Actually that tent idea wouldn't be bad if you develop the idea further. What about the tent stays unless you log out inside it. So if you go for a trip and you don't have time to get back to your tent you risk that someone finds it when you're not in game. So there's a little reward if you log out in your tent because you don't have to worry about what happens to your stuff then because it only appears back when you log back. -

Poll - Why aren't people playing hardcore mode

3rd person ruins the immersion for me. If a game is authentic it isn't enough if the immersion is ruined. -
The COMPLETE PvP Map of Chernarus

Much research, so wow, 10/10. -
When did they make DayZ look so awful?
St. Jimmy replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Well there are many other graphic options that are broken/not working. They're not high priority now. I also want graphic options just like in Arma 3 but that won't happen soon. -

St. Jimmy replied to Grimey Rick's topic in General Discussion
Yep. Only thing it does is it just sharpens the image so you see them even better. -
Haha that's very well said  :beans:

remove magazine selection from Action UI, implement smart reloading

This. Action menu must die! -
Hmm I don't have problems using full version of the forums with my mobile. Only real problem has been that I can't make polls.

I have to add that at least with iron sights if you focus too long to the same point you lose the focus. I've to watch somewhere else and start looking again through the sights. That last pic is too much IMO and I'm not sure about that third one either. But some smooth progressive zoom could be cool thing to try.

What are good game mechanics/ features from other games that work in dayz ?
St. Jimmy replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Already on the to do list but still: 1)Action system just like in every game. In other games there's no way you'll accidentally eat rotten apple when you try to open a door... Then what almost every zombie game has: 2)Slowing down for some seconds after getting hit. This can make one zombie deadly because when it hits you other zombies can also catch you and suddenly you've horde around you that you've to fight or die. Fleeing from the middle of a zombies would be impossible. -
DayZ is far more optimized than you think tbh...
St. Jimmy replied to Esccapee's topic in General Discussion
DayZ is optimized in a way that if nothing happens near you you get a nice performance. In Arma if there's too much action on the other side of the map you get poor performance. The server still kills he performance and I thought the new server architecture would already prevent that but it seems to be that there's much more to do. Big town fps for me can go around 20-25fps. But the game still looks bit smoother with low fps than in the mod. I'm not sure do I imagine that smoothness. -
Do you need tents or do you just want persistent storage? That can be done also with backpacks, fridges etc.
-
Yep if you get good position the motion is mostly vertical and follows your breath. More horizontal sway at first could simulate that you try to get the good position and steady your aim. At least for me it takes some seconds to get the steady shooting stance and after that the sway is more vertical for me.
-
I've done that but I've shot prone only then. I've think more of that sway and that's pretty good for fatigued and no weapon rest sway. Would be nice to see how much time it takes to settle down and how much you can try to counter the sway with mouse. I'll see that next Friday at the latest when I'm back home.
-
Looking good. Bit less sway could be better but that's not bad really. When I can test how much you can counter that sway wih your mouse then I'm more sure about it. When stamina and weight systems comes in the Chernarus will show its true size. This is how persistent objects and vehicles also becomes really handy because you don't want to keep all the stuff with you always.

[Official] Stable Hardcore Servers.. why so few?
St. Jimmy replied to Irish.'s topic in General Discussion
I play exp only so I'm happy. -
OK so you've only some integratded GPU like Intel 4000? Well you're lucky to even get 20fps lol.
-
I've read that there's -high parameter to set the game in high priority. I don't know does it really do that or where that parameter even comes but I've read it in many guides.Freddie your Vram parameter is set only to 32MB and that's very low.

Strange alarm next to Svetlojarsk (Guba)

Seems like this is back. Heard it today in Experimental DE-02 and I was in Dubrovka. Some music also started along with it after a while. -
Six Upcoming Developments That Will Change DayZ for the Better - Gamespot Article
St. Jimmy replied to gibonez's topic in General Discussion
Things could be even more simple. Just watch an object and press action button and it happens. If you're 5cm too far away to do that then simply NOTHING won't happen. The action menu has a huge risk that you'll do something else that you didn't want to but there are ways to get over that because pretty much every game can do that and it's possible in DayZ or Arma. Just look Sakura Chan's Keys no action menu mod for Arma 3 videos because in those videos your mind will be blown how simple and no errors possible DayZ or Arma playing could be. Combine that with ACE style interaction menus and everything would be perfect.Designers don't even need to watch much other games to think how they could get around some actions when these things have been concepted well in Arma mods and forum discussion even. At least the inventory interaction and weapon/item switching they've already come around... -
Even Arma doesn't have flashbangs wtf. Though I got to wonder what you do with a flashy in a zombie game when zombies probably don't even care about the flash.
