We are all wasting our time in this forum :-(
St. Jimmy replied to Wayze's topic in General Discussion
I have to agree with Wayze even though I know mods are very close wit devs. It's just wrong that this happens in official forums and not for example in reddit. Reddit feels like the official forum sadly. I don't know what the devs are afraid here more than in the reddit.y -
Would you like "high grade stuff" be spread more around the map?
St. Jimmy posted a topic in General Discussion
Currently we have the same problem as in the mod that the high grade stuff can be only found or are way too common in places like airfields, military barracks, piano house and fire/police station. This makes those places too centralized and makes the world feel small because there are those keen places that you can be sure you find all the things you need and you ignore other places because of that until you try find food. Many people just run from airfield/military base to another and a lot of nice places are ignored. What if basically every house have a small chance to spawn some goodies and military base spawns would be lowered? Maybe the apocalypse has been there for some time and weapons etc. are more spread our everywhere. I'll edit poll here if I can. -
Do Zombies Dream Of A Good Nights Sleep? (Zombie feedback)
St. Jimmy replied to SmashT's topic in General Discussion
I'll repeat myself after many weeks. Bring back the slower zombies. The engine simply can't handle them with that speed no matter what you do. Slower zombies and quick animations when they hit you when they're closer would sound better to me. Slower us players down and don't make the zombies look stupid and glitchy because increasing their speed just doesn't work in a way it would look authentic. -
I agree that sounds should be improved but this doesn't sound right to me. If you don't really focus on windows it's hard to see people. I don't see how anyone could stand out from there.

The gas station can explode multiple times for an hour maybe. Could be even more.

Would you like "high grade stuff" be spread more around the map?
St. Jimmy replied to St. Jimmy's topic in General Discussion
This is what I also hope and it would require some change in the map. IMO too many bases spread around. One or two would be enough then spread some "high grade stuff" like guns and mags in normal houses. There must be some hunters or weapon addicts in Chernarus that have guns in their home :) -
Would you like "high grade stuff" be spread more around the map?
St. Jimmy replied to St. Jimmy's topic in General Discussion
Yeah I believe that but I still afraid that they go the same way as in the mod and like it currently is in standalone that high grade stuff spawn only in those places and there's 0% chance to find anything cool from a carage for example. -
I wish we were forced to interact with others to survive...
St. Jimmy replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Yeah right... Have you heard my suggestion about if there would be for example 4 public hives that the servers are connected and if you die in one of them you can't play in the servers that are connected to the hive you died for day or two? How do you like that combined what I suggested? :D Numbers naturally can be tweaked. I don't mind if I can't play for a while and DayZ has a chance to be pretty hardcore game.Oh and more about the topic. I really can't wait for realistic fatigue and carrying system. Goodbye carrying backpack, vest, trousers and jacket with full of stuff, a weapon in your hand and then trying to even carry a wheel with you. If the game would be really hardcore how much you can run and how much stuff you can carry with you, I believe people will co-operate more. Carrying engine and three tires to repair a car would require a ton of co-operating because zombies would catch you easily when you carry heavy stuff. If you want to carry a lot of stuff you would better have some good backup friends. -

And precisely DayZ isn't really a sandbox. And this is what DayZ Steam page says: It's just an open world survival game. -

St. Jimmy replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
It's punishing because if people would really do that in the rate what is happening now there wouldn't be people left in the world. It's very logical. It wouldn't still take out killing so sandbox remains. -
This. This is one of the reasons why I want my country to leave EU. I can see one day that the same will happen in EU because of Germany. There are so many stupid standards coming from the EU and it will only get worse.

When the game makes me to survive against environment and zombies and not those bored KoSers then I'm happy. Environment and zombies need to be hard enough, then we can focus on KoS. Killing could be discouraged with high penalty for example if you've killed 3 people in 1 death you would be banned for 2 days when you die next. Some people say this would take out the sandbox, I say it won't because you could still kill as much as you like. You still have a choice to do what you want just take the consequences. Just like in Elder Scroll games for example, if you murder someone you'll be chased by guards and put in the jail if they catch you. If you're clever and avoid those guards from that point onward you could live pretty freely. You have the choice to do that but it might not be the most rewarding way. -
I think two airfields need to be removed from the game completely. They are good for Arma but don't fit DayZ.

Time to chop down every tree in Chernarus B)
-
I've been wondering the same. Summer Chernarus would be awesome.
-
If the zombies would be slower like some patch ago then headshot or many body shots could be a nice addition but body shots should slow them down.
-
Chainsaw coming?
-
Seems like that those are showing in first person when you're aiming. That should be removed.

Things have really changed. We almost got an alien sim :D

Experimental Branch saw many changes in 0.44
St. Jimmy replied to SmashT's topic in News & Announcements
We don't know has the apocalypse started only a week ago. -
You could run out of RAM. Facebook, Steam and game open and that's likely it. 3,5GB RAM usage could be enough for those drops.
-
It doesn't need to be compass directions. The wind could be said with clock directions. So when you want to check the wind direction you could get a message "...Wind blows from 4 o'clock..." and the direction is taken where you're currently looking. Just like the spotting is done in Arma.
-
Haven't bothered me at all. I do something else in that time.

Well sounds like you want to wait for another 6 months for a patch so better opt out now and come back later. They don't polish things too much because they will be broken again later so it's a waste of time. -
This plus the optimization & renderer news from the devblog :o Great news! :beans: :beans:
