Not everyone is a server hopper.. and globally restriction change the fact that you might have to be, because "end game" items may not spawn on the server you choose or has been taken by some server hopper. Indeed hashtag the big heli hunt...
-
To be honest, the way he explained seemed pretty straightforward i.e. Some items will be restricted globally, hence you may have to server hop to acquire them. In his example if you learn about a server with a working heli, you'll want to jump in, take it down and strip it apart. which will be your best bet to find those parts.

Would you like to see a snow zone and a radiation zone?
Mor (DayZ) replied to HEV's topic in Suggestions
I like the idea of seasonal weather, but I don't see myself playing in extreme weather condition on regular basis. Because someone confused DayZ with stalker.. -
Considering the previous tests (like the extreme cold) what is the chance the devs intentionally turned it off, so we would test alternative water source, such as the various ponds spread around, collecting rain etc.

So you suggesting that those are evil honey traps :)

It is already mentioned on the known issues list on the mainpage.

Indeed on his skill, although i am not certain that his opponents didn't know what they were doing. IMO not all the opponents were on the same team, and some of them were on the opposite side of the hill. So while the first group might have been a bit careless or missed him in the cover of vegetation. Even "PRO" players can get disorientated in the first moments, and if there were more than one team and they were caught in the middle, it would have made a very confusing situation even worse.

^ this is exactly what i have been thinking of when I wrote that post :)

That is my conclusion as well. Many guns are balanced against each other to be useful in different situations.

I don't know what facial customization options are in the work, if any. (I see a lot of excitment over the idea of beards) However, I do know that you don't want to spraypaint --intended for metal\wood-- on your face. Anyway, while you might not be able to have a war face, you can always go for good war cry ;)

I miss the global text chat channel that was in the MOD
Mor (DayZ) replied to bluesydave's topic in General Discussion
The radio is already in the game and it does all what you want and more, so if you want to remove its voice chat capability and reduce its channels its called limiting... As for the devs sentiments, yes they were made clear on the first page. But as the thread title and many post suggest, not everyone agree with it. Just because the devs don't want it doesn't mean that it wont find its way to some servers, hence my interest in this thread to look at possible solutions. As for your suggestion, the problem is that it not a good solution. It is a half assed measure, that is not here nor there, it removes games features, it wont bring people who moved away to other means, and modeled after realism as it is it doesn't address basic moderation needs i.e. it will not allow you to mute other people, so if your favorite cod kid decide to spam your conversation(whether its voice or text) there will be nothing you could do about it, except leave. So bottom line is that even though radio is currently disabled, what the devs already have is better than what you suggest. (alas IMO it is still not sufficient) -
There isn't too much loot at all.....
Mor (DayZ) replied to smatdude13's topic in General Discussion
It depends on how he got it. I assume that such fortune can be gained fairly quickly by server hopping,no? Ammunition boxes are unwieldy, but overall only weigh around 5kg, if you can fit it into your backpack there should be no problem carrying it around. (in fact it should be far easier to carry it in a good backpack then in your hands) -
:) no, I wouldn't go as far as that. I think that they are making very good progress. It is just that usually journey sounds far more exciting after the fact, when you got the fruits of the labor to play with..

Mor (DayZ) replied to bluesydave's topic in General Discussion
In that case I am happy that you think that global chat is better then your idea for the radio.. and as for your final remark, it would have been funnier if everyone on the internet was a native English speaker.. No just a typo, but that topic seem to be a cause of constant buthurt to you, as evident by your weird references and spontaneous righteous rants. So please keep to the topic at hand. So far the only person who suggested to limited others options is you i.e. make radio --which is voice and text based-- into text only. As explained your arguments doesn't makes sense as they will not have the desired effect, only nerfing realistic gameplay aspects from the radio for your personal connivance. -

1. There is nothing more simple then to add a minimize button to a side chat, hence you'll be able to turn it "on\off". So from now and on, lets assume that no one will ever force you to unwillingly participate in chat. 2. The great thing about chat, is that its not realistic and you should be able to mute anyone who abuse it. This isn't the case with radio, you have no control over who you can listen to, so if you having a lovely conversation and some troll decide to ruin it, there is nothing you can do except end it. 3. Depending on where and who you play with, it some times nice to always be able to chat, it passes the time during slow periods, especially after you got killed. 4. One of the more exciting things about radios is that they use voice. So people who use them can be overheard, or they can be used to lure\ambush someone into a position. Really? because it sound like you do.. all this talk about TS culture, school clans, gaming stations(consuls I presume?), sexy sculls?! etc It seems that you think its COD console kiddies thing. Just because you are not uncomfortable using voice chat doesn't mean others don't.. -
^ sounds like a promotion flyer... Simply put, atm there are better environments\settings to roleplay in..

Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
Mor (DayZ) replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
Please  at some point religion tried to say something simliar about people the "pious" vs "sinner" but its nothing but BS. What is hacking if not trying to get unfair advantage... Every Bambi says he find the game to difficult, is screamed at by hardcores to go online and educate themselves. Which is what pretty much every player does, they use online resources such as map, guides, apps etc. They use external maps on steam overlay or thier cellphone find their way around and find others ; find water pumps, and good items (spawn locations + plus server hopping to increase their chance to find items); for range finding and team coordination; trading etc.. Also many are using external teamspeak apps which gives a huge advantage in coordination while remaining silent.. With that inmind, what will be the next logical progress to gaining in-game advantage, that can be easily found online... Anyway I am against hacking, but just because they are the bad guys, doesn't mean that they are mentally insane... -
I think the mythbusters did an episode on this, with the conclusion that it would be easier and more effective to sharpen a stick and used at as good ol' fashioned spear.

Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
Mor (DayZ) replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
I understand, hence the second paragraph ;) I have seen a couple of these threads and you can rarely get anything from them. Especially with hot potato topic like hacking... However, if you think that completely contradictory experiences will help you decide please go ahead. Just keep inmind that the mods will remove most things that can be used to substantiate the severity of hacking, since that info will also open the door for hacking .. -
Will the Beta version cost anything?
Mor (DayZ) replied to vince478's topic in New Player Discussion
You can say the same about getting something for "free" + having to watch ads/commercials and filling surveys. Overall it depends on what is more valuable to you time or money... I'd rather pay extra few bucks and enjoy the finished product.. -
Thoughts on the new .50 Update...
Mor (DayZ) replied to Schweinsteiger's topic in General Discussion
Any highlights? So... the devs decided to implement an elegant solution to the sprinting across the whole map problem. Instead of reducing running speed, which would have upset a lot of people, they limited it by running->overheating->increased water consumption. I am not sure what effect it would have (since most people learned the trick of pumping themself full of water at every well, and maybe that why we get all those towns), but it sounds reasonable. -
Blasphemy! This IS Survival! and you will enjoy it! ;)

Simple Question: How good are the new implemented antihack features working?
Mor (DayZ) replied to TyrDaishi's topic in General Discussion
We seen a decrease of 19.87653192 precent... <_< I have no idea how the hell do you think we can measure this up?! You'll just get personal experience ranging from: nothing has changed its hacker haven to: hacks? what hacks? I haven't seen one for month... The only people with any indication will be devs\mods and they will feed you with usual "party line", that measures has been taken to deal with...blabla Without actually answering your question whether they were effective to reduce the amount of overall hacking (i.e. hackers moved to others methods) -
suggestion for login dead areas around attractive areas
Mor (DayZ) replied to kOepi (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I share your sentiments, but I am not sure about the implementation. On top of what General Zod mention you basically offers a free get out of doge teleport system, all you need todo is close you game in red zone and puff.. -
Deeper, richer, dead body experience.. Can we have this?
Mor (DayZ) replied to Irish.'s topic in Suggestions
For a second there I thought you will suggest recreative drugs for "deeper-richer-dead-body-experience"
