. I have no proof obviously but there seems to be dozens of servers perma locked. Is there ever a legitimate reason for a server that is locked 24/7 ? -
Just because you didn't see anyone or were being shot at, doesn't someone wasn't there watching you ;)

So many damn veteran servers!?!?
Molten replied to Mr Muggles's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
To op. Server saying regular or veteran etc quite often means nothing. It's the settings they use that counts. A server can say regular and have all the settings like 3rd person, crosshairs etc switched off. So my advice is only use the regular / veteran server name as a guide. Also most regular servers don't have nametags enabled. (thank fek) It's not always what it says on the tin... Additional note: Not all, but a lot of players who play on servers with no corsshairs put a small dot on the monitor screen itself in the position of where the crosshair goes when looking down the iron sights. In effect giving them an advantage. -
A week Playing as a Non-combatant Medic.

Prob' already been said but if you answer a call for help, say a blood transfusion. Make sure they know you are on the way with only that 1 bag of blood and nothing else at all on you. At least then your not a walking loot bag. Find a decent stash for your gear when going on a call. Maybe take binoculars if you take anything so you recon before you go in. No matter what precautions you take your gonna die, A LOT ! Best of luck to you and look forward to hear how things turned out. -
OMG Y AM U A BANDIT??? tactical breathing, stress, condition grey and verisimilitude
Molten replied to not interested's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just another point. Don't confuse survivors with carebears. Most of us will cut your nuts off with a hatchet in a heartbeat if your a direct threat. But we take tactical decisions seriously. And the first rule of surviving is avoid conflict if possible. You could get a nasty graze or a cut. Most of time we are watching you. As we recon areas before moving in. If we choose to do so we could shoot first and end your day but it's not the game we play. This game needs both players. As the hunter needs a rabbit. Who is the hunter and who is the rabbit is a matter of perspective. -
Not shooting on sight is ok. Not shooting him when he began to follow you with no comunication was where you went wrong. Sorry you got shot in the back by a coward though.

Would a hug help ?

OMG Y AM U A BANDIT??? tactical breathing, stress, condition grey and verisimilitude
Molten replied to not interested's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Bandits are an environmental hazard, like radiation. You don't defeat them, you manage them. Taking tactical decisions, rather than just pulling the trigger everytime is what keeps my heart pounding time and time again. That's why I only shoot in self defence. -
I had the same issue with shift, being able to use it at first to change my speed and then it suddenly stops working. For me I found out that for some reason it was linked to switching between first and third player view using enter. Next time it happens just try and switch views and back again. See if it works for you. Chances are it wont though as this is a very bizzare thing. Notes: using windows 7 64 bit and G15 keyboard.

For the love of Zed. Please look into the brittle bones. I have put up with it as we all must in an alpha. Apart from Zeds hitting you from the flat downstairs and breaking your bones, and getting a fracture when crawling through a door they seem to break by just moving the landscape at times such as dearstand ladders etc. But I just loged in, (in a safe place) with no damage, in good health. I stood up from the crouching position and my leg broke lol. I kid you not ! It has to make sense to buff bones a bit until the time when these bugs are ironed out... There are bugs we understand that. But it doesn't take much of workaround so people can play. Please take pity and include something in the next hotfix. Kind regards, A fan.

This is why we need the logoffski fixed. People like this who think that loging of when the fight isn't going your way is "outplaying" someone. *sigh As said though there are other posts about this and Rocket will get around to fixing it. Many options are on the table such as log of timers etc.

The one and only Anti-PVP/PvP Discussion thread! Whine/discuss here!
Molten replied to Legacy (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Without PVP this game would not be as good as it is. But sadly it seems most people get given the best game in years and the most imaginative thing they can come up with is "let's play counterstrike". Nothing wrong in being a bandit if that's how you want to play. But without other peoples game style as well in the mix the game will eventually die. Just the same that without bandits in game being a survivor would mean nothing, and this would just be a role play gatherer game. Knowing you can be shot by someone gives the game real tension. Without it it would be boring. But pretty soon I can see me getting bored because that tension is only there at the moment because of the fact I don't shoot people on sight, and the situation that then arises of meeting survivors anywhere on the map is what makes my heart pump. If I ran around with the mindset of shoot everyone and anyone I assure you my blood pressure would never rise a blip. I would feel about the same amount of tension as playing BF3 or any of the other cookie cutter FPS games out there. I really hope this game does not lose this tension as at times my heart is pounding and there are very few games out there that cause this reaction. Loosing everything upon death adds to this as well. Short version: if this game turns into 100% deathmatch the most awesome part of this game will be lost forever which is the tension. Some balance is needed to avoid this amazing game loosing it's soul. PS: why the hell is this in "Important threads" section anyway ? -
I found x2 ATV's in the same place. Sadly both needed a wheel. But that was the first time in 4 weeks I found anything. I went in search of wheels, found some, and was shot by a sniper on my way back lol. Such is life. I love that things like this are so rare, as it makes finding them a joy. What I don't like is most of the stuff like this once found is then stored of the map proper in the desserts. Pls don't say "well anyone could find it off map". You'd have to be a moron to think that is an intended mechanic. Not blaming anyone for using it. Just don't say that's how the map is supposed to be. Anyway. Cool story. And the moral ? Never use your mobile when driving haha.

The one I was on just crashed. Now any I get on the admins say they can't restart.
