Yep. If Dean delivers DayZ wihout zombies then we would have those eggs only. He would probably then want us taste those eggs and say what we should do differently to get them as greasy as possible. Then he delivers the plate with new eggs and that secret bacon and then we can say again how the bacon and eggs tasted this time. Or alpha testing isn't that you go eat your stomach full in 5 star restaurant. You go in 1 star restaurant to taste different things and give feedback how to make the place 5 star restaurant. This is just if Rocket wants to test things this way.

Zombies are one part of the core feature. The core feature is to survive against the environment. Though DayZ has been long now survive against other persons because the environment isn't yet hard enough. If DayZ will go pure PvP like the mod then we can just blame that Rocket that he didn't push the difficulty far enough.

Then it probably needs a lot of work and I wouldn't have any high hopes except if Rocket suddenly says they're hiring someone to do it or way after the launch if they're sure they can get enough money out of it.

What SteamOS is? Everything is based on Windows and DirectX so how SteamOS handles those?

This. They might despawn some things at some point to give variety in the loot but 10 mins might be too short except if they're starting to change loot in the server(s). -

View distance settings seems to be like in Arma 3/ToH so you can put object draw distance at the same level as view distance. In Arma 2 they're tied together so trees don't draw in the fog. Looking very nice. -

Well releasing without zombies would scare a lot of people out from early alpha :D I would probably buy it though if they just say what we need to test. -

Yep I forgot to mention is too quick animations. Engine can't handle Usain Bolt speed running zombies especially inside. Decreasing the speed would help and the AI maybe could even think bit more ahead. This would also mean that they need to implement stamina system for the players so we can't run forever away from slower zombies. What you're saying about the attack you're right. The new AI what rocket is suggesting doesn't solve that so they need to still solve it somehow. Smooth transitions is bit of a problem in RV. They really need to think about the animation and speed so the zombies even look decent. -

I guess Rocket underestimated the zombies badly and now he really saw that they just can't work well enough with Arma AI. There's too much line of sight involved and maybe some other stuff that isn't really needed and confuse the AI to get lost when they chase you. I wrote something about this some time ago but I'll say it again. The current or Arma AI relies too much on LoS to being effective and not look stupid (getting stucked or lost) in a zombie game. -

Well I'm happy that they're making the AI again because it always looked like there's still Arma AI left that might not work that well. I'm still hoping that he dumps that jump attack because it won't ever work in RV engine. I wonder that did they broke the AI completely at some point when scrapping the engine because it wasn't working at all in E3? That video was improvement but the AI could still get lost. I hope they'll not rely so much on line of sight this time when they're chasing. -

Rocket thought first that the modified Arma AI is good enough. Now that they've seen that current AI just don't work they'll do new AI. -

Well then that place is getting nice overhaul. I didn't take into account that the screenshot is probably taken bit above so the ground shape doesn't look exactly the same when you're on foot on that spot. Nice! -

Well it will be pretty rare you to be above the ground in standalone I guess. AtoC does something to this but it isn't forced in A2 because people complained about the performance. Sounds cool but I'm not sure about the performance.
