Is it time to come back?

The game has improved, but I'd say wait for Christmas ..

Why DayZ is no survival game

Its not hate. I love RPG, agree with everything the OP said and I like your ideas. BUT that is all true for SP, I don't do typical MMOs. Its just too much time investment and I don't want the game to be geared with lvl99 in fishing in mind...

Will the Beta version cost anything?

I can do better than that, the process is sometimes necessary. It provide the developers job security, a promotion and community building tool and early cash influx. In turn give the community updates on development, some metrics in terms of feedback and bug testing, and in some cases (kicksters) we get certain trinkets. However, overall with exception of really "hardcore" player, for 99% of consumers this process is not an improvement, on the contrary. Also for me personally, it is a major annoyance, since all the kickster/early-access my favorite magazine is spammed with endless projects, begging for my money. If its not ready I don't want to read about it, bottom line I am gamer not an investor. Show me the MONEY GAME! I didn't suggest that they are used as full QA testers. However, they are subject to extreme conditions that impact their experience to test your mechanics, and due to the nature of WIP they encounter many bugs that impact their gameplay, and will be meat by angry hardcores if they do anything but orderly submit a bug report ;) I agree that its a matter of choice, but consider the effect of placing a candy\soda machine in room full of bored people, even if it has big warning stickers that its not good for them.. Also you are wrong, I LOVE the concept. While I think its not good for people involved, the end result is great for me.. Just like with DLCs, I usually wait and get the FINISHED(after release fixes included) complete game i.e. more for less. (early adopters are always suckers for their fancies)

Will the Beta version cost anything?

Honestly, its worse... I know that many get their panties in a bunch over day one DLCs and pre-orders, but overall most of those are token items, that don't effect their experience what so ever and usually are supplemented within weeks with far better Mods, also down the road those who are patient are going to end up getting more for less cost. As for early access, despite initial lower cost and being seen as the prelude to gaming Renaissance  by some "hardcore" gamers who want to feel like they are part of the process. Early access is the worse thing that can a happen from the consumer stand point. It is basically a long term investment, without any guaranty for quality or that end product will be anything like what you thought sale pitch made it to be. With many people ending up trying(working as free testers) the game, ruining their first experience with sub par, bug riddled, unfinished game. Even if they come back to it in two years time when its finished (and still excited about the concept and there are no better games) they aren't going to enjoy it as they already wasted their first. So basically you pay less but you get much less..

We need a Hardcore (aka Survival) Mode

I think its a good idea for a mode mod.

    Item condition?

Couple of questions concerning Item condition. 1. How item condition affects the various items(weapons\attachments\vests\tools) besides changing their look e.g. does weapons loose accuracy? 2. How item condition can be degraded except being damaged in combat e.g. I know shoes suppose to wear out with use, what about cloth, or does weapons affected by firing them?

    Item condition?

    What about damage reduction?

    Repairing items and clothing

Is this intended behavior or a "bug" due to WIP status.
  9. DirectX 11 will help them make the game prettier, and might help profrmance wise to those with strong GPUs, but overall people who struggling right now on low shouldn't except any improvement from this, on the contrary.

    Emotions-Possible KOS Deterrent

-1 an extreme variant on the morality system idea.

Clothing Pockets (Separate the inventory slots!)

Indeed. I am not sure what the devs are planing, but the top UI initial sketch didn't impressed me at all.

    Less Military. More Apocalyptic. (Clothing)

We already have a nice verity of clothing in different conditions, with more coming and great suggestions here, but ultimately even if you stack up a full romantic apocalyptic wardrobe, how people end up looking is greatly depends on how people play. Because Min/Max-ers will always end up in military gear..

    Server specific characters?

That is your best solution, but making it "one or two servers" is a bit arbitrary... You need to remember that the majority of people are not loot farming and have legitimate reasons to switch servers and something like this may become a a huge nuisance to them, making the cure worse than the disease. Some of those reasons include a friend coming online on a different server, pop maxed or low servers, annoying 9 year olds, low ping (e.g. in peak hours due to playing overboard servers) and related issues, glitched server or testing\bugs (like with current persistence) etc...

Eating and drinking system - Please, just give it up.

I hate when that brought up. People only need to exercise if they can't shut their pie hole.
  15. Mor (DayZ)

    Server specific characters?

No the problem is that you can't differentiate between someone who is server hopping, and someone having connection issues, looking for a better server(people, setting etc), or got invited somewhere.

    Your fetish item

^ Does that mean I can't bring up my pink dildo bat?
  17. Mor (DayZ)

    Server specific characters?

in fallout online, you cold shovel shit for money... I guess it beats being a hands on fluffer for a living :)
  18. Mor (DayZ)

    Server specific characters?

Isn't that the whole point? their rules aren't there to make everyone happy, but to facilitate a gaming experience that they and like minded people enjoy.

Cross server Bandit and Survivor camps suggestion

    Sounds like team fortress ;)
  20. *Sighs* We can grow tomatoes, that normally take to grow few month, in ten minutes(easier), our bodily function set in hyper drive(harder), and there are 3rd POV and 24/7 days servers.. So when you guys realize that game decisions aren't about making the game easier, harder or realistic, its about which mechanic offers and balance, with end goal improving our experience. The argument for side chat is that we don't want to make communication harder then it is, to avoid driving social people to seek other solution. Because isn't that and KoS one of the most common things you guys keep ranting about. The only argument against it was noted by TheWizard14 and gone unnoticed. I agree, but I doubt that will happen. Not because it is unrealistic, but because but hurt people who die tend ruin the game for others. By requiring you find a radio, it would add a reasonable safety until you can go up. Although IMO the requirement to find batteries seem unnecessary anal, if it needs batteries it should spawn with a set. Also a radio should have several channels so you would be able to share map markers with specific people, not everyone. If used right it could be very exciting.

    Endless running - stamina/fatigue?

Very good post. I can offer several disadvantages, but overall this right here ^ would probably be the underlying reason for most of it.
  22. No one said it was possible. But surely you realize there is huge difference between: adding a basic minimize(turn off) and mute options and turning it an item, that take inventory space and require a battery.. The former is matter of moderation the later make it harder to use, giving social people even less reason to use it..

Clothing Pockets (Separate the inventory slots!)

I recently seen a similar concept for the inventory: http://kolinsue.com/projects/dayz-inventory/community-release-en
  24. Basically same knife, that just take a little less space... How about a knife(or anything with a blade) holster, it would address the same thing (less space) and be more useful for many people. something like this (quick google image) http://www.jayfisher.com/_borders/SheathExtender10.jpg
  25. @pilgrim, Wow, just wow... I wonder how can you see, when sun never shine where you head at. I was going by several factors (1) people keep bring up communication issues here and other threads (2) Currently in game communication is underused, mostly because it easier and more beneficial to use external programs. Hence when looking over your suggestion I noted that (1) your suggestion will make communication even harder. Which IMO isn't or shouldn't be the devs goal, the vast majority prefer communication over realism. (2) your suggestion to switch to one channel, would remove the only advantage there is for in-game communication. (3) your suggestion to make it text only, will punish everyone who use voice, just because you can't handle the mute. As for your reply: cute, but TS is just a convenient way of keeping track of fun people you meet, and want to keep playing with.. and while I generally don't play with mutes, using TS doesn't preclude anyone from communicating in game.. As for this and the rest of your post, I have no idea what you are talking about. You just went off the rail ranting about things that are tangibly related to what I said.
