    Hanging People and Zombies

ooooh can we first "craft" a mask/robe out of white bed sheet, and then do all that? maybe have a klan guy hold a bible and speak about values and morality..

    Give civilian clothes some bonus?

I understand your sentiment, but its like suggesting that we should give butter knife magical powers because its just a stepping stone to a combat knife... Generally military clothing are designed for function, not pretty looks and should be the top "tier". The only thing I can thing off to balance it is weight, but we don't have that. You can also balance spawn chance, but in the end people who are min/maxing will always end up with the best gear. The good news is that you can still role play as you want, people with military gear die just like anyone else (the margins aint that high )

    BattleEye going way too far

Summary of the thread so far: OpenPoster: Has concerns about his privacy due BattleEye overreaching access, and that they have been breached in the past. Others: ~ "What privacy? pretty much everyone has their hands in your pants. So you should give up, keep your legs spread and enjoy the ride"...

Dayz doesn't feel like dayz and heres 2 reasons whyu

I agree, if dayz want to earn its place as horror game sounds and ambient music would be an invaluable tools. However, at this point I don't think game engine can handle basic sounds let alone anything more complex :/

how has the dry wells affected your gameplay

I am not sure how it makes the game more strategic, if all "you" did is change the formula, from: - Run across the map to the NWAF, from town to town. to: - Run across the map to the NWAF, from pond to pond.

Why DayZ is no survival game

In a sense he is right, if you think about the classic post-apocalyptic experience, its about exploration, scavenging... not plowing fields ;) Being able to make a fish trap from a bottle to keep yourself alive is different from being comfortable enough to stay in one location and tend your veggies for four month... I feel that farming belong to a setting in which society has been established and people are re-building, which to me comes after my adventure is over... ETA: if you ever played fallout, this would be the diffrence between the setting in the first and the second one.

    Server setup Guide ?

From arma I recall there were some extra configuration that has to be done. Has the process been streamlined? for all or only public servers?

    Surplus Wehrmacht uniforms/helmets

I don't recall using the word useful, notable was the term I used and I am not sure how my examples can be construed as metagaming items... Yes and there hundreds of items that are far more notable then this..

How zombies will change the game

Quick dedication to this topic: In the summertime when the weather is hot You can stretch right up and touch the sky When the weather's fine You got Zombies, you got Zombies on your mind Have a drink, have a drive Go out and see what you can find... Sing along:

    Surplus Wehrmacht uniforms/helmets

-1 I am sure there are many collector items one can come up with, but unless they are notable or add something in anyway, I don't see any reason why they should be include over the others.. realistically a sexy playboy costumes and a dildos would be a far more likelly item to be found hiding in the closet... The only reason I can think a Wehrmacht uniform might be useful is if someone make ww2 mod.

    Lockpick needs a buff

This discussion depends on your point of view on what lock picking mechanic is supposed to be. If you believe that it will lead to some kind of base building then yes it is to easy to break. However, if you believe that its used as tactical tool that can be used anywhere e.g. give you fair warning if someone is trying to flank you, or make sure somone won't run off, I think its well balanced.

How zombies will change the game

I really enjoyed this post over reddit http://www.reddit.com/r/dayz/comments/2lwfq2/zombies_the_missing_link_in_the_current_dayz_sa/ Its pretty much what i have been saying for all along only in good native English.

Is it time to come back?

^ If you are waiting for the finished product, then you it will no be time to comeback for another ~year and half... <insert applicable proverb in English about judging something in WIP >
  17. Its been a while since I last played. To my understanding there only six open channels, so running isn't an option. As for muting and overall communication, we need streamlining. Making it easier to communicate and choose who you communicate with, should be a priority, IMO. That is an interesting idea! Those are common sense "rules".. but if you find any wording issues, errors or missing info, you can easily help out by using the edit button.
  18. Most countries has several of those, for various services/regions which constantly monitored in operation rooms, however, it needs a network of towers and repeaters. I am not sure if there is a civilian version of that, any ham radio users around ?

Tired of spawning at the coast

Coastal spawns require people to migrate inland and in some way are a right of passage, since most noobs never leave the coast. It also makes staying alive more precious down the road, since dying = a long trip back. IMO Adding inland spawns will only increase the amount of people making spawn suicide, so they can respawn in better position.

Status Report - Week of 27 Oct 14

I know its just a very very rough sketch and we should complain, or the devs would be less inclined to share WIP and their thoughts with us. Still I have been a gamer for a long time and there is nothing exciting visually or functionally that I see in that sketch. Which is a huge contrast with this idea for the inventory, that I recently stumbled upon: http://kolinsue.com/projects/dayz-inventory/community-release-en

Taking "reload" option off of scroll menu

No, it just would take more time to use the interface period. Specific mag or not, any basic action using the interface would take more time. Unless you can decide what goes next, 'automatic' reload key binding is just quick way to load the same magazine with highest bullets count.. So if I have in my vest both types of mags, it should take me more time to pick one over the other ?!

Taking "reload" option off of scroll menu

^ I am not sure it is a good idea. as Mos1ey noted we have different mag types.. So if you do away with the scroll menu entirely, they only option for many would be to drag the magazine to the gun, which will take more time, especially if they go with the top interface idea where the distance between the two area increase.
  23. ^ Its already ~possible http://dayz.gamepedia.com/WalkieTalkie just stay on the default channel
  24. If it seems to you that only children use chat, it probably because you only play with children (you perv ;) ) In that case be aware that walkie talkies might not be as immersive as you would like, as you will get the same kids swag and "trollololo".. IMO the best solution so far would be to use radios, however, dispensing with most of its realistic aspects i.e. 1. You still need to find radios. Which should mitigate the problem of people who got shot revealing their assailant location. (It should also be possible to set it as a starting gear on private server) 2. Basic moderation options should be added. I love the idea of the radio, it would be amazing tool for private RP servers, but the realistic broadcast isn't practical, an option to MUTE players is a must! to moderate offensive\annoying people or those with technical issues(e.g. broken mic) transmitting server wide. 3. Make it easier to use. Radios should be found with batteries and take either a single slot or no inventory slots at all. There is no point in making it harder to use then it is, when there are so many great alternatives out there. Bottom line it doesn't matter if its realistic or not. For all I care you can imagine that you got some gift that allow you to tune out annoying people, and that the radio is held by your buttcheeks. The main goal here is to encourage communication and cooperation by people sharing location via map, and making it unnecessarily harder will only push social people away and as a side effect will continue to encourage KoS in public servers.

Dean Hall on Vehicles and Barricading

This remind me the argument about the bone condition bug. Usually dying is not an issue for me, because "such is life" and i see it as something to learn from and do better in the future. However dying from a bug, is a pointless and meangless waste of my time. Which is why I wasn't surprised when a lot of people got upset when they learned about the bug. I see this in similar fashion. I don't mind poor loot spawns because its just a matter of time. However, global restriction stack the deck, it means that not every server will be self sufficient and I might be wasting my time for nothing, that knowledge alone will sour my experience. Knowing this, If I were to go for a while with no result, it would be tempting to go server hop[ing.. because its the human thing todo and it increase your chances to find what you want by jumping between common spawn locations. You might not feel the same, but that how it is for me.
