Seeing as there's bears and all now. Still, insta-kill traps like grenades would be really annoying. They'd have to be visible to the careful player. Some good alarm 'traps' could be to shattered glass on hard ground could act as a good early warning system.

Are 1st person hardcore servers on a different hive than 3rd person regular servers? If so can we have two separate simultaneous characters in each hive?

Yes it works. Sometimes every server seems to be doing it. When this happens I restart my game and try again. I don't think it does anything apart from allow more time for the servers to sort themselves out but it seems to work and that's what I've been doing. I've had a lot of servers try and reset me and I still have the same character. :D

When you find a server like this it'll give you 30 or 60 seconds to back out of the server before you spawn. If you do this and wait a bit or move to a different server you will retain your current character. :)

Well I play on Hardcore servers since the update and the couple of times I've tried to play a regular server it trys to respawn me so I back out and go back to hardcore servers to keep my character because I don't know if also playing on a regular server is going to overwrite my hardcore character.

I've heard that since the update servers have been crashing a whole lot more than they used to. The crashes effectively acting like a restarts.

Debug monitors normally display stuff like frame rate and memory being used. That just looks a little cheaty. Like being able to pull the number of your blood level out of the void. I'm also curious to know how it knew who were bandits.

Yeah it means a hired gun mostly. Though it can also mean a person who wouldn't normally be involved in a conflict joining a one side. They might do this because they have favour of one side, or dislike of the other. They might do it for glory or for a reward later on and they might just do it for fun. It isn't the main use of the word but it still fits.

I'm curious how people were driven to kill for the first time? My first kill was when I was looting with a friend when we were suddenly under sniper fire. Running for cover my friend goes down just as I reach the sanctuary of a warehouse type building. This was my first taste of any combat in DayZ and I'll be honest. I was shitting myself, physically shaking and everything. As I sat there I heard movement. I had unknowingly ran straight to the building the sniper was on but the only way down from the roof was a ladder so I positioned myself and waited taking him out 5 minutes later when he'd figured I'd run away or logged off.

I am using a leather courier bag which is 4x4 on the inside (and 5x5 outside which is odd) so I can fit sawed-offs. off topic, but I wish we could rotate items in the inventory! I currently have: Fully tricked out Mosin except bipod1911 with 2 magsa revolver with quickloader (glitched into the floor almost killing me, breaking my legs, ruining my pants and the gun in them)Longhorn

hmm interesting views all round. I wasn't planing to keep either as my only firearm. I planned to have a short and a mid (to longish) range weapon. So I guess I have a second question: A pistol or a sawed-off shotgun for the close range? And again it has to fit in my backpack or clothes. As concerning the play style. I am in the process of changing my play style from kitting up into a walking armoury to bare essentials, stealth, low kit. The reason for hiding my (good) weapons (might have low end melee weapon on display) is I have read here and seen in game that people are a lot more likely to kos a kitted player than a newspawn. There is many who do kos newspawns but the chances or getting killed are a little lower and lower still with stealth.

Also, it gives you a countdown. If you see you're being respawned log of before the countdown ends and try another server and/or restart your game. Works for me. :)

Ah. Another with the same taste as I. Yeah I love the look and the functionality of the SKS. Best gun in the game.

Spawned on the coast, first building I found was a shed, fell off the stairs, broke my leg and crawled 15 minutes until a zombie lady beat me to death.

Would be cool if they left a trail on blood drops you could follow.

Vilayer Ltd, the people who run the servers are giving updates on the progress on their facebook and twitter accounts. They blew through their estimate of 1pm (GMT) and have given no new estimate thus far.

All but the beta servers are down right now as the game is updating. They should be back up in a bit.
