And DayZ isn't the only game that does need this change. Arma 3 needs it even more and there have been couple nice examples in Bohemia forums how it could be done but I haven't seen devs to response on those. I really hope they can solve the camouflage in distance in Arma 3 so they can port it in DayZ or other way around.

That's how it is in Arma. I can't hit with .45 or any other pistol well over 50m.

Yeah you can't really yet tell is it the volumetric clouds or the overall brightness that does that shady overlook. But I see a little brighter spot in that 'tent screenshot' that gives good hopes. /Btw. I hope Rocket has fixed that ATOC so it doesn't mess with markets shells because you can see through them with that.

I can see that ATOC is off and view distance is smaller in that Arma 2 picture. Not sure about the rest. Here's a gif on those first two comparsion picture. I think it is just bit too dark but it is so much better than in Arma 2.

Just pray that someone ports DayZ in Fallujah if it already hasn't been done. It is an urban desert map.

That doesn't mean they can't improve lighting or night time. /Oh and: So we maybe can see some improvements already today.

According to this thread the only original video game is the first video game and all the other are just copies. Well I'm saying that video game is original if it has given something so new to the genre that it really doesn't fit in that genre anymore and that's what DayZ is. It's way more than a zombie shooter, it's survival against the environment in a open world sandbox which just have zombies.

Sorry but I have to ask this again because almost everyone (even some devs) say there will be closed BETA test. Is it really now BETA and not ALPHA? It's very confusing that so many talk about beta but I haven't heard anything that DayZ has moved from alpha to beta. -

Hmm giving every character a random unique phone number that you can share who every you want doesn't sound that bad idea. So basically randoms won't contact you if you don't give them your number. There might be some issues if someone is phoning at the same time to you but still have some beans because I've never thought this. Although I agree that phones might not suit in apocalypse but still a nice idea.

Awesome idea to let the community to decide what got higher priorities in standalone. So many good ideas so the own top 5 was hard to decide. A "shout" channel Animations that deal with status effects, vomiting, sneezing etc. Batteries for all electrical items Less ammo and less powerful guns Players can throw items while walking/running

I love nights! All the best experiences have happened in the night, like killing NVG, A50, L85 AWS fully geared guy with M14 only in a 20min battle. Just like many have said the flashlight needs to be more steady when jogging and same as it is now in full sprint.

Ummmm game will be released as alpha. Alpha and hardly any bugs in the same sentence don't mix very well. And what comes to Arma 2 it's worth it. Finding good communities/servers and mods is the key. Knowing good community and you can get in over 100 players organized PVP or big CoOp matches and those are things that you can't experience so well in any other game.

0:00-1:15 it's (cloudy) full moon on the video and then it's without full moon from that point onwards. I agree on that brightness changing, it's so annoying. In Arma 2 when the sun is set down there is this über pitch black 2-3h that's the biggest problem because you really can't see anything but after that the brightness goes up to this or bit lower if not clear sky: It is bright but man just black/white is ugly :D I'm really hoping that we can see Arma 3 lighting in DayZ because the difference and improvement is so big if you compare it to Arma 2. -

I don't know what videos you have watched but it is improved. Do you know how dark it really gets in countryside when there's no light source nearby? -

Those delicious Beanz :( I almost bought those today in the supermarket. Well I was pretty sure that we won't see any of these in the standalone but beanz are almost the icon of the DayZ -
You can count aprox. how many bullets you have shot and I believe that you can test how heavy your magazine is in the standalone just like in ACE mod or count them if needed, you can see your weapon on your hands better with alt and you can watch the full name in the gear menu, you can guess your health about the color of your screen. I'm sure there will be some kind of text on your screen for a couple of seconds when you get hungry, you're bleeding etc. and then you also will see/hear some nice effects if the HUD is removed completely. //Ok have to say that we need either different key for grenades etc. or character should take those in hands if equipped because you can't tell if you have them equipped in Arma. That's where you are right in that you should see what weapon you have on.
