I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
Mor (DayZ) replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
I used a tooth pick or a small weight (depending on what keyboard) -
But they do. Expanding on ,my previous post: If our zombies were simply infected human that hasn't changed in anyway, then survival would be about getting a month worth grocery list and good book. Then just sit and wait until our new noisy neighbors die out of starvation and exposure to the elements. Since our zombies can survive the rain and the cold, hunger and thirst as they endlessly roam the country (and without worrying about their shoes condition, I might add) it safe to say the infection has adjusted them so now they can survive in conditions that uninfected human can't.

fraction, domestic currency, infected and artificial intelligence, experienced survivors or how to see the traces of the enemy!
Mor (DayZ) replied to ilooli's topic in Suggestions
I think the whole 'player based factions and economy' is a great idea, however, due to the fact that we have hundreds of small pop servers that anyone can hop in between, IMO it is ultimately doomed. Honestly its a meangless distinction. Zombie used to describe any human being that has been lost to death, infection or whatever twist has been used to make our zombies different. Whatever the cause, the result is the same an apocalypse due to the zombies rising en mass as they feed on the living\uninfected\whatever So while our zombies (as officially used by the devs) differ from the classic definition of a zombie (risen from the dead) and more akin of the more modern 28 days later variant (infected), its mostly about splinting hairs then having any affect on the game... -
In Dayz MOD Chernarus, Chernogorsk has been the biggest city and the regional administrative center. In Dayz SA we got a new kid in town Novodmitrovsk, the devs enjoyed their freedom and made it quite bigger. I am just wondering is it suppose to be the new capital or just the big urban center?

Remove random laughing as a side effect for cannibalism please.
Mor (DayZ) replied to Jhunt7507's topic in Suggestions
Considering the taboo concerning cannibalism. In real life people will resort to cannibalism only on brink of death\sanity, otherwise they will soon be hunted down like the vermin they are and even might be blamed for the infection. Considering that in Dayz, cannibalism can become a cheat tool for those interested in PvP deathmath, while dayz mechanics doesn't offer anything that can mitigate the phenomena, I consider the method in use to be the minimum necessary balancing act -1 to the idea. -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
Mor (DayZ) replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
Because even though we grow up, many never leave the school yard.. Some of those 1st person "hardcores" wear it as badge of honor and 3rd person popularity either offends their sensibilities or makes them feel left out... We are all aware of people preferences, though I am not sure what you want us to do about it.. force people to play with you? At least I can understand those who don't want to play 1st person, but concerned by the view angle exploits, although I have yet to see a solution which wouldn't be worse then the problem. -
Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
Mor (DayZ) replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
Seems like it would, for example by running near a walls, trees etc your camera will start to zoom-dance, that unless you want to implement something like that action-y 'gears of war' snap-in system you mentioned, for everyone (it would have to be 1st and 3rd person). -

^ this. Episode 1,737,741 season 2. -
defend, huh? I wasn't defending either... looks like you are butthurt over something and trolling for comments\arguments, so count me out kid..
-
I didn't suggest that there is... only like you made a general comment that if you find anything misleading, you can easily help out and improve it.

Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
Mor (DayZ) replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
That doesn't address my concern. crosshair or not, having the camera zoom\in out on different body parts, every time you get close to some object, should negatively affect your aiming\orientation, is it not? and might lead to jerky movement when between multiple objects. Theoretically yes, everything is possible, but practically I assume that something like that would require huge amount of work, going over the whole map and fine tune each object facing. Also I am not sure that your 'gears of war' system lends well for dayz/arma type of gameplay. -
Only that today everyone want to put up a video\guide, with their own sexy logo. Its hard to avoid the tidal wave of spam washed up with every update and forgotten two weeks later. Also that personally, I appreciate those who choose to help out on the wiki and share their knowledge, using the written word and without the expectation of likes\subscribers. They have my beans. Edit: fixed some grammar.

Third Person View should be Over-the-Shoulder, NOT a bird's eye view.
Mor (DayZ) replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
Wouldn't that make your your camera\crosshair dance uncontrollably when ever you are near object(s)? Is it even possible in this engine? Can you show an example where something like that has been done well in another game? Does your post is constructive or contributes to the topic at hand? nope Does the majority who play 3rd person care how you feel about it? nope. -
Maybe they were testing ways to optimize its use/performance, or it was effected by the hitbox issues we seen before..
-
If you think you can improve, you can contribute to the community by clicking edit... unless you are one of the hype kids who only do Youtube vids..
-
of course, but the question work well enough for a fishing expedition, who knows what hits the devs has dropped arround as to their intentions. Four if you count prigorodki. Also I recall a few rail terminals but was/is there a Shipyard in the port? http://dayz.gamepedia.com/Chernogorsk

It is a 'regional administrative center' aka regional capital ...

Mor (DayZ) replied to Rags!'s topic in General Discussion
Poll numbers are meangless... not only you have no idea if the people who voted actually play in 3rd person view, or one of those 1st person view only "hardcore"s who like to think that their opinion on how other should play the game matters, but also the forum users base isn't representative of the wide Dayz community (especially during development) -
Yep melee isn't very good in Dayz atm. By 'random nonsense' are you refer to dispersion or swing? as far as I know Dayz ballistics model overall is based on the same concepts you'd see in arma2\3 (with few adjustments like adding hitHealth\hitBlood\hitShock etc, although no one knows how it works)
-
out of interest has anyone tested how the other two ranged weapons (the bows and crossbow) measure up? Also is it true that in-game a bow is better than crossbow i.e. it has higher hit, far better reload time, and only little less dispersion.

How many pallets in dayz 12 gauge buckshot ?

I'm old and I suck at it so I play on empty servers.
Mor (DayZ) replied to Butifnot's topic in General Discussion
I prefer Old Man's War as a title -
The sawed-off has the exact same damage (determined by the ammo), the only thing that changed is dexterity and dispossession cone i.e. you can turn with it faster and has an increased area of effect making it easier to hit at close range, but harder at mid range. Btw does anyone know the answer for this: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/215186-how-many-pallets-in-a-buckshot/#entry2161603
-
According to the video there are 9 pallets, shot in cone. I just want to confirm that, and if you can score multiple hits on a target\s from someone familiar with code. Because I know that its very common in games to optimize this aspect.

Is there any setup configuration or administration guide available somewhere?
